0 on Batman Beyond #39 reviewMuch to its benefit, Dan Jurgens’ Batman Beyond usually features a consistent art team on each arc. While not every artist featured in the series has been equal in talent, the consistency gives a steady identity to the series, at least in five to six issue chunks. However, in Batman Beyond #39, Inaki Miranda takes…
It’s the year 2019. With the rise of the internet and the publicity that it allows, it’s easier than ever for us to fight – and easier than ever to be manipulated. In a world where the public doesn’t trust journalists, journalists don’t trust their employers, and the rich control the technology we use every…
The new Batwoman takes center stage in Batman Beyond #38 as she tears across Gotham leaving Bruce and Matt McGinnis playing catch up. While the issue finally brings together some plot threads, writer Dan Jurgens finds himself wrapped up in a repetitive plot structure with readers being one step ahead of our lead characters once…
I've enjoyed Batwoman since the beginning, but a lot of the credit for that goes to Rachel Skarsten's Alice. Alice is a well-written character and Skarsten brings energy to her that makes her impossible to ignore. She's not the only good character, but she's easily the best. And so when an episode tones down Alice…
After last week's episode of Batwoman, I thought "oh, we're finally here. She's properly Batwoman, so it's time for some villain-of-the-week stuff. Batwoman continues to surprise, though. This week, we get another deep dive into how Alice became so twisted. Spoilers follow for Batwoman Season 1, Episode 5, "Mine is a Long and Sad Tale." "Mine is a Long and…
Dan Jurgens’ Batman Beyond is in a transitional state after the previous arc has left Terry with amnesia and has introduced a mystery newcomer who’s taking over the Batman mantle. Although the series is nearing forty issues, most of the run has succeeded primarily due to the likable and well defined ensemble cast Jurgens established.…
Into its third week, Batwoman has been on unsteady footing thus far. The show is trying to establish a bunch of characters and an unfamiliar version of a place we're very familiar with. It's a tough task. In week 3, the writers seem to have finished the groundwork and are finally ready to do some Caped Crusading.…
After a slow start last week, Batwoman is starting to get up to speed. In fact, I'm really impressed with how the plot is moving forward. Instead of switching right over to a villain of the week, Batwoman is continuing to explore... Batwoman (and Alice). Spoilers for episode 2 follow. "Down the Rabbit Hole" Last week,…
I'm not exactly the world's biggest Batwoman fan, but I can still appreciate a good visual adaptation of a character. And honestly, I don't know that there's been a better live-action visual adaptation of a comic book character than the CW's take on Batwoman, with the exception of the Christopher Reeve Superman. Diamond Select now…
Video courtesy of my site Comics Now I'm not the world's biggest Batwoman fan, but I enjoyed her well enough at the beginning of James Tynion's run on Detective Comics. DST's Batwoman Gallery PVC statue is an excellent take on the comic Batwoman, so if you're a fan, it's worth checking out. Watch the video above for my…
Batwoman made a big splash when she debuted on this fall's CW crossover, Elseworlds. In a Gotham without a Batman, Kate Kane stepped in to try to save the ailing city both with her wealth and the heel of her combat boots. CW ordered a pilot for Batwoman's potential series, and it looks like it's…
We're seven seasons into the Arrowverse, and I still have to pinch myself. That any of this is happening, that any of this is on network television as a prime-time event is still utterly beyond comprehension for me as a life-long DC and comic book fan. The second part of the Elseworlds crossover event took…
While Supergirl espouses a message of hope - even in this dark fourth season - Arrow and Flash have struggled with their darkness. Oliver growls, Barry hems and haws. The first of three parts of the Arrowverse's 2018 crossover, Elseworlds, debuted on Sunday night, and it threw all of that out the door. Prepare for…
We've had one official photo, and a couple of behind-the-scenes images, but now we finally have an official image of Ruby Rose in action. Entertainment Weekly published a new image of Batwoman in action on Wednesday. We have to say, as it stands right now, the costume is looking fantastic and we can't wait to…
As filming continues on the Elseworlds crossover for The CW Arrowverse shows, another image has landed online of Ruby Rose in the full Batwoman costume. Arrow director James Bamford shared the new image which gives us another look at the hair and faceplate. Following the last image that came online courtesy of Supergirl herself Melissa…
Video courtesy of Comics Now At first glance, you might say they’re ugly. But get to know them, let them into your heart, and they are beautiful. I’m talking, of course, about Diamond Select’s Vinimates. Featuring the distinctive aesthetic first brought to life in the popular Minimates line, these little Vinyl statues have captured the…
