2 on Batman - Santa Claus: Silent Knight reviewHappy Holidays, Bat-fans! It’s been a rough past few days for me (no need to worry, just the standard Christmas travel nightmares!), so it’s nice to finally have a chance to sit down and read what has been one of my favorite comics this month! We’re doing this 4-issue miniseries in one go, but if…
This is it! Beginning when Andrew Bennett couldn't keep his woman in check, DC Vs. Vampires' drives the bloodshed to a surprisingly domestic conclusion. As Batgirl's forces make a play at The Dark King, everyone else scrambles to fight back the vampire horde. Hunters, Killers, And All-Out War Let's start with John Constantine. This story…
After a long prelude, the war for the three kingdoms finally begins! Hippolyta, Amanda Waller, and the newly crowned Queen Anissa meet face to face on the battlefield. Although, the growing tension between the armies shorten the discussion and edge them all closer to mutually assured oblivion. Medieval politics have not been the same after…
The best laid schemes of mice and men often go awry. However, the plans of our super men and women have finally started to come together. Victory has come fairly easy for the bloodsucking regime ruling the DC Universe, but this may be the chance to meaningfully flip the script! This week in DC Vs.…
Hey there, Bat Fans! For those of you who didn’t know, I went to NYCC earlier this month, and it was incredible. Nick and Casper tagged along, which was super fun (more on that here), and I’m looking forward to doing it again next year! While I was there, I was lucky enough to get…
For every evil vampire, there is a vengeful soul out there looking for them. With the forces of good in the DC Universe mostly obliterated, there aren't many heroes not looking for vengeance. However, Supergirl's journey in DC Vs. Vampires #9 seeks out something beyond the horror. The story picks up as vampires Tobias Whale…
SVOT is a heavily used business term. It is an acronym for the phrase, “Single Version Of The Truth.” It means that everyone in the organization has the same information, and should essentially be on the same page. In DC Vs. Vampires, I’m not seeing the synergy. When we last left off, Jayna had just…
Every generation tends to have their own Green Lantern. In 1972, the late Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams created one of the most iconic Green Lanterns of all time: John Stewart. For several years since, he's been a staple member of the Justice League and Green Lantern Corps. in comics and animated adaptations. Most notably,…
Ah, screw it. Spoilers, I suppose. I was going to write a long-winded analogy about something fun I could compare this book to, but it's not worth my time. This book isn't fun - why should I pretend, even for a moment, that I'm having fun discussing it? Let's get into one of the worst…
We've done it! It's over! Well, sort of. Justice League has been something of a mess since... well, in all honesty, since I started reviewing the comic. While having several ups and downs since the end of Scott Snyder's run, issues #40 through #74 have been, above all else, directionless. Bendis' arrival hinted at the iconic team…
When's the last time you really cared about the Justice League? For me, it was probably 2018, with the conclusion of No Justice shortly following Dark Nights: Metal. There was a level of momentum to that story that I adored, and it bought me enough good will to enjoy a lot of Snyder and Tynion's writing…
Joshua Williamson will be replacing Brian Michael Bendis as Justice League writer with April 19th's issue #75... where he will end the series with the death of the world's greatest superheroes! Williamson is teaming up with artist Rafa Sandovel of The Flash to create this 48-page special, which will see the League falling in battle against…
Let me be perfectly clear: I know the risk I'm running by being excited for this book. I know what you're all going to say. Bendis' pretty good but abandoned Legion of Super-Heroes crosses over with Bendis' less than good Justice League? Absolute recipe for disaster. But yet again, as the world's premier (and only (don't call…
Hey all! Nick's still on vacation, so I'm covering Justice League for him this week! Shouldn't be too rough, I love the League! Now, let's see what we have her- Oh. Justice League: The Biggest Score Ever, Part Two (Alternatively: this issue is a comic! It's part of a comic book!) Hey, is Brian Michael Bendis…
Dark Knights of Steel #1 had a lot of ground to cover, wouldn’t you say Matina? For sure! It was a busy, busy first issue. If I’m honest, it was a little too much for me. In our first review, I covered the lengths writer Tom Taylor and artist Yasmine Putri went to pack as…
Okay, this is getting exhausting. I like to think my reviews have a modicum of effort put into them. Whether or not you agree with my assessments, I tend to put a good few hours into each article I put up. I consider it a serious privilege to be able to post my thoughts to…
You know, there's nothing quite so existentially horrifying as hittting 23 years of age, and realizing the first thing you have to do is review an issue of Brian Michael Bendis' Justice League - which is exactly why this review is late! I'd apologize, but read this panel and then tell me you don't understand. Luckily,…
Wow! I hated this issue! Like, oh my god! At first I thought it was the state of mind I was in at the time of my first reading, but no - looking through it again, I could not bring myself to like this. At all! Not even the usual high standard of Justice League…
After being blinded by some extremely charming Green Arrow/Question content last issue, I realized this time around that I forgot to ask one very important question: No really, who is Daemon Rose? We didn't see anything about that last issue. Like, seriously, the name Daemon Rose is absent for the entire thing. Not one mention. I…
If I'm being honest, there's not much to say this week. The latest issue of Justice League Dark isn't a slow one, per se - but I find myself a little less enthralled by it than I am by previous issues thus far. That's mainly because, despite the exciting action and beautiful visuals on display,…
