Everyone except for Ben Affleck will be at ACE Comic-Con in Long Island, New York this weekend to promote Justice League. Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and even Ciarán Hinds, who voiced Steppenwolf, are scheduled to attend.

The cast will be signing autographs and taking photos with fans, but they won't be cheap. Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill are each charging $175 for an autograph. Want to take a photo too? That's another $175. If you're on a budget, you can just hang out with Cyborg. Ray Fisher is only charging $50 for an autograph and $65 for a photo.

I've been told these prices are pretty typical for big stars at conventions, but I still think it's ridiculous that Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill have agreed to charge fans $350 for an autograph and photo. Do you share my displeasure or do you feel differently? Let me know in the comments below.

    It's not like any of them actually want to thake money from fans personal gain.It is how the event works.It how it always worked.Obviously all of the stars have prooven that they are more then willing to give out free photos and autographs.Just this past month Henry spent most of the premiera with the fans instead of the press.

      Big difference. At the premiere there promoting their work they're required to be there. Also at a premiere you're not guaranteed to get an autograph for a photo op it's luck of the draw. At a convention they're giving up a weekend to sign autographs people are guaranteed an autograph. That is what you're paying for. And generally stars and their agents set the prices at these shows.

    Even if it was the con, the actors would be able to negotiate that price. By showing up, Gadot and Cavill agree with the pricing that is in place.

          see Knight Falcon's reply. This is nothing new - conventions pay a celebrity to attend, and the convention charges fans a fee to take a photo with celebrity. Will you be publishing an article on photo fees for every convention from now on?

            ^^this. Kevin Conroy years ago used to not charge a dime for autographs- I waited in a line for 6 hours since he had never been in the area.
            The next year he was charging $30 and it was a 5 minute wait.

            Even with Hamill’s outrageous $250 charge, there was an insane line. I can’t image what that would be if the price were reasonable.

            I have always heard Kevin Conroy is a super awesome guy. This helps confirm that. He has always seemed very gracious to have been cast to voice Batman.

            I mean.. he has made a career out of it, but he had to be great in order to stay on for this long. His Batman/Bruce Wayne is the greatest in animation and it’s so hard for anyone to come close.

            It doesn't matter who sets the prices. By attending, Gadot and Cavill agree that charging fans $350 is acceptable.

            Could they be contractually bound to show up to promote the movie? I agree the price is ridiculous but also, no one is holding a gun to the heads of people willing to pay.

            This is the first time it's happened in my 7 years of covering DC movies. And with Ben Affleck not being there I don't think it's a contractual thing.

            I have zero issue with fans who want to spend the movie, it's the actors who I disagree with.

            Because you're not required to buy the picture to attend. You're required to pay the Ticketmaster fee to attend because they're the only ones selling tickets.

            I don't follow the con scene at all. And I don't think Gadot and Cavill should get a pass just because "everyone is doing it". But again, this isn't a "hit piece" like some have accused me of. It's literally 4 paragraphs of facts and 1 sentence of an opinion at the very end.

            Hamill charged at Fan Expo 250 for a graph and I believe 150 for a group photo op...which means you and 9 other strangers take a photo with him. All at 150 a pop. You get a photo with him and 9 strangers. This is what it is now...but in the case of Cavill and Gadot is they sign at premieres and other places free. Your paying for the min or two that you see them one on one. Ive been to 14 con's in the past 2 years. I've seen alot like that

            It's not like fans are being forced to pay them $350. Can't afford it, skip it. People can live without an autograph and photo. We're not entitled to their time.

