Batman '66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel (comic)
·
0 on Batman ’66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel Digital Issue #12 reviewBatman's latest crossover comes to a close with a chapter that is incredibly interesting, which is to both its detriment and benefit. From the beginning I've really enjoyed the snappy, whip-smart dialogue and unique visual style of this book. Unfortunately, the story began to wear out its welcome in recent weeks, spinning the narrative wheels…
The penultimate chapter is here, chums, and our heroes have found themselves in yet another quandary. Faced with hordes of Cybernauts, Batman, Robin, Steed and Peel must work together to stop Michaela Gough's rampage. It's difficult to judge this installment on its own merits, because it's all build-up for the final chapter. Gone are the…
There's nothing wrong with this installment. It's tonally consistent with the rest of the series, the writing and illustrations are as good as you'd expect, and it feels like Batman '66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel should. There isn't much to dislike here. In fact, there isn't much here period. This is the briefest, breeziest…
Let's get this out of the way: there is no dancing here, and therefore, no Batusi. Perhaps next week, but as it stands, that cover makes a promise and doesn't deliver. Yet. There are deathtraps galore, though, as Batman '66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel approaches the home stretch. With all the players on the…
The Dynamic Duo and those altruistic Avengers Steed and Peel finally head across the pond to London in pursuit of Ms. Gough, Lord Ffogg and Mr. Freeze in the eighth installment of Batman '66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel. Will our heroes uncover the villains' nefarious plot? Can they keep the White Star Diamond safe?…
If you haven't been reading Batman '66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel, do yourself a favor and catch up. The eighth chapter releases Monday, September 19th, so you have plenty of time, and it's been great fun so far. Plus, each installment is just a buck, and you can't beat that. A large part of the series'…
There's an awful lot this series has been doing right: the dialogue is fantastic, the characterizations are spot-on, and the distinct visuals give it a unique look. The plot may be moving along at a bit of a deliberate pace, but it's still intriguing and loads of fun. For that, Edginton, Smith and team must…
Ok, first things first, if you haven't already go ahead and watch this, like, fifteen times so we can share in excitement. No rush. I'll wait. While it's unfortunate that we have to wait over two long, grueling months to see West, Ward, and Newmar back in action, thankfully we have this comic to get…
The Batcave is under attack by Cybernauts! That is the extent of what happens this issue. In fact, that is pretty much all that happens this issue, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a great time. The last installment was fine, though a bit lackluster. It was more of the same that…
Four weeks in and pieces are still falling into place, with more connections between the titular crimefighters being revealed while their true for remains hidden. Up to this point I've been enjoying this crossover, and while it's still quite enjoyable, this installment feels like filler. The reason for that may very well be that it's a…
That felonious feline Catwoman is in the clutches of the Cybermen* Cybernauts. Can the Dynamic Duo rescue her in time? Will agents Steed and Peel instead free the femme fatale? Does Chief O'Hara make a hasty judgement? Will we see which rogue is behind the sudden onslaught of rigidly robust robot men? The answers to these…
As much as I enjoyed the previous Batman '66 crossover, I never got the feeling that Solo, Kuryakin, and U.N.C.L.E. were actually a part of that world. There was some fun chemistry between the Dynamic Duo and the agents, and Hugo Strange's involvement with T.H.R.U.S.H. was fairly clever, but besides a throwaway line here or…
There are some properties that transcend time. Batman, naturally, is one of those. From his introduction over 75 years ago, the Caped Crusader has evolved over time to become one of the linchpins of pop culture and, dare I say, one of the most enduring literary creations of the past century. Even when the story…
