'The Dark Knight Rises' viral marketing is back, leads to new trailer [Update]

The viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight Rises is back! The official website has been updated and the Gotham City Police need your help to bring in the Batman. Scroll through the police documents and you'll come across a list of locations that have evidence. Right now these locations are all outside of the United States and Canada, but those countries will be added to the list at 11am EST. You'll need to go to the location with your phone and take a picture (make sure it records your location) and then tweet it with the hashtag #tdkr07202012 or email it to tdkr07202012@gothampolicedepartment.com. When you do, you'll unlock 1 frame of The Dark Knight Rises trailer #3, which is on this new website: tdkr07202012.com (just keep scrolling to see what has already been revealed). We may not have to wait until Friday to see the new trailer with The Avengers! Hit up the source link below and lets enjoy this new viral game.

Update: n-sb has put together a bunch of the frames from The Dark Knight Rises trailer #3 and made a .gif out of them.

  Anyone notice the new DC logo?... looks like it'll probably be the one they use for the opening credits... sucks for lack of continuity between the films (and i think the old one looked better for these types of films)

Yes! I knew another viral marketing would begin soon :) Yay! However, I won't be playing along since I can totally just wait until The Avengers comes on out Friday. If anyone else does this, please let us know what the frame is. Pretty please with a cherry on top?!

  I watched Avengers yesterday and it's a very good action movie! Rufallo and Downey Jr carried the movie on their backs... the high points of the film are Iron Man and Hulk, no doubt! Hulk steals the show every time he appears on screen! Thor is pretty cool too. Good film, high level entertainment... not a masterpiece and it not the best CBM ever made, but a very good one!
  Tip: avoid the 3D as much as you can! Useless and lame.

  That's what I meant. When you take a picture at a location, it unlocks 1 frame. When all the locations are done, we should have all the frames and the new trailer! :)

When we got closer to the release date for TDK the viral granted a few people early screenings. I hope they do that again as well.

  When looking at the frames it tells you where the picutres for those frames were submited from. Some of the locations were already American.

Avengers was just all special effects like the transformers! no more no less! I believe it has to end. 300-350mil will be fine for them. Let TDKR roll now! July 2012 is approaching :)

  I completely disagree. 'The Avengers' has a potential of achieving One BILLION dollars world wide - It has already made 180 mill overseas with some of the early released countries - Joss Whedon will deliver much more to the fans then Bay did. - I am a fanboy in general not just a DC fellow so I will stick up for both worlds unless there is a reason not to.

    There may be a bit more to some Marvel movies than the shit Bay turns out and we can all hope for a good movie when it comes to The Avengers, but it will pale in comparison to The Dark Knight Rises as every Marvel movie is, aesthetically, nothing when compared to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

      True! My excitement for TDKR outweighs the excitement for TA immeasurably. TA is a good action movie and WILL make a lot of money but TDKR is something much bigger.These two movies shouldn't be compared with each other.TA is a fun action movie while TDKR is a serious drama action movie with more depth.

        I watched Avengers and i think it was pretty cool! Far from being a masterpiece or something, the story is weak, but it's pretty a damn great action movie! High level entertainment, very light hearted. But TDKR will be another level shit, we can't really compare those two.

    I will give you a reason too right now. Aside from about 5 minutes worth of fanboys wet dreams coming true The Avengers is boring and humdrum. Remove The Hulk from this film and it is utter shite.

  Avengers will do well, but I don't think it'll top TDK. For starters, if you're someone who didn't bother to see Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, or The Incredible Hulk, why would you go to Avengers? Of all those movies, Iron Man did the best, but not nearly as well as TDK. Therefore, it's unlikely that Avengers will do much better than Iron Man. Let's also keep in mind that TDK wasn't really a comic book movie. Sure, it's about Batman, The Joker and Two-Face. But in a lot of ways, it was a crime drama where the main character just happened to dress up as a bat. Then you have the themes and ideas that the movie tried to explore. This wasn't your standard hero-saves-the-world-by-defeating-villain plot. Nolan dealt with the war on terror, which I think really resonated with people in 2008. From what I've seen of Avengers and what critics have said, even the ones who gave good reviews, the movie isn't that deep. It's basically a summer popcorn movie. Of course, movies like that still make a lot of money. Just look at Transformers or Star Wars. It's too early to say how TDKR will do. But if Nolan has tapped into the cultural zeitgeist again, it could connect with audiences in a way that Avengers-saving-world-from-alien-invasion never could.

It is obvious that this trailer(even in its non-action moments)shows a lot of Batman and Catwoman and Bane which is what everybody wants!OMG,that pic of Bane holding Bruce's neck !!! Also I love the crystallized Bat logo near the end ! And the Batwing,of course ! Oh boy,this is getting insane!

Note to all, it seems that all of these addresses are movie theaters. I looked up the two Tempe, AZ addresses and they are for the Marquee Theatre and Harkins Tempe Marketplace.

  the trailer= 133seconds
  133*100=13000 maybe more than that if they choose to divide the trailer into something smaller than a frame
