'Beware the Batman' TV series to premiere on Cartoon Network in July (video)

A new animated TV series titled Beware the Batman will premiere on Cartoon Network on July 13th at 10am. Check out the sizzle reel above and the press release below for more information.

The Caped Crusader will return to television screens this summer when Beware the Batman premieres on Cartoon Network Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. (ET/PT) as part of DC Nation. Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans.
A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman's core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordswoman Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City's criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation (WBA), this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a "Batman show." WBA's Sam Register serves as executive producer, with Glen Murakami (Batman Beyond) and Mitch Watson (Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc.) producing.
Starring Anthony Ruivivar (Banshee) as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Beware The Batman boasts a stellar voice cast with JB Blanc (The Count of Monte Cristo) as Alfred and Sumalee Montano (ER) as Katana. Lending voices to the villains are Wallace Langham (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) as Anarky, Grey DeLisle (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Magpie, Udo Kier (Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc.) as Mr. Toad, Lance Reddick (Fringe) as Ra's al Ghul and Brian George (The Big Bang Theory) as Professor Pyg.
Beware the Batman is the latest series based on characters from DC Comics to be added to DC Nation, Cartoon Network's programming block on Saturday mornings. It will be followed by Teen Titans Go! at 10:30 a.m. and joined by all-new animated shorts.

Looks very action packed. And more darker than much people thought. Like a lot of the trailer, looks mvery promising, but wanna see more of the drama either. Lets wait and see.

Yeah. I don't so much mind the CG as much as the style (of Batman specifically), and the description of the show makes me a little apprehensive, but it does seem to have some good action. I'll at least check it out.

Ugh, I'll give it a shot, but I'm not very optimistic. Honestly I'm still pissed they cancelled Green Lantern and Young Justice for this and Teen Titans Go. That show is crap, I mean it's kind of funny, but it's no where near as good as Young Justice

Teen Titans Go! is OK. It is funny but I do miss actually having a serious storyline like the original Teen Titans. I was watching "Apprentice Part 2" and "Terra" on Boomerang the other day. Now those were quality. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to watching Young Justice.

That looks horrible. That show better have some fantastic writing to overcome that terrible animation. Hasn't CG come along way in the last few years? Why does this look like Reboot again?

I've never understood why CN hasn't made a cartoon of the old school Batman and the Outsiders. It seems perfect for what they like. A bunch of colorful costumes, fancy powers that would look cool in animation, a nice mix of races and sexes to hit all the demos and Batman.

I agree. CGI animation looks faker than a cartoon. At least a cartoon isn't pretending to be live-action.

It amazes me how Batman can run the entire entertainment spectrum from campy family show (Adam West Batman) to dark and serious adult movies (Batman '89, Dark Knight Trilogy) to cool for all ages cartoon (B:TASM) to a more "obviously for children" cartoon (Beware of the Batman) and virtually everything in between including teenage/young adult video games like the Arkham series. Even as a diehard Batman fan I think I'll pass on this.. brave and bold and that other Batman cartoon that did not feature Conroy were too kiddy'ish enough as it is but this "professor pyg and mister toad" business seems like it's aiming at the 5 year olds.. not to mention batman's sidekick KATANA? Say what now?

What's funny in Mister Toad dies in issue 2 of Morrison's "Batman & Robin" and Professor Pyg is a psychotic mutilator who works for one of the most unsettling and demonic villains ever. So including them on a show deliberately aimed at kids is kind of weird