            You realize that them attending gives fans the chance to see them in person or hear them speak about their moves or future comic films. They aren't just there to sign autographs, in fact, that is probably the one thing that is contractually obligated of them. You can also incidentally bump into them walking the floors and get a photo for free. Let's just not have celebrities attend conventions anymore. Then no autographs or anything. So fun.

            in the past, you have always said you dont give your opinion and try to be unbias and just report the news on DC things. but i think you are breaking your own rule here. the actors dont give a shit about this money. they a multi millionaires. the fees are set by acecon as a way to control crowds. gadot and cavill are the 2 biggest stars attending so the fees are bigger for them as the crowds would be bigger. as other people have said if people cant afford it then skip it and get a free autograph of them somewhere else.

            I'm more shocked with the structural injustice of our economy and the disparities in salaries. Some people barely have a salary to survive and some receive little fortunes. Sometimes that happens in the same company or institution.

            In this case, people can live well without a photo or autograph. People will only pay if they think it worths their money. It is like a piece of art. IT worths millions if people are willing to pay that price.

            Besides, there are many people making business with those things. A guy tried to sell an autograph of a famous band to a friend of mine asking a very high price. I asked him if he had bought that autograph and he said no. I said to my friend to send him to take a walk.

            Artists give many autographs and take many photos for free. If people want a photo or autographs for free go to places where they can eventually get one.

            This is income...actors can make like 100k a year just going to conventions. For lower level actors that is needed money, and it's work as you have to fly wherever and spend entire weekends meeting people which can be very draining. I agree 350 is a lot...but if people are dumb enough to pay it, and the lines are out the door.. it's the only logical thing to do. If people were willing to pay 10,000 and the lines were still long they would charge 10,000. It comes down to gullible people willing to spend money to meet "famous" people. For some actors though it's a key and sometimes only source of main income if their careers gave dried up. And someday when Cavill is a has been...he will be glad to get 25 bucks an autograph. Either way this doesn't happen if people aren't stupid enough to do it. They are ultra famous right now so they will charge a lot, later on...it won't be as much. Botyom line....Supply and demand.( and some stupidity maybe.)

            the bigger ones can make like 500k on one single show actually i read. i hear all these actors nowadays would kill to be on a genre show cause they can do cons then and a lot of them admit they can make way more at cons for way less work.
            hell star wars and star trek old timers and extras and bit actors and so on literally live off cons.

            This isn't a simple solution. Unfortunately the economics of hollywood goes far beyond the stars. As several commenters pointed out the tix for autographs and photos doesn't go all to the celebrities, some of whom are mandated to go to them as part of their contracts to starring in the film.

            This con is not SDCC and this con clearly worked out some deal to get 5/6 cast members of the Justice League to headline their show. Again, they either go to the con and get paid, or they don't and fans don't see them. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

      Generally from what I understand, the convention is charged an appearance price, and the con can add on however much they want to the autograph/op price to offset that price. At least that’s how it works for FanExpo.
      Mark Hamill was like $250 each, which is why I decided to not meet him.

            It's $175 for an autograph or a photo, not that crazy, and they could charge triple that and be within their rights to do so.

            It's also not set by them and it's silly to say they are directly supporting it by just showing up to the con.

            As others have pointed out, there are much more egregious examples with other stars, and this does seem to be misrepresenting them in a bad light .

          I always see you in the comments trying to say you aren’t biased or on a certain side. However, when you are constantly blasting one side for things like this and never looking into what the other side has done in the past with the exact same thing then you look like you are just wanting the clicks and wanting to either get fans all riled up or you just think everything Marvel does is pure and great, but if DC does anything similar THERE MUST BE A VERY FECIOUS REASON BEHIND IT!!!!

          You do know actors get paid millions by studios to star in their movies right? So, when they go to comic-con in San Diego that is part of their contracts to be there. If they do something outside of their contract they need to make a little bit of money for their time.

          You make it sound like you would be willing to run this website for free on certain days. Maybe that is what you should do Chris. Run the website for free on certain days so we all know you aren’t just a money grubbing dick. Quit being a hypocrite and quit being jealous if you are just mad your advertisers don’t pay you that much.

