Warner Bros. wants Batman in 3D?

Hollywood in HiDef is reporting that Warner Bros. is pushing director Christopher Nolan to make Batman 3 a 3D film.

Prevailing opinions at Warner [Bros.] are that Nolan will not enjoy the luxury of taking a pass on 3D for the new Batman movie, which will surely be set up for 3D from the beginning.

This past week in Rome at an Inception press conference, Nolan talked about making 3D movies. He confirmed that he is looking into the technology, but feels IMAX is better fit for what he wants to do on screen. Check out the video below where Nolan gives his opinion on 3D.

I don't hate 3D, I just don't whant Batman 3 to be in 3D.

I'm not a big fan of all this 3D stuff. I can't imagine 3D TV's getting popular, especially when each pair of glasses is around $150! If WB forces Nolan to make Batman in 3D I'm sure it'll be the "fake" post production 3D. I don't think Nolan will be shooting this with 3D cameras like James Cameron.

Whatever gets us better quality and a faster release I'm all up for. I feel like fans will get a sense of betrayal of trust and that gimmicky feeling if it does come out in 3D. I know I avoid movies that only have that particular attribute to flaunt

I am a fan of 3D (as in filmed in 3D) but its up to the director if they want 3D or not, not the studios. Im also a fan of the IMAX cameras, which I love to see more and Nolan has the right film to take it to a full length IMAX film with Batman 3.

Yeah unfortunately the studios convert the movies to 3D in post production now if the director won't film in 3D. That's why besides Avatar, most of these "3D" movies have been pretty poor...

  Avatar, Tron Legacy and most animated films so far are on top of 3D and yeah there needs to be a stop for studios wanting to convert films into 3D, looks like its starting with Harry Potter dropping their 3D conversion.

    Yeah apparently converting Harry Potter to 3D was taking too long and they weren't going to be able to hit their deadline. The next one is still scheduled to be 3D. Unfortunately I think Batman 3 may get converted, especially with Marvel's Spiderman coming out in 3D just a few weeks sooner.
