A new video from the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey was discovered yesterday that shows a great behind the scenes look at what an IMAX theater must do to prepare for the massive IMAX film prints for The Dark Knight Rises. The video confirms what we've been seeing for a while now, the official runtime is nearly 3 hours, clocking in at 2 hours and 45 minutes.   I saw the premiere of Iron Man in IMAX back in 2008. The lineup was insane. I musta been standing for 4 hours. Sitting down in those big theater seats never felt so good. So, be prepared to stand in line before the showing.

  For me too, man! Here in Brazil (rio de janeiro) there's only two theaters with IMAX technology... And one of them is kind of next to my house, what's great! I'm so excited and I have 30 years old! \o/

    Film/Theater industry alerted: I won't be paying a cent to watch Spiderman. It looks pretty terrible (IMO) and the reviews of it have been pretty bad so far. I'll just download a good copy of it when it hits.

      The reviews I have been seeing for the amazing spiderman is either 6/10, 7/10, 8/10, 9/10, or 10/10 i dont think its that bad but the average review if the movie was 7.5/10. I still dont think they needed a reboot this soon but it could work.

      Just got back from Spiedy , I lOVED it realy great film , i am now a massive fan of all involved , Mark webb realy owned this , it realy felt like i was watching a little indie character piece not a Hollywood Blockbuster , carnt praise Garfield and Stone enough , Batman will always be my number one Hero but i have always had a soft spot for Spiderman and i tell you heading into the climax of the movie there is a sequence involving some cranes i wont spoil but i would be lying if i said i didnt get a little lump in my throat and a tear in my eye ! O no EBo the emo bitch is back LMAO = ) Must see for all comic book fans 9 / 10 !

Saw The Dark Knight in IMAX and I'm still blown away by it!
Booked my tickets fot the The Dark Knight Rises as soon as they went on sale thanks to this site :-)

Hell yeah I'm watching this in IMAX. The bad thing is that it is Digital IMAX, and not 15/70 IMAX. But I saw The Dark Knight in Digital IMAX and it was awesome.

What a cool intresting vid can you imagine the pressure that guy is under ? I have 2 big fears 1. Getting hit by a bus before the 20 th LOL and 2 . That there is a technical hicup in the cinema = ( This has happened to me a couple of times Once when the curtain failed to fully open at the start of AVATAR and during INCEPTION when miday way through the sound dipped out to unhearable levels ! I hope the guy running the projector is as commited as this guy ! Great vid .

This Friday the 13th (eeck! spooky...) is when theaters (FINALLY) get their hands on the The Dark Knight Rises. If you know a friend who works in the theater, NOW would be the time to call in a favor they owe you. They use the week before the show date to set it up the reel and sound. In Imax format, that shit is 600 pounds! That's like a gorilla, nobody is stealing that shit, you need a forklift just to load it in the spindle!
I've heard of movies sold out in advance of months like in TDK, but this is the first time I heard people from the west side flying over to the east side just to see the midnight showing before anyone else does: BALLER. Damn, if I shit gold bricks, I'd install Imax in my home theater and pay WB for the screening rights. Hell, I'd pay Nolan, Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway to give me live commentary, now that's how I roll.

  I do kind of wish that they do live commentary on their dvd/blu ray with Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale and Chris Nolan but I doubt it

  If I remember rightly tdk reviews told it woz 2 n half hrs long, but wen it actually ends with gary oldman talkin its 2 hrs 20

  I don't think they're taking too long. The movie is still 17 days away (for Canada and US). To be honest I don't want to hear/read one single review or critique of the movie before I get a chance to see it. A lot of times someone's critique of the film will sully or bias my perception of it. Even if there are no spoilers in the review, a simple "it's good" or "it's bad" summary will fuck up the experience for me. I want to see it completely unbiased. Just like I did with Inception. Chris Nolan's movies deserve that much. At least.

        As far as i know, the only 'true' appropriate IMAX for TDKR is located in São Paulo capital. :/
        But fuck it! UCI will take all my money!!

  We have an A/V IMAX. The seats are leather and they shake to the frequencies of the bass. That's the best way (IMO). :)

Nolan will be honored at Hollywood's Chinese Theater putting his hand and feet print into cement.
Cast from the movie are contractually obligated to appear in talk shows leading up to the movie premiere. (Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Today Show, etc)
NYC premiere days before July 20th.

  The press junket is probably the worst part of show biz. Just imagine being asked the same questions over and over and smiling all the time and saying good things about the studio and cast, stroke the ego of the director. Just watched Emma Stone talk to Yahoo Movies about Spider-man, the guy get paid to meet celebrities and ask unoriginal questions ever, making the whole thing feel scripted...and the stars can't leave because they are afraid of negative publicity and are contractually obligated during the press window of a films release.

Just checked and the rerelease of that is 171, but perhaps only the 162 minute version was shown in IMAX theatres.
Regardless, 165 minutes has me very interested. That's like "Godfather" epic.
Will be interesting to see how the film is paced. One thing I thought was kind of cool about 'The Dark Knight' is that around the 2 hour mark the film kind of feels like it's almost finished (having wrapped up the Harvey Dent story and just about finished the Joker story) then it gives us a half hour of Two-Face.

  harvey dent/two face is, so far, my favorite vilains in Nolan's trilogy.
  We've got 4 brand new characters (Bane, Kyle, Blake and Tate) plus Doc Pavel and Ra's' come back. 2h45 is a good and average length time. One hour of Imax = one hour of action sequence and... 1h45?

I won't be seeing this movie on the premiere day because, frankly, I do not care whether I see it the same day it comes out or a week later. I certainly don't want to stand in line for hours and hours, just to see the exact same thing anyone who sees the film will see. I just want to see it. Period. With that said, (putting this out there to everyone) please don't spoil the movie. :)

  A big reason I want to see it soon is to minimize spoilers. Imagine if Batman dies and/or Robin appears. You think that'll stay secret for long? And as much as you try to shield yourself from stuff, sometimes you just overhear it by accident. For example, yesterday I overheard someone say Anderson Cooper came out of the closet.

But yeah i have just realised i am happy about the lack of knowledge i have on TDKR i have been very selective in what i have read ! once this film hits a member of the publics eyes details will be leaked ! so everyone be strong avoid it and see this film as fresh as possible !
      I wonder if TedDibesie from SuperHeroHype has still avoided all the trailers and spots LMFAO !

Yeah, i'm waiting til next week to get my tickets because i don't know how my work schedule is, and with the closest IMAX being 45 minutes away, plus a runtime of almost 3 hours, i doubt i'd be able to make it to a midnight showing, and then be able to get to work at 7am the next day LOL!!!!
What sucks about that though is that if i wait that long, tickets might not still be available by the time i wanna get them =/

From Kansas and my ancient has the marathon in imax. Best 40 bucks spent. The only thing I hate it is what time to show up. I wish they had reserved seating for those who bought tickets

  What do you think a guy like that gets paid? I know a "projectionist" certainly doesn't make much more than $18-20 an hour, but these guys must "audio/video engineers" or something... looks like a decent job.

I'm still thinking about whether or not to see it in IMAX. On one handhand it's a long drive to that theater, on the other this is a huge event and should be seen in all its glory.
