ugh... Batman married to a woman named elizabeth and retaking the bat mantle to avenge her death. Lex luthor planning the whole thing so bats and supes killed each other. Altough I'm looking forward to read that script, I sincerely thank god for Nolan.

Wow I need to get this book. Sounds incredibly intriguing. I wonder if he talks about Tim Burton's "Superman Lives" and "Batman Triumphant" in it somewhere?

While I do admit, it would be kinda cool to see Superman and Batman together, wether it's against each other or not, in a movie I like the vision of NOLAN more than that idea. Nolan once said that if Superman and Batman existed in each others world, Bruce would've made another reason to become Batman. If I can find that interview, I'll share it with you all.

I love the Nolan movies and am glad we got them but I still wouldn't mind taking a trip to an alternate universe that had Batman Triumphant. Schumacher reportedly was going to bring it back to the dark Burton Batman tone and have Nicholson come back as Joker in some fear toxin induced hallucinations. I'm not trying to start an argument about Nicholson's Joker (thought he was great in the Burton universe) or Schumacher's skills (he can and HAS made some great films). I'm just saying that would be an interesting film to see how it played out if the rumors about how it was going to be were true. I even heard Schumacher wanted to kill of Batgirl or Robin at the start of the movie.

I feel the same way, Batman and Robin was a movie WB wanted so the could sell toys and rushed JS to make it but when I read about what he was going to do with Triumphant I was interested and it's a shame we didn't get it. I read Robin was going to make the jump to Nighwing by the end.

After reading these two articles, I'm now more convinced than ever that Chris Nolan was truly the best person to bring Batman to the big screen. First, Sam Hamm is an idiot. To do a Batman movie but not explain his origins makes no sense to me. You have a guy dressing up as a bat fighting crime. The audience will want to know why. Why does he want to fight crime? Why does he choose to operate outside the law? Why does he decide to dress up as a bat? The 1989 film doesn't care to answer any of these questions. By dodging the issue altogether, you're basically telling the audience that you have no good answer. That was the big problem with the first Batman movie. You really got a sense that the film makers just weren't that interested in Batman as a character. I can't remember if it was Sam Hamm or Jon Peters who said moviegoers wouldn't be interested in seeing Batman's origins. Well obviously Batman Begins proved him wrong. Tim Burton also said that Batman was weird. I disagree. Batman is psychologically scarred and angry and creates this alternate persona as a way to deal with a lot of it. By trying to portray him as weird, Burton revealed his true agenda. Most of his films are about weird people, perhaps because he identifies with such people. So it seems like Burton changed the Batman character to suit his own sensibilities, effectively creating a different character and calling him Batman. That, to me, is disrespectful to the fans, though nowhere near as bad as what Joel Schumacher and George Clooney were guilty of. They tried to give us a Batman who was gay.

As for the Frank Miller/Darren Aronofsky script, I'm so glad that didn't get made. It sounds awful. It's fine to modernize certain things, but I despise when writers completely rewrite a character's origins. This is almost as bad as J.J. Abrams Superman script, the one that supposedly revealed Lex Luthor to be Kryptonian.

Lastly, the Superman vs. Batman idea just sounds ridiculous. I'll never understand why fanboys are excited about seeing their favorite superheroes fight one another. You know that it won't last and that by the end of story they'll be allies again. So what's the point? When Harvey Dent turned on his allies, it carried weigh because you knew things would never be the same between him and Gordon and Batman. And those casting ideas alone make me cringe. Seriously, Josh Hartnett as Superman? The guy's expressive as Keanu Reeves. And Colin Farrell as Batman? LOL. A Batman who can barely hide his Irish accent. Chris Nolan got it right on so many levels. The right approach to the character, the right casting, the right look-and-feel to Batman's world. Except for Katie Holmes and maybe how he wrote the Rachel Dawes character, I can't think of any big mistakes he's made with respect to Batman.

UNRELATED: How come the possibility of the TDKR movie taking on Batman Beyond (the tv series) storyline hasn't been mentioned?
We know Bruce Wayne uses a cane. We know Bane beats his ass. And most importantly, we know Joseph Gordon Levitt is starring in this movie -- granted, we don't know if he's going to play Batman's apprentice (Terry McGinnis), but we can rest assured he's playing a significant role. Why else would they cast that caliber of an actor? That's like asking Brad Pitt to play Henchman #2.

Not sure I'm following your logic. Joseph Gordon Levitt didnt have the most important role in the world in Inception. You don't know he has a starring role.
I think the idea of Joseph Gordon Levitt being Robin or the next Batman is so ridiculous.

  The idea of JGL as Robin would be both ridiculous and impossible since A) Nolan said he wouldn't have Robin in his movies and B) Christian Bale said he would not play the role of Batman if there was a Robin.

    I didn't say "I think he'd play Robin". I was surprised that I haven't heard mention of the Batman Beyond storyline. Wherein Bruce is an elderly injured man and is forced to retire his role as Batman. His retirement prompts Terry McGinnis to don the cape and train with Bruce to become the new Batman.
    Anyways, I highly highly doubt that will be the case, but I was just saying...

  You're right. His role in Inception wasn't a lead starring role. But it was significant none the less. He had a decent amount of screen time too. I know comparing him to Brad Pitt (in terms of status of actor is concerned) is completely off-base, but I was just suggesting the fact that JGL is too important of an actor to merely be cast as an unnecessary extra.

I liked the synopsis of 'Bat vs Supes', hope to see that movie someday (with other script and ideas), and will be a DREAM see Clint Eastwood as Batman, directing by Darren Aronfosky, but not 'Batman Year One', but definitly 'The Dark Knight Returns'.
