Well… This is not what I was hoping for. I guess when life gives you lemons, make lemonade with Lady Shiva? The Story For nearly its entire run, I’ve praised Bryan Edward Hill’s Batman & the Outsiders. With Dexter Soy and some other artists, these creatives have managed to craft a strong story that continued…

Considering this is the second-to-last issue of Batman & the Outsiders, I expected things to move pretty quickly… But I didn’t expect them to move this fast! The Story Batman & the Outsiders #16 delivers what we’ve been waiting for since the very beginning: the final battle with Ra’s al Ghul. While the confrontation itself…

If I could have things my way, Batman & the Outsiders would not be ending because it’s too damn good. I mean, if this is Hill’s decision to move on or take a break (I’m praying it’s just a break), then I respect that… But seriously, when I talk about quality and execution in comics,…

We’ve got another issue of Batman & the Outsiders, and I can’t help but feel that Bryan Hill and Dexter Soy are still spinning their wheels a little bit… The Story You all know that I’ve been a champion for Batman & the Outsiders, and that’s not changing. However, between last month’s issue, and this…

Last month, Ra’s al Ghul leveled Lady Shiva’s childhood home using alien technology – technology that he threatened to use to harm the Outsiders should they try to interfere with his plans. Naturally, the Outsiders are going to join together to stop him, right? Right? Well, eventually, yeah… But for this issue, they’re going to…

Out of all of the titles that DC has chosen to release during this time period, I’m happy that Batman & the Outsiders is one of them! I’ve been singing this book’s praises for some time now, and I don’t feel as though it’s had the sales or support that it deserves. Hopefully, with little…

I keep hearing from people that work within the industry that DC Comics wants to create “classic” stories that can serve as evergreen trades that people continuously turn to (think Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: The Long Halloween, etc). Knowing that, I can’t help but want to hold up issues of Batman…

Maybe I haven’t been very clear in my past reviews, but I love this book and think it’s the best in-continuity title hitting stands for DC Comics! The Story After a slightly rocky start, Batman & the Outsiders has been one of the most consistent books in DC’s slate, and each issue builds on what…

I know I’m a broken record at this point, but Batman & the Outsiders just keeps getting better and better! The Story Last month, Batman & the Outsiders closed with Ra’s al Ghul calling a hit on Jefferson’s friend and employee, Tina. Because of that, I knew this issue would either come in guns-a-blazing as…

If anything is clear after reading Batman & the Outsiders #8, it’s that DC editorial definitely got in Bryan Hill’s way when the series launched. This book is becoming quite a phenomenal read! If you’re not checking it out monthly – or planning to read the trade when it’s released – then you’re missing out.…

I know I’ve said this before… but this is the best issue of Hill’s Batman & the Outsiders to date! The Story There’s no doubt that Batman & the Outsiders didn’t have the best start. The book’s debut was delayed a few months as Brian Hill and Dexter Soy were forced to incorporate the Year…

For the first Batman & the Outsiders Annual, Bryan Hill is teamed up with Max Raynor and Luis Guerrero as the team takes a side-step from the main plot, and pauses to focus on Katana. While the character focus is exactly where I, personally, want it to be, the story itself doesn’t really excite me.…

Cassandra and Duke take the spotlight for this issue of Batman & the Outsiders, and while I’m enjoying this book, I do feel as though it will be better consumed as a trade. The Story This is going to be an interesting book to discuss because I have a range of thoughts and emotions towards…

After three issues of saying they’re going to save Sofia, Batman and the Outsiders finally act on their promise! Better late than never, I guess. But, will their attempt be successful, or will this mission just be another instance of the team falling short of their goal? Find out below! (Psst… This is, by far,…

Batman and his Outsiders return for another chapter, but this is, unfortunately, starting to feel less and less like a team, action book, and more like a teenage melodrama… Heavy on the melodrama. The Story Ra’s al Ghul has kidnapped a metahuman named Sofia Ramos and is brainwashing and grooming her to be one of…

Bryan Hill proves two things here. First, when he’s on his game, he’s incredible. Second, the quality of his writing is better when he’s exploring character rather than pushing the plot. Regardless, there are some really nice moments here, and some that just felt a little… odd. The Story We’re only three issues into this…
