Thanks to a recently resurfaced Zack Snyder interview, a debate has broken out across the internet about what makes a good Superman film. Snyder said that with Man of Steel he made the movie he wanted to see. As a filmmaker that is very much his right, but it also means that there is another segment of the audience that wanted to see something else.
And that's where the debate comes from.
Users are taking to Twitter now and debating the Christopher Reeves films vs. Man of Steel and everything inbetween.
I've long held an opinion that no matter how much you may dislike a film, there is at least one person out there who adores it. Film, at its core, is an art form, and, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just because you don't like a certain take on Superman, or any character for that matter, doesn't make that version any less valid. Nor does it make your version superior. It's the one you like, and you have your reasons.
As someone who grew up with one comic book movie a year if we were lucky, I personally just enjoy that we live in a time where I can look at a release schedule and wonder if I can make it out to see all of them.
