It's an interesting fact made this week in the production notes that the Heinz Field would be okay for shooting since the turf would be removed for the new season anyway. Much like the demolition for real, a disused Brachs candy factory that stood in for the Gotham Hospital that Joker blew up in the TDK. The producers really got lucky on these location scouts.

I think this looks like this poster will be the cover art for the blu-ray of TDKR. It reminds me of how there were two official posters for The Dark Knight. The one with the Bat logo burning on the building is the theatrical release poster also used for the DVD cover art. On the other hand, I think the one where Batman is on the bat pod crashing out of the building was used for the the blu-ray. So I think poster 3 of TDKR will be the cover art for the DVD and this IMAX poster will hopefully be the cover art of the blu-ray. I'm counting on it!

I'm not religious in the least, but I'm getting awfully sick of these allusions to religious deities. Is he supposed to be an angel descending from the heavens with a ray of light through the clouds? Floating like an apparition above Earth. Queue the angelic choir - OooHHhh! Or, Anakin Skywalker in PM being born out of immaculate conception. Haha. What, is he Jesus Christ? Anyways, I'm getting off topic - this poster is the worst one yet.

has nobody else noticed that the batman in this poster is shopped from the banner where he is pictured standing on top of the cop car with only his cape covering his feet this time? Don't get me wrong, I like this poster (even though i think it would be cool w/o batman; just the signal and the burning city) but i remember everyone b****ing and moaning that WB shopped the third poster. just my .02...

I don't see much of a religious theme going on in these posters. I think some of you are looking to deeply into it. The bat symbol is simply an opening through the clouds that allows the sun to shine down on Gotham. It's symbolic! If anything involves clouds and rays of light does that make it religious? Besides, I don't think Christopher Nolan is a religious man, anyways...
I might be reading too much into it, but religious or not, it's still one helluv an ugly poster.
Religion can be on everything if you´re religious enough(which is hardly my case, I was simply making a funny comment earlier)...
For example I could look at the sewer confrontation like this:

Nokia is pushing hard with its The Dark Knight Rises tie-in with the Lumia 900, and its latest promo could be the best yet: full 3D maps of Gotham City. Previewed today in a new teaser video, the map will allow users to “explore Gotham City like never before” complete with in-universe landmarks such as Wayne Tower.

I'm seriously hoping this is the poster they hand out at the midnight IMAX showings. I'd be satisfied with the teaser or the second one.
This poster is not the greatest (kind of peculiar in a bad way actually), but WB have released a bunch of others since the 3rd poster that were pretty spectacular. That's all I care about..so this doesn't make or break the marketing for me, lol.
Well that's optimistic. :) I think this poster is a lot worse than the one that everyone was giving WB flack for. You know...the one someone made an animated .gif of? It's by far the ugliest one yet. Weird that some people are praising it. To each's own I guess.

It's odd. It looks cool, and I don't think it's too busy...but for some reason I don't really like it. I can't quite figure out why I don't like it, though, it's kinda weird. Is it the colors? I think the colors may be a little too extreme. Does anybody else feel the same way?
Maybe because Batman is kind of floating over Gotham..and there's this beam of light shining down on him. I can't be the only one who thinks that's pushing it, haha.
Well, he seems oddly photoshopped in there. And the rays of light are a little too distinctive for working this concept.

Wow as a guy who does this stuff (Mediadesign) for a living.... this one now REALLY sucks..
I felt i was one of the few who didn't flame WB for photoshopping this other one, cause i felt it still had a good "poster feeling" you know what i mean?
But this one is just poorly made. I see what they were up to, but it just doesn't work.
The angle of view on the city just can't work with the angle from which we are looking at Bats. It seems very odd. Of course Batman is just taken from the other poster, you know, the one that had Batman standing on a crushed cop-car, but still...
That brings me to my biggest complain. What the hell is he standing on? From looking at the original you can clearly see, that they just covered his feet with the cape but what is he standing on? Some kind of cross? That looks so weird. Of course, they had to erase his feet somehow to prevent making him look like he was floating above the city but why then not just make a little fade into black on the bottom? Just bring the city more up so the burning effect does still work and from Bats' knees down, it goes into black....bam, that's it. Of cours the angles would still look weird but at least it wouldn't be THAT crappy.... Just don't get it how big paid staff of mediadesigners can't figure that out.
But i still like the idea of the Sky on this one, though.

Considering some awful work they have released... they should hire new folks. As you said they seem to have bend some classic design rules in making some details in the posters, I can´t forget how they blackned Catwoman´s goggles with black paint not respecting the natural lighting effect and now they place Batman standing on... a toothpic!

I've bee hearing alot of people show distaste in the third Batman poster...im not sure if some if you guys who don't like it realize that the third poster is the most important out of all of them. Its a combination of ALL THREE movie posters in one. I personally enjoy it. I figured that if so some of you guys understood that poster a little bit more, you wouldn't hate it as much. I can't wait for this to release. I already got my midnight tickets in IMAX!!!!!

Doesn't Batman look like a statue on top of a building in this picture? Maybe he does die at the end and the statue acts as an everlasting symbol as Bruce talks about in Batman Begins...just a thought...
