18 on DC Power 2025: Rise Of The Power Company #1 reviewDC Power returns to celebrate yet another compilation of black led stories. Last year, creatives like Brandon Thomas, Khary Randolph, and N.K Jimisin brought their unique voices to the underrepresented pantheon of black characters. Directly following Absolute Power, this year's edition sets up the return of The Power Company. Outside of functioning as a backdoor…
Absolute Power: Origins concludes with this third issue, and I haven’t been too hot on the series so far. Amanda Waller’s motivations behind the Absolute Power event have been confusing and a little convoluted, but does the third issue bring it home and paint a clear picture of why Waller is who she is? Let’s…
In the first issue of Absolute Power: Origins, Amanda Waller’s motivations were revealed. To be honest, those motivations didn’t make sense and the issue fell flat. But now that we know how she established her ties with the government; with the second issue, we find out how she created the infamous Task Force X a.k.a.…
Amanda Waller's plan to stop all of the world's metahumans hinges on her adaptable team of Amazo androids. However, as each of them absorb the powers of the Justice League, they begin to develop fatal flaws. Namely, Task Force VII #5 covers the somewhat sad state of the Flash powered "Velocity." Let's get up to…
If Amanda Waller was counting on her overpowered robots to win the day, she may have another thing coming. Following the so-called blitzkrieg in Absolute Power #1, Waller's Amazos continue to hunt down the world's metahumans. Like the others, Jadestone seeks to capture the members of the Justice Society of America. Unfortunately, once Jadestone gets…
DC’s Absolute Power crossover event has kicked off and with Origins, this three-issue miniseries goes over the backstory of the event’s linchpin and main antagonist: Amanda Waller. Waller is on a warpath against heroes and vigilantes, and this series is suppose to explain her motivations. Does the first issue give a clear picture on why…
Welcome back to the revolution! Last issue, Amanda Waller sent out her army of Amazo androids to hunt down the world's heroes. Sadly, the villains are able to capture their quarries uncontested for the most part. Now, we join the Doom Patrol and the Aquaman family as they band together to defend Atlantis. Let's take…
Unfortunately, the word is out. Thanks to Failsafe, Braniac Queen, and her army of Amazos, Amanda Waller has won. Unexpectedly, every metahuman on earth must hide from Waller's power stealing A.I. she affectionately refers to as Task Force VII. Subsequently, this series follows that hunt for the remaining heroes and metas hoping to turn the…
Dreamer has been captured by Task Force X, and they are on their way to deliver her to Amanda Waller, as she has plans for the dream-walking heroine. Will the Squad see that they are on the wrong side of this fight and back up Dreamer? Or is there nothing stopping Amanda Waller from achieving…
In preparation for the final issue of Kill Arkham Asylum, I got familiar with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. With one final member of the team left to go, let's take a look at how the stories intersect. This time, we saddle up with Nanue, The King Shark! A Small Pond Although King Shark…
Dreamer has gone AWOL, and the reorganized Task Force X has a new objective: capture her alive by any means necessary and bring her back to Waller. Waller obviously has ulterior motives that could threaten the future of the whole planet. But in her mind, she is doing the right thing. This penultimate issue of…
The new Squad has been assembled and tasked with infiltrating the island nation of Gamorra to stop some insurgents from taking over the island’s weapons and defense systems. But not all is what it seems as Amanda Waller obviously has an ulterior motive, and Nia Nal, a.k.a. Dreamer, is caught in Waller’s warpath. Does the…
The "Harley Show" has begun! The official tie-in to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League continues with Harley Quinn's wacky escape from Arkham Asylum. Unsurprisingly, as a staple recurring character in the Arkhamverse games and comics, Harley Quinn makes herself at home regardless. Lets take a look! Where's Waldo When expectations are low, it's easy…
Nobody asked for this, but Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum continues its prequel storyline. In this issue, an unexpected prison break causes Arkham's prisoners to take revenge on the Arkham guards. Now, Deadshot needs to team up with the other deadliest assassin in the asylum to make his escape. Lets talk about it! A Sadist…
We've made it to the end! Like any uncomfortably long and rough road trip, all I want to do is get out and kiss the ground. Before Tom Taylor's Beast World ends, the heroes must figure out how to stop Dr. Hate and Amanda Waller's plans. Show Your Work I don't know when or how,…
As usual, DC promises that every event will be "a game changer," and that the universe "won't be the same." To this end, Beast World features violent mass murder and trauma throughout that world. Most importantly, our optimistic changeling, Beast Boy, is now dead. Before the DC Universe can mourn the lost hero, they must…
Tom Taylor continues to guide the Titans through their first and possibly last time leading a crisis. As the tension and collateral rises, Amanda Waller pulls the trigger at just the right time to undermine the heroes. Let's take a look! Pain, Confusion, Fear, and Loss Where the heroes have begun to run out of…
After Beast Boy's transformation, the entire DC Universe reels in shock of a worldwide shapeshifter epidemic. Horrifyingly, every nation of the world must contend with violent beast attacks. Pretty soon the Titans, Justice League, and all other metahumans become targets of the power hungry parasitic horde. If anything, I feel bad for Beast Boy. Let's…
At long last! The final chapter of Dark Knights Of Steel comes to a striking end. For twelve harrowing issues, the three kingdoms of the realm have gone to war because of a long standing lie. With Protex's evil influence out in the open, the kingdoms have finally turned their war in the right direction.…
During this week's Anime Expo 2023, Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio unveil their new Suicide Squad based anime series called Suicide Squad Isekai. The story follows Batman foes Harley Quinn, The Joker, and other DC villains as they find themselves in a "violent fantasy world." Of course, the word "Isekai" itself refers to the…
