4 on Absolute Power: Origins #3 ReviewAbsolute Power: Origins concludes with this third issue, and I haven’t been too hot on the series so far. Amanda Waller’s motivations behind the Absolute Power event have been confusing and a little convoluted, but does the third issue bring it home and paint a clear picture of why Waller is who she is? Let’s…
In the first issue of Absolute Power: Origins, Amanda Waller’s motivations were revealed. To be honest, those motivations didn’t make sense and the issue fell flat. But now that we know how she established her ties with the government; with the second issue, we find out how she created the infamous Task Force X a.k.a.…
Amanda Waller's plan to stop all of the world's metahumans hinges on her adaptable team of Amazo androids. However, as each of them absorb the powers of the Justice League, they begin to develop fatal flaws. Namely, Task Force VII #5 covers the somewhat sad state of the Flash powered "Velocity." Let's get up to…
Unfortunately, the word is out. Thanks to Failsafe, Braniac Queen, and her army of Amazos, Amanda Waller has won. Unexpectedly, every metahuman on earth must hide from Waller's power stealing A.I. she affectionately refers to as Task Force VII. Subsequently, this series follows that hunt for the remaining heroes and metas hoping to turn the…
Dreamer has been captured by Task Force X, and they are on their way to deliver her to Amanda Waller, as she has plans for the dream-walking heroine. Will the Squad see that they are on the wrong side of this fight and back up Dreamer? Or is there nothing stopping Amanda Waller from achieving…
In preparation for the final issue of Kill Arkham Asylum, I got familiar with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. With one final member of the team left to go, let's take a look at how the stories intersect. This time, we saddle up with Nanue, The King Shark! A Small Pond Although King Shark…
Dreamer has gone AWOL, and the reorganized Task Force X has a new objective: capture her alive by any means necessary and bring her back to Waller. Waller obviously has ulterior motives that could threaten the future of the whole planet. But in her mind, she is doing the right thing. This penultimate issue of…
The new Squad has been assembled and tasked with infiltrating the island nation of Gamorra to stop some insurgents from taking over the island’s weapons and defense systems. But not all is what it seems as Amanda Waller obviously has an ulterior motive, and Nia Nal, a.k.a. Dreamer, is caught in Waller’s warpath. Does the…
During this week's Anime Expo 2023, Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio unveil their new Suicide Squad based anime series called Suicide Squad Isekai. The story follows Batman foes Harley Quinn, The Joker, and other DC villains as they find themselves in a "violent fantasy world." Of course, the word "Isekai" itself refers to the…
According to a report by Bloomberg, Rocksteady's highly anticipated Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video game has been delayed to next year. Jason Schreier's article cites "people familiar with its development" as his source, along with a tweet from Warner Media Chief Executive Officer Jason Kilar. Kilar's tweetKilar's tweet included a mission statement for Warner…
Suicide Squad just keeps getting better. I know I keep saying it, but I’ll stop when this book does. Robbie Thompson has absolutely been crushing it on this title for a good long while now, and everything that’s been building for the past few issues comes to a head in this incredible conclusion to this…
Foreword Apologies in advance for this review probably getting rambly or disjointed, everyone. I had surgery yesterday and these post-op drugs are hitting hard. I'm doing okay, and I'm looking forward to finally being free of that damn cyst. Enough about little old me, though, Let's get to the book! The Actual Review If you'd…
I don't know what they've been feeding Robbie Thompson over there at DC, but get him some more of it. I finally feel like he's starting to pick up steam, bringing the Suicide Squad-ness of his team to the forefront. This run is finally starting to come together, and I can officially say I'm excited…
As you guys might know, this series has been on less than sturdy ice with me. You might also know that the premise for this issue is a heist episode set on Oa. Now, you should know that all has been forgiven. That's awesome. OAceans Eleven Don't say it. I know it was a stretch.…
I swore to myself when I saw I was being hit with a double Suicide Squad week that I would save the best for last, and review issue #8 before this annual. Unfortunately, I can't do that, because someone made the decision that the annual should directly continue and expand on issue #6 so much…
Suicide Squad issue #7 is here! All of our questions for issue #6 will be answered! Who is the other Superboy? What is Waller up to? Where's Rick Flagg? Who let him out? All questions that should naturally be answered in the directly next issue, right? Right? Wrong! BUCKLE UP, BUCKAROOS, THE SUICIDE SQUAD IS…
Sugar. Spice. And everything nice. These are the ingredients that were conspicuously missing from the first 4 issues of Robbie Thompson's Suicide Squad. These past two issues seem to have accidentally added all of them, as well as a good helping of... CHEMICAL (Task Force) X Or maybe just some entertaining writing, who knows? Let's take a…
Okay. I'm going to be honest. Suicide Squad infuriates me. I absolutely cannot understand how this book could go from a solidly mediocre beginning, to whatever last issue was, to something this GOOD. This issue is so insanely entertaining, it legitimately makes me upset that this hasn't been the whole book. All's Fair in Blood and Sport Perhaps…
