Hans Zimmer shows off his 'The Dark Knight Rises' iPhone app (video)

Last night ABC's Nightline did a piece on Hans Zimmer. They interviewed Zimmer in his studio about all the great movies he's written music for, including The Dark Knight Rises. Zimmer also showed off his new The Dark Knight Rises iPhone app, which lets you "create your own soundtrack". The app features music from The Dark Knight Rises that didn't make the score. i found that there was a subtlety to the batman begins and the dark knight scores that rises lacked, and i think this may have been because of james newton howard's absence. jnh's blood diamond score demonstrated this 'subtlety', and it really adds depth to the music. zimmer's music is often much more direct and has strong physicality. but whatever :P also the lion king's score was awesome.

  You have a good point, but I don't really think that subtlety fits Rises. I mean it's a war movie, so I believe the music has to be pretty bombastic. But I do agree that I would have loved to hear Howard again.

  I disagree. James left because he would feel like a third wheel to this movie bc hans and chris worked together on inception. TDKR soundtrack was perfect, the deluxe edition with te two extra songs and 1 remix is worth the money. I like the ghostly tone used after the prologue scene and thats heard in Rise and On Thin Ice. You hear it periodically. Listening to all the songs i hear a lot of returning sounds along with some new ones.
