Exclusive: New Orleans Confirmed, Filming Starts in April [Updated]

You've read the rumors about The Dark Knight Rises filming in New Orleans. Websites like SuperHeroHype have reported it, but were light on the details. Well I'm happy to be able to confirm that The Dark Knight Rises crew will be headed to NOLA in April. It's been said that NOLA would be used entirely for interior shoots, but I've heard differently.

My source tells me that right now Warner Bros. is in the pre-production phase, scoping out locations, trying to figure out how to make the city appear "larger" than it actually is [see update below]. Specifically, the Warehouse District has been contacted as a possible candidate for on location filming. It's unclear what this means for Chicago and the UK, though I suspect they'll be back to those locations as well.

That's all for now, but I should have more information as we get closer to the April start date (probably around February). Stay tuned to Batman-News.com for all the latest on The Dark Knight Rises news as we near production early next year.

Update: Have some more info for you guys. Aside from the Warehouse District it's unclear as to what they want to do in New Orleans. They will not be focusing on making the city appear "larger" as previously reported. However, a studio is being specially constructed for the film. My source also confirms that they will be returning to Chicago for the majority of exterior shooting.

theyre probably just filming in warehouses and such there to save $$ on the tax breaks- as opposed to what i previously thought which was alot of exterior shots (and my hopes for an awesome killer croc, oh well). I CANT WAIT FOR MORE NEWS! thanks for being such a great reliable source for my addiction!

Yes I agree, great site and things are gonna start getting CRAZY over the next few months so update as often as you can :)
And as for New Orleans, i guess its a pity they may not be filming exteriors, personally i thought Killer Croc would've been an interesting villain for Nolan to work with to say the least

Hi guys!
My Entertainment World says shooting will start on the 4th of April. No idea if that's a tentative date or not, but I've found them to be pretty reliable in the past.

  I'll be getting more details on the shoot as we get closer to April too. I'm excited! Hopefully the virals will start up again around that time too. It's going to be one heck of a ride :)
