New 'Batman: Arkham Origins' trailer reveals Firefly, story, gameplay, and more

WB Games Montreal just debuted an awesome Batman: Arkham Origins trailer titled "Nowhere to Run" during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. The new trailer reveals that Firefly will be trying to kill Batman and cash in on Black Mask's $50 million reward. As the fifth assassin, Firefly joins Bane, Deathstroke, Copperhead, and Deadshot. There are still three more assassins to be revealed before the game's October 25th release.

The trailer really gives us a great look at the story while showing off some awesome gameplay footage. We get to see the Batcave and Batman's relationship with Alfred and Gordon, who doesn't know if he can trust Batman yet. Look closely towards the end, and you can even see Bane giving Batman that famous backbreaker from Knightfall! After watching this trailer, I think Batman: Arkham Origins may even top the amazing Batman: Arkham City! What do you guys think? Check it out and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

This game, while it looks good. Will not top Arkham City at all. Because, for it to top Arkham City, it would have to have better graphics than AC (which it doesn't), a better more complicated and satisfying story that still fits into the Arkhamverse well, better gameplay (but it has been confirmed it's the exact same as AC), better voice actors (the actors for Joker and Batman in this game do not beat Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy), better and more villains (AC has more as of right now), and a lot more easter eggs (it's hard to top AC with that). THose are just a few things which AO has to accomplish to top AC, so no I highly believe it won't top AC but it will still be a very fun game.

The story is leagues better in this one,it's simplistic and doesn't have any pretense of being something intellectual when it clearly isn't.The villains are better,look at Bane vast improvement over the previous ones,Deathstroke is a BADASS,Deadshot is about to get justice as well.A good deal of AC'S villains were useless,still I do agree with the graphics and the gameplay,it might now beat AC overall but it has already succeeded in certain areas,cooler designs for instance both for Joker and Bane.

Graphics are that important to you? Really? You must watch porn for the acting then. How do you even know what the story in Origins is like? I can guarantee you don't know how it ends. Oh, there are assassins and Joker and Black Mask, sure, but what else happens? Do you know someone that works at Rocksteady? The gameplay isn't even close to being exactly the same. There are new and smarter enemies, new gadgets, a new leveling system, new side missions, and have you even SEEN the new detective mode?! Completely different. Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker are 2 of the premiere voice actors in the industry today. I wish I could be the kind of person who is able to tell if a game is going to surpass its predecessor before said game is even released.

  Frankly, I'm rather impressed on how awesome Batman's and Joker's voices sound. People need to let go of the old voices - especially if the new ones sound as perfect as they do.

The graphics are fine. While they may not completely trump anything witnessed in AC, I'd say they've managed to at least stay on par. Quite good considering the sheer size of the map and whatnot. Plus, Batman is Warner Bros. cash cow, so you know they're not likely going to be cutting any major corners with this franchise.

I don't think graphics ain't that important. As long as the story is good and engaging and the gameplay is still satisfying as hell, then that's all we really need. Oh, and the voice actors may not be as the same level as Conroy and Hammil but after this trailer, I have to say I really am impressed on how they channeled "younger" versions of the Arkham game characters.

dude i couldent disagree with you more the graphics in this game look amazing and are just as good maybe even better than city. and although combat has not been changed and is maybe the exact same moves thier are a couple of small minor new moves that are noticable and are new and there are quiet alot of them in the combat look in past gameplay footage or just look at a few of them in this trailer there are a total of 12 villans you will fight in origins hell, maybe more there were only 8 actuall villans in arkaham city so .... yea. the voice actors for arkahm city ( kevin,mark) are incredibale and amzing but so are troy and roger although i love kevin and mark i also love troy and roger so dont doubt those two so yea i think this game will be equal if not better than arkahm city but dont take this the wrong way i love city and asylum and rocksteady but this game is promising and im pretty sure it wont dissapoint.

No way. The build up to Arkham City was flawless. It felt like it's own Batman universe. This doesn't look bad but it takes so much from "The Dark Knight Trilogy" (Bane breaking the bat, the way Bruce walks up to the Bat suit, the ears being so small, the dark armored look of the suit). The other games had Nolan influence in them but not like this one. Again, I am too much of a Batman fan just to not play this game.

