Operation Early Bird, part of the The Dark Knight Rises' viral campaign, is now live! The website now redirects to a map with coordinates of IMAX theaters that will be showing the prologue early, on December 13th. The site is very slow right now, but head on over and see if you can score yourself early access to The Dark Knight Rises' prologue!

Nope...just got 2 free tickets to see it next week from operationearlybird and I was so close to shelling out my hard earned cash to see MIGP just to see the prologue. WB has made my weekend..yippee!!
OH MY GOD! i can't believe i actually got tickets!!! it waited for the site to load for soooo long and it finally did!!!..... "SOMETIMES PEOPLE DESERVE TO HAVE THEIR FAITH REWARDED"

ya, "operation early bird" is great news for the thousands of people who don't live near one of the selected imax theaters. NOT. It's just one more reminder that we wont get to see it.

Ok, is it just me, or does the map that showed up look like the US is flooding? I mean look at California, it seems like the Pacific is flowing into it more than other maps tend to show and the southwestern tip of Florida looks to be having issues. And what's up with Greenland?

I understand some of the hate if you don't live near said IMAX screens, but as far as a viral standpoint, I think its really awesome!!! Not only do we get to see the prologue early, but we dont have to spend 14 plus dollars on Mission Impossible! Plus maybe we will get to see it a few times and with batman fans to boot, so we can all together bitch about Bane's voice! LOL. Gonna be awesome, can't wait!!!
can anyone confirm or deny if you keep putting the coordinates they will put it in the imax nearest you or are these the select imax listings?

Sorry but is it me or just frustration that it's totally freakin' bull**** that are TOO FEW dots on that friggin' map?!
All this technology in a modern world and the world lacks IMAX screens.
To be honest this is not fun at all and not what I was waiting for at all.
Not to be overly critical but I do expect some sort of compensation coz It's just not feeling right and fair to be left behind.
But hey another good reason to get smashed again. Stupid map.. should DDOS that thing back to where it came from. I want to be excited again, the feeling of my heartbeat raised because I'm seeing things I cannot believe. Fans should be kept happy at all times period.

You what this is all about? Money. That's all WB is trying to get out of this. Trying to get hardcore Batman fans like us to spend $15 for a 6-min IMAX prologue. Don't get me wrong, I want to see it just as badly as everyone else does but I'm not driving 50 miles (spending 100 miles down and back on gas) then dishing out $15 to watch 6 minutes of a preview. Sorry.
I don't care if the quality is shit, I'll wait for a bootleg version of it and so will millions of other people. So why not let everyone experience it either online or in standard theaters? Try and make some money off it now before we all see it and forget about it.
If WB was smart, they'd release the prologue on ITunes in HD or in standard theaters. Most theaters now have at least 1 IMAX screen too, but WB won't release TDKR in these theaters, thats what's really BS. You could release this in IMAX, ITunes and in standard theaters and charge people ex-amount of money to watch it or rent it and make twice as much money as getting people to travel to a select IMAX. There are a lot smarter ways to get people to spend less money and still allow everyone to watch this. Afterall isn't that why they made the film? I know it's meant to be experienced in IMAX, but not everyone can make it to one.
I'm really hoping Batman News will give us a link (at the very least) to a bootlegged version because we know BOF won't.
GODOFKNIGHT...the preview tickets offered today are FREE!!!.... yep, you read right...it's FREE!!! However, a bit of a shame for the real eager TDKR fans who already purchased tickets to MIBGP just to see the prologue...I guess the consolation is MIGP is suppose to be a good movie.
Yeah so if you live in Montana or the Dakota's what good does that do for them? Or Canada? Or anywhere in the Northwest for that matter?
The point is people have to drive ex-amount of miles just to see this. Not all of us are right across the street from an IMAX theater.
I guess I shouldn't worry tho. Council Bluffs, Iowa hasn't sold out yet considering about 100 people live in that no-name town. I guess I'll book a $800 flight to check it out there.
I'm with you 110% it's a bullshit move no doubt, I'm in columbus ohio with at least 4 theaters within a mile of my house, 3 with digital imax, yet there's not a single showing not just in columbus but all of ohio
I live in Columbus too and was bummed when I found out it wasn't gonna be at either Easton or Lennox. I'm just gonna wait til July and drive to Indianapolis to see the whole movie in all its IMAX glory!
This site confirmed a while back that the prologue is only on real IMAX cinemas.. if you don't live near one, it just wasn't meant to be and it is not like it is the end of the world. You said they want hardcore fans to "spend $15 on a 6-minute IIMAX prologue" which is not accurate if the ticket is free.
The hardcore fans are the only ones who even realize there's some BS viral marketing campaign even going on. Nobody else even knows what's going on right now. Most fans just know there's a prologue showing on IMAX and even if they do realize they might have a shot at free tickets, it'll be too late.
Your right, I guess it's not meant to be, that is until we all see it on some crappy cell phone bootleg version the way it wasn't meant to be experienced. I guess WB wasn't meant to get our money then.

I don't really understand why so many people are arguing against you, you make a very good point. All they need to do is the same exact thing they did for the Dark Knight, release the prologue on EVERY imax screening of mission impossible - 70mm and digital. They did that with the last prologue and it worked out perfectly. I don't know, seems pretty simple to me.
I agree. Why not show it to the masses through you tube and get more people to see the full movie later? I really don't feel like going out in the cold late at night to see it.
You know, they ARE putting out a general release 2-minute trailer as well, most likely attached to MI:GP. That'll certainly have many more intriguing images that we'll all be talking about & obsessing over for the next several months. I'm sorry that you don't have easy access to a true IMAX screen so you could see the prologue for free (as I type this at 8:45pm PST, only 3 locations have filled up) but it's really just the first 6 minutes of a movie you're going to see eventually anyway.
And let's not forget that there's an actual MOVIE with one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, which paying audiences will be seeing right after the prologue. Mission Impossible was going to IMAX theaters anyway, it's not like WB is banking on overly-hardcore Batman fans to boost this movie to a #1 opening weekend. MI's box office take was a given the moment the release date was announced. What's more, I know several Batman fans who are intentionally NOT going to see the prologue, because they want to keep as much in the dark abut the movie until it actually opens.
