15 on Beast World #6 reviewWe've made it to the end! Like any uncomfortably long and rough road trip, all I want to do is get out and kiss the ground. Before Tom Taylor's Beast World ends, the heroes must figure out how to stop Dr. Hate and Amanda Waller's plans. Show Your Work I don't know when or how,…
As usual, DC promises that every event will be "a game changer," and that the universe "won't be the same." To this end, Beast World features violent mass murder and trauma throughout that world. Most importantly, our optimistic changeling, Beast Boy, is now dead. Before the DC Universe can mourn the lost hero, they must…
This month Detective Comics kicks into high gear as Batman and his allies charge forward to confront the Orghams. Will pushing the pace into a higher gear jump start this run, and breathe some much needed momentum into things? Let’s see. Right away I want to say that I am so glad to see faster…
After teasing some further details about the Orgham’s past last month, this issue of Detective Comics makes good on its promise and delivers a backstory meant to give depth, and answer at least a few questions about what’s going on. Since we've seen so much of the family over this series, does this backstory really…
After a three part lead up to this in the backups, and an explosive ending last month, this issue of Detective Comics promises to focus heavily on Harvey Dent and his continuing struggle against himself and the azmer inside him. However things turn out, it’s sure to be interesting. I’ve long said that Harvey Dent…
After last month’s rather chilly ending to the main issue, and flash to the past during the annual, Detective Comics continues its exploration of Gotham’s past, and future with this latest installment. With the addition of Mr. Freeze into the mix, and the Orghams taking more and more steps to control Gotham, things are sure…
This month we return to Detective Comics as it picks up in another movement--strain--scene? Of Gotham Overture, this time titled: Something in the Way. It’s been a while since I took a music class, and we never studied operas, so forgive my spotty memory on how best to turn the titles of this series into…
Over the past two issues of this arc we’ve seen the Riddler weave riddles over the airwaves and Gotham citizens committing crimes without a solid reason. Tied with it all, is the mystery of Judge Donovon and the first of these crimes: the bombing of her courtroom. With the arc wrapping up, will Batman finally…
This issue Batman’s latest mystery deepens as the Riddler’s questions fill the airwaves, and citizens all around Gotham continue to commit crimes for no apparent reason. With a few more crimes, and more unanswered questions, will Batman figure this one out, or be left floundering? The story opens on Bruce and Judge Donoven having dinner…
Starting this August, DC will be releasing a series of 64-page one-shots, each featuring a different Batman villain. The series is called Batman – One Bad Day and will feature different creative teams on each project. Some of the titles see the return of veterans like Tom King and Mitch Gerads reuniting on the Riddler…
When I first applied to write reviews for this site I wrote a practice review for Detective Comics and sent it in, with the hope that I could simply join the team. And now at last, I’m lucky enough to be given the opportunity to properly review the title itself. I am so excited to…
I hope you're sitting, because... it's here. We're finally getting a highly detailed, premium quality statue of Batman and Robin. Yes, Batman AND Robin. No, it's not Carrie Kelly. It's really Batman and Dick Grayson together again, and it's amazing! In fact, I briefly considered titling this review "It's about damn time." Review Based on…