Well Bane breaking the bat is from the comics (Knightfall). Pretty sure Bruce walking up to the bat suit has been done many times. I mean seriously, he's walking to the damn suit. As if that's something that can only be done in the movies and automatically belongs to them. Ears being small is another generic thing too. Ears aren't gigantic, you know. I'll agree with the look of the suit but that can again be done anywhere too. It really just hasn't been done that much. And even then, there's nothing wrong with taking influence from something that worked. So long as you're not copying it entirely.

  I know the back breaking scene is from Knightfall. Look at the case that the suit is enclosed in it looks exactly like the one from The Dark Knight except a little wider. Yeah, they are generic things but they have been become more widely popular because of TDK. I want to see a little more of there own influence. If they are going to do a trilogy of Arkham Origins then at least come into your own.

    Personally, I always compartmentalize that Bane never existed in the comics. I hate the character, hated the Knightfall storyline attached to him, and never felt it made any sense at all that Bane ever beat The Batman.

Ok, so Harley looks awesome. Do she and the Joker count as assassins? I guess not - though I hope they throw another lady in there - maybe Huntress? Ahh that's probably too much to hope. Still, got a nice look at a prison - Blackgate I'm guessing - and Firefly looks great, too, joining Deathstroke's amazingness. I like that there will be stories more personal to Batman rather than the trying-to-take-over-Gotham theme.

I think you're talking about Copperhead, since Harley isn't in ths game at all, and Copperhead should be the only female in the trailer. And Huntress isn't really a mercenary or an assassin, they could just use Cheshire or maybe Lady Shiva... You know, the only assassin that actually defeat Batman in hand-to-hand combat? Seriously, I will be pretty dissappointed if Lady Shiva isn't one of the assassins...

  You are absolutely right. That is Copperhead - I could have sworn I saw red-jesterlike pants, so I assumed it was Harley and I hadn't heard of Copperhead yet.
  Yeah, I know Huntress isn't an assassin, but she does "hunt" to bring her own brand of justice, and arguably could be given the right push since she and Batman kinda hate each other in the comics - or they could even ditch the vigilante shtick and have her be a mafia hit-woman. But, it's not going to happen anyway, so I'm with you on a vote for Lady Shiva. She would be amazing, Cheshire too but less so.

It doesn't have anything to do with the comics, but it's kind of like a Year One story. Batman is only in his 2nd year in Arkham Origins.

I think they've created their own timeline separate from the comics. This game is supposed to Bruce's 2nd year as Batman, but if I remember correctly, Knightfall occurred when Bruce was much older.
I wonder if Jean Paul Valley / Azrael will be one of the 3 remaining assassins

  I don't think Jean Paul will be in this game at all. Azrael was seemingly introduced in Arkham City.

      I'm aware it wasn't Jean Paul. But I'm pretty sure Azrael, regardless of who was behind the mask, was introduced in City. If that's correct, it would be a huge continuity error to have Jean Paul show up in Origins.

I don't think he's an "assassin", there will be other villains in the game too. We may not even learn about all 8 before the game comes out. They want to keep some as surprises.

To me this looks better than AC. Even if it isnt, Orgins got a few things right from the Get Go..... The Bat Suit. Im sorry but the Bat suit in ORGINS Murders AC's bright blue underwear outside of the pants look, i mean its 2013 For godsake, if Man of Steel (film) modernized the suit so can Our Batman Video games. Orgins Batsuit is much more updated & sleek, the cowl looks more slim and not attached to his neck direcly aka Dark Knight Trilogy look. The Story seems more Darker wit the Mob hiring assassins. Bane Looks Intelligent thank god and not a walking beast like in AC. And finally Batman voice doesnt sound like and an old guy. I like kevin conroy batmans voice in batman in the 90's but he is just too old now. He's Lost his touch. Out with the old in with the NEW. I cant even wait for what they announce in 2014 for Batman. Just my 2 cents...

I've been waiting for a decent take on Firefly for ages. Ever since I read Knightfall when I was a kid, I thought he had so much potential and it's always bummed me out that hardly anyone's done anything interesting with him since then (although I loved his origin in Batgirl: Year One). The New Batman Adventures episode with him in was really disappointing.
Got to say that his appearance in Arkham Origins looks REALLY promising. Hopefully he'll be taken seriously after this, and Scott Snyder or Peter Tomasi decides to include him in the comics.

Calling it right now: Black Masks line "Kill him and I'll pay you whatever you want. Make him suffer and I double it," it to the Joker, after ALL of the assassins have failed to kill Batman. The last person he turns to is the Joker, ala- Batman: Under the Hood style.
