'The Dark Knight Rises' pulls in $30.6 million from midnight showings

The Dark Knight Rises raked in a reported $30.6 million from midnight showings last night, and about $25 million worth of tickets were sold well in advanced. Christopher Nolan's epic Batman finale was played at 3,825 theaters, 330 of which had premium-priced IMAX screens.

Back in May, Marvel's The Avengers made $18.7 million from midnight showings and went on to make a recording breaking $207.4 million in its first opening weekend. With The Dark Knight Rises already ahead in midnight showings, does it have what it takes to break The Avenger's record? While it doesn't have 3D theaters and ticket prices on its side, The Dark Knight Rises is a movie you'll want to see a second time the minute you see the credits start rolling.

I doubt it. He said he's done. And knowing Nolan, no amount of money will probably bring him to direct another. As for possibly writing or producing a reboot/remake, I'm sure he'll be glad to.

Worst day ever today. Words cannot describe how sickened I am with the events that took place in Aurora, Colorado. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to all the victims and their families. It's times like these which really put things into perspective and what really matters.

With that being said the actions of this sick and cowardly individual will not ruin the movie nor the experience of all the great movie going fans who have waited years for this special film to arrive. This man attempted to destroy "our" way of life by scaring us by his senseless actions. But similar to 9/11 when we didn't shut the schools down when World Trade Towers fell, we as Americans stood strong and endured that crisis and were stronger for it. The victims never got the experience to see Christopher Nolan's final masterpiece but I'm sure looking down from Heaven they would encourage us all to stay strong and not let this tragedy affect our way of life. Let us never forget the victims of Aurora and what happened today, pray for them and their families.

The Dark Knight Rises will endure, it will break records and stand the test of time as the greatest trilogy ever. No senseless, cowardly act could ever destroy that or the will of our great fan base to continue to push through and endure this terrible event.

Please be safe at theaters this weekend and continue to pray for the victims and families.

I saw it on the news about 15 minutes before going out to see the film,and I have to say I had a feeling of guilt,sorrow whilst watching it,it took the shine off the whole occasion after waiting over 2 years to see it.Bet thats what that prick who murdered wanted.

After watching this movie at midnight last night I really liked it but felt like something was missing. I watched it a second time today and it all clicked. Just absolutely brilliant. This is a film that makes you earn it's brilliance. It makes you pay attention. It makes you think back. It makes you remember the little details. From the beginning to the very end Nolan tells you a tight, fast-paced epic that will have you on your toes trying to keep up. It stands by itself as a fantastic story but Nolan also closes the loose ties in TDK and brings it full circle with Begins. Then even after all that he delivers us an ending that will be talked about forever. One of the best I've ever seen.

Kudos to AH, who blew me away by bringing Catwoman right out of the comic book and onto the screen. MC was AMAZING, GO was his usual fantastic self, TH brought it as Bane, JGL brings something special to a HUGE role, and Bale has his best performance as Bruce Wayne.

The themes, the foreshadowing, the images pulled straight out of the comic book. Nolan crushes this finale guys. I couldn't be happier.

Why people live in Gotham...? Every few years there is a major disaster on the horizon? The ending of the trilogy is fantastic!! Lots of us probably see ourselves retired, of whatever we do right now, in some nice wee village in France or Italy (maybe Canada ;)... But the world is too small for someone like Bruce Wayne to disappear...

Great Movie, Worth the wait. Im sad to see it all end. I need to see it again, to study the parts of the plot which were spread a little thin. this is not a critisism,

Im from Ireland, and just want to say to all Americans who read this, very sorry to hear of the tragedy in Aurora. Condolences from me and my part of the world. The Cinema is one thing you guys do better than anyone, I hope this doesnt turn a night out at the flix into a visit to Airport security for you guys. Dont let one head banger ruin what you have. Guns in the hands of the masses is not the way forward, it leads to this.

I also hope it doesnt take away from the Acknowledgement that this movie should recieve. It could have been any movie.
Im a fan and Im biased, but I cant see how there will ever be a better trilogy made, on any subject.

Seen it twice already, going again Wednesday. Just loved it! I will agree there was a couple of plot points that were spread a little thin but give Nolan a break... He had to tie up so many loose ends that it had to happen that way :D x