          The reason I say you need to compare both sides when it comes to stories like this then people would have said “oh well then this isn’t really a big deal.” But see... you can’t have people on the website thinking that about the article. You need SHOCK VALUE.

          Back to my point about comparing. You want to compare Marvel and DC when it comes to movies, comic books, video games, etc. So, why not be fair and show both sides when it would actually show that DC and the actors who are in their movies aren’t some people who just want “Money, Money, Money”. If you had done some research and found out about Chris Evans and Stan Lee charging an extra $150 per dual photo than Henry and Gal did then put it in your article people could see that your argument of it being an insane amount is BS and that they are actually charging a lower amount than other stars.

          You even said yourself in one of the comments above I read ....

          “I don’t know how these con things work.”

          Then how about not reporting on them at all or doing some research first. You run a website that a lot of other websites try to pull from. So, when you do articles like this it gets rumors floating around and just adds to the fanboys list of the amount of them that don’t know shit other than what you post.

          I enjoyed your work in the past and maybe know since you are making more money because of advertisements it’s become more of a job than a passion and you have to come up with clickbait material to keep readers.

          Just try to be a little more sincere and honest if you are ALWAYS going to compare Marvel and DC. If you didn’t do that a lot I probably wouldn’t even be saying anything about this article and replying to your comments.

      Josh is correct, and this article is VERY unfair. There are often BOOKING FEES involved that the Con will pay the talent to be at their event. Because Gal and Henry's fees to show up to the con are likely higher than the rest of the cast, that is why the CON is charging that much for the meet and greets. It is also a form of crowd control, AND you don't know where all that money is going. I am sure Gal and Henry are far removed from that direct-to-fan process, if they are aware of it at all.

          The headline and tone of the article is incredibly unfair, misleading, and ignorant to how things actually run in Hollywood. It’s essentially a bash piece on the actors based on having NO experience with these kinds of talent relations and how much they are directly involved with things like this. I live and work in LA and have many colleagues in PR, agencies, and management.... and this kind of reporting is downright irresponsible. Your website has always been such a fair and credible source for Batman related news. Really disappointed in you on this one Chris.

            It is NOT 99% fact. You base everything here off your assumptions and not the reality of how involved the talent is with something like this. This kind of reporting is clearly out of line and you obviously have no idea how these events handle talent fees vs. pricing for meet and greets. Go after the CON, not the talent. Sad that a usually credible website has stooped to something so ignorant and petty. Gal and Henry deserve better and more informed treatment from their fans.

      Yeah, I was super ready to go to this when it was announced until I saw the prices. And these are on top of the ticket price for the days they are there. I'd LOVE to get Cavill to sign my DC Collectibles Superman figure but to do so it'd cost $225 before tolls and gas. I completely balked. No way I'm dropping that. Though admittedly Mark Hamill was $300 for a signature and another $300 for a photo at NYCC, so it could be worse.

      What is your problem with DCEU? We can see negativity all the time in this site. There's no Nolan's universe, deal with it and support DC or stop posting about that if it's not about Batman.       As s fan who btw never attended an event, I would totally be alright with those prices and I'm on a budget.
      When you consider the fact that this is a fans dream, the nostalgia, the possible long term value, yes it's worth it.

      This is not an unreasonable price. The Hemsworth/Hiddleston photo op + autograph at Philly a couple years ago was $1400. If you wanted Evans in the pic, I think it was $2,000. And the lines were insane. It's supply & demand, and the rarity of the autograph.

        I had to pay $35 for a 5 mins chat with Cisco from CW The Flash. Awesome experience and the guy is pretty down to earth. The price is setup by the con (no pun intended)

        they are easily bigger stars than the other members sans affleck. and no one is putting a gun to the heads of these fans to do so. if you happen to meet gadot or cavill on the street they would be more than happy to give an autograph and take a photo. Hell you could probably find cavill at a comic book store half the time lol...but signing autographs hundreds of times takes a toll. so at these big events where there are thousands of people that has to be a filter. you don’t like the price? don’t pay it. personally I would certainly pay 150 bucks to have an autograph and pic of superman... because to some people a memory is worth a lot more than the money you pay for it. and seriously 150 bucks is a bargain compared to what rock stars charge for a meet and greet... want to meet Motley Crue or Ozzy? prepare to shell out 1200 bucks. 150 doesn’t sound like a lot anymore does it? how is that for perspective?

