Oscar worthy!!!
Happy New Year bro : )
Same to you my friend..... What a great year we had, time to start a new one...:-)
If TDKR doesn't get any Oscar nominations, I would expect in the distant future that THE DARK KNIGHT and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will be initiated into the Criterion Collection.
Even though most of those of films tend to be "Indie" or "Foreign", they at least qualify for their narrative and technical aesthetics like those others.
THE DARK KNIGHT would be under "Neo-Noir" and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES would be under "War Drama"
Just a thought,
I think Nolan can win Best Director. Not necessarily because of TDKR (I thought it was a great movie, but let's be honest, it had some flaws) but more because of the entire trilogy he was able to create. He took a broken down Batman franchise and made it RISE. I think best adapted screenplay, best acting, best cinematography and best costume design are all within reach as well. Also, TDKR has no chance in Sound Mixing and Sound Editing, the movie doesn't deserve to even be in those categories...
Happy New Year bro : )
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too! Have a good one! Haha I know I will lol
Speaking of flaws? Lincoln had MAJOR flaws, most notably it's historical accuracy, I'd call an authenticity flaw on the whole story of Life of Pi, Sliver Linings Playbook is an average movie at best and the biggest flaw it had was casting Bradley Cooper, who will probably end up getting a best actor nod out of it -- which is a major insult to anyone who's ever won the award, the guy is the most overrated male actor in the game today. Must be real hard to play yourself in every role your cast in.
Christian Bale deserves Oscar
Don't know if it'll win, but I'd at least like it to be nominated for categories like Best Picture.
The only thing I could see TDKR winning is music. The Dark Knight should have won but from what I've heard, that movie is the reason why there are more nominations now for best film.
So I'm reading some of these "2013 Academy Award Predictions" and it almost makes me sick to my stomach not seeing TDKR even mentioned as a potential nominee for practically anything. Some people out there might not like TDKR (whatever -- to each his own) but to say that films like Silver Linings Playbook is a better movie than TDKR is absolutely insane. I enjoyed Argo, the Life of Pi and Zero Dark Thirty will be great but Lincoln! That was the most overrated film I've seen since No Country For Old Men and excluding Daniel Day Lewis performance, Lincoln was three hours of absolute boredom taken straight out of a history book (yet it got considerable criticism for taking liberties with it's already overly complacent plot) -- yet it's going to get credit for Best Original Screenplay!?
Christoper Nolan has practically revolutionized the way we watch movies today yet Michael Haneke is going to get credit for Best Director of Amour???
Last but not least Wally Pfister not getting credit, or at least a nomination, for his cinematography work is a clear indication that the Academy is blatantly attempting to leave out all superhero genre films. It's embarrassing and a huge disrespect to prominent film makers like Nolan and company who've brought a new dimension to film in a time where film desperately needed it.
Its a great movie, best trilogy of all time --- best superhero flick of all time -- enough said.
The academy insulted Nolan by not giving him an Oscar for Inception...What can we expect from these fools now anyway???
I just can't see it being nominated for anything major - It may get a nom for sound, editing etc... but picture, director is a no I think. :(
sadly no consideration was given, OSCAR people, you're are brainless dickheads