      While these cons can be seen as cash grabs, I don't think anyone is evil here. The con either has to pay for the actors' flights and hotel accommodations and those are first class (a four-star hotel at least) or they pay the actors a large sum to show up. They have to rent the space too. The actors aren't going to do this without being paid first or out of the kindness of their hearts just to meet fans. No actor would do this. Even Fisher who is awesome.

      Also, Chris should know that there are multiple reasons why actors do these cons:

      1. Obviously money. It's not that much though. If a hundred people buy the dual package of $350.00 for Gal and Henry. That's $35,000. How much goes to the con and how much to the actors? Depends if they were already paid and what the deal is? 50/50? That's chump change to Cavill. The actors have to fly out to Long Island. They have to smile for a hundred photos and sign a hundred autographs at least. None of these actors live there as far as I know. Ever smiled for a hundred photos at a wedding or party? It's painful.

      2. Self-promotion: They're actors. They could sit at home and let the work speak for itself or do things like this and be awesome in front of their fans. Then the fans love them and go watch their films. Same thing as having a twitter or instagram.

      3. THE FANS

      4. This doesn't apply to Henry or Gal but it does to the Undertaker. It's the boredom factor. I'm pretty sure that Taker isn't desperate for money. He probably is bored and wants to meet his fans....

            That might be true, but are we going to say they are valuing themselves? So Cirian and Ray feel like they’re worth that much less than Henry and Gal? They must’ve agreed to the pricing right? It just doesn’t make sense. I’m sure there’s tons more to how this all works, but moral of the story is that they aren’t the ones setting the prices even if they agree to them.

    Yea I actually went to the Indianapolis comic con and momoa was there it was like right after he was cast as aquaman and it was like 250 for an autograph and picture or something n I got there right when he was leaving so i walked up beside him n which that mfer really is a decent sized boy and I was like man u care If I get a pic or anything and he gave me the death look like mfer get away from me or I'm gonna remove your head from your body lol so I jus let him go on..

    I think the people who get autographs and sell them on Ebay, mess it up for the true fans that just want a autograph. Regardless its ridiculous. The actors could say something If I was in that position I would. Just try to distinguish who's cool and who's trying to get over.

      "It's a recession. I'm broke", one admits as he shamelessly asks for two autographs.
      "Both to Patrick", the other one says as he asks for two autographs on two separate pictures.

      At the end, even Cavill got fed up with "Patrick" and told him off for bugging him for another autograph after he told him "this is the last one."

      I still think those con prices are pretty outrageous, but I can also see how actors dislike being taken advantage of and thus charge for their photos and autographs if they're aware that their fans are merely doing it to sell them online for a quick buck and will likely think twice about it if their return income is less than the price they payed to actually get it done.

    It's interesting that, for the lower tier of stars, the person who really started booking them for cons for paid autographs was Erin Gray, Wilma Deering of Buck Rogers. I still have a thing for women in white pants and I think it's her fault.

    I'm sorry, but the ONLY person that I'd pay that kind of cash to get an autograph from would be from Stan Lee and even then it would be under protest. I balked years ago when Stallone was charging that kind of money for a meet and greet at NYCC. I'm not going to do it for these "nobodies." Not happening.

      I don't pay attention to what Marvel actors do. But I did update my article to say "I’ve been told these prices are pretty typical for big stars at conventions, but I still think it’s ridiculous that Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill have agreed to charge fans $350 for an autograph and photo."
