Zack Snyder's son criticizes Warner Bros. for "meddling" with 'Justice League'

More and more people are starting to come out about Zack Snyder's original cut of Justice League. Cinematographer Fabian Wagner has shown his support, and a fan petition has now crossed 100,000 signatures. The latest person to comment publicly is Snyder's own son, Jett. He wasn't a fan of Warner Bros. interfering with his dad's movie, or the forced humor.

"On a more serious note I did enjoy the movie, although it is clearly not what it could have been due to the meddling of Warner Brothers and the forced comedy," Jett wrote on Vero. "The run time was my biggest gripe with the movie, with events that should take a long time over in a flash; $ but still definitely a fun movie to watch, and would recommend it."

Perhaps more interesting than the post itself is the fact that it was "liked" by Justice League director Zack Snyder, executive producer Wesley Coller, and set photographer Clay Enos.

Warner Bros. rejected Snyder's original cut of Justice League and hired Joss Whedon to rewrite the script for reshoots this past summer. They have yet to comment on the popular petition to release Snyder's cut on Blu-ray.

Crazy. Just checked. The petition is at 103,000+ signatures now. That means there are 100k+ people who are willing to buy an extended cut. Money talks guys. Now they're paying attention.

  Well nobody actually wants an "extended cut". We want Zack's cut and Junkie XL's music. We don't want more of that Whedon/Elfman trash we got. I think I would not only cry because my characters and their stories have been destroyed but would also throw up. We need Zack's original cut BvS is called extended only because WB wanted Zack to chop it down to 2:30h. Otherwise we would just call it BvS. Love and spread the word about the petition

    Yeah WB are going to spend millions on doing effects and re-hiring a mediocre music composer to please a bunch of whiny fanboys. This extended cut what the petition is for won't get you much you know, at most WB will add some deleted scenes back in and maybe if you're lucky some extended action scenes.

      Effects are mostly done. The composer is great and he also has most of the score finished. It's not some whiny fanboys stop assaulting ad hominem. Many people love these movies and you haters should start to learn to respect them.

        Actually a VFX guy done a interview on Reddit and has said that no effects aren't mostly done and that 100% there's no "Snyder Cut" at all.   100k signatures isn't 100k people, you can sign multiple times with multiple emails & nowadays everyone has multiple emails(also you can make new one very fast). With these die-hard Snyder fans, I bet they have signed 100 time each one of them.
  General audience don't have time for these things, they have life,work & child so they have a lot of matters to attend to & maybe they don't even know who the director is & how he think.
  It is only small minority among fans who have time & care for these things like a new cut would do a miracle & change everything( like a weak ass villain or doll move like killing superman & etc...).

    I wasn't even entirely comfortable with him directing MOS as his movie immediately before MOS was Sucker Punch. I absolutely hated that movie. I didn't even like 300 as that movie was all style no substance, not the kind of movie I prefer. But as I liked Watchmen I thought to myself that may be he will bring his A game with MOS. However, after MOS, I definitely wanted him gone as the movie didn't turn out very good. But Warner Bros couldn't see that some of us were seeing back in 2013 and gave Snyder all the power. As a result, we now have a DCEU which in danger of collapsing.

        Both pretty bad though. Ant-Man was alright for one viewing and very meh on the second, same as Suicide Squad. Iron Man 1 and Cap 2 are the only actually good movies from Marvel, all others are very shallow and don't hold up too well on repeated viewings. They're great if you like your saturday morning cartoons though, I guess.

      Snyder and Nolan's vision on these characters is surprisingly close. Nolan just does tighter stories that are more grounded, while Snyder is more into the visual and likes a dose of fantasy added.

        Umm asshole i work at a Cinema and a Film/Music store, i speak to movie and comic book fans every fucking day and the majority of them don't even know who Snyder is or care for BvS. As for making 2 billion well yeah if you combine numbers but on their own its really under-whelming really, only WW and SS done what could be considered really great success.

If it weren't for the properties Zack was given the opportunity to work with, he'd be nothing. Whedon can make up an entire film by himself (direct, produce, write) and we know he can deliver.         I don't have the time. I'm sorry. I thought I had, but the work just keeps piling up. It's going to be like that for another 2 months. Then I could probably take my time to respond. However, I doubt that you would care at that point.
        I can make short replies, no problem. But I can't make lengthy replies that would make up at least 10 pages worth of text. That takes hours. I simply cannot afford to do that at this point in time.         I don't know and neither do you. We don't know if either directors' films will still be talked about after fifty years. But I sure as hell ain't gonna act like I know. There are plethora of films that were bashed and labeled as trash, but decades later we still talk about them. If you had told Siskel and Ebert that Friday the 13th would be talked about fondly 20 years, they would grieve over how "society has fallen".
        Yeah I like JL, but I don't feel that the film is misunderstood as BvS is. It's clear from the get-go that the film is a gobbled up mess.         In fairness to Friday The 13th that was a massive success what played a major part in making the slasher horror genre a big thing in the 80's so even its surprise its still held up and talked about. I may not be able to see the future but i'm a massive film fan who follows film history as well as watching them so i do have a clue on how this stuff works, i may sound arrogant but i'm pretty certain in 10-20 years that no one will remember or give a toss about BvS or any of Snyder films. This isn't The Shining what got a very mixed response on release and got Razzies nominations only for then to get looked at far more fondly on retrospect because that had Kubrick behind it and i think its fair to say Snyder is no where near Kubrick levels.
        I do agree that yes WB helped screw up both BvS and JL but even with BvS UC what is what Snyder intended its still a heavily flawed film, as i've said before all the UC done was the make the story better and help it flow better and explain scenes and give them more context, its a better film sure but i still feel its a bad film and that's on Snyder.

        Exactly. I never watched Buffy, but I know it exists and I'm aware of its impact. Whedon can make films all by himself. He doesn't need widely successful graphic novels like 300 or Watchmen to make decent films. Snyder can't do shit without the source material which frankly, far exceeds his movies in terms of quality. I am just so tired of people praising Snyder as if he's one of the most renowned and artistic directors of all time. His movies are dumb, mindless fun at best. He is the epitome of pseudo-intellectualism, evidenced by his highly pretentious take on movies. Whedon doesn't lie to himself and pretend he's making highly intelligent films, but he CAN write intelligent or witty dialogue. He CAN write good, and smart characters. Snyder thinks by simply shoving religious iconography down our throats with meaningless verses from the Bible that he's being "incredibly smart". He does this, at the expense of good story-telling, good plot-construction, good characters, good motivations. He's so busy filling these films with completely meaningless allegories, that he forgets to make a decent film in the process.         I'm a Snyder fan, but I don't hate Whedon; I just don't think he did a good job here. Not only because of what he took from Snyder's vision (which was partly WB's goal, not just his), but also for some clumsy, cringey choices he did intentionally deliver.
        I don't pretend to know how much of that was really something he could help, but I do know that his writing choices were totally out of touch with this universe, and some of them were flat-out poor ideas to me regardless of the tone of the universe. It simply wasn't the good kind of camp, and it didn't work.
        I'm still hopeful that he'll knock it out of the park with Batgirl, because I know he's talented enough and has the right mindset for that title, but I now fear that his view of Batman is closer to Joel Schumacher's than Zack or Scott Snyder's, Christopher Nolan's, Frank Miller's, or mine. So I've gone from "excited as hell" to "nervous but hopeful" about Batgirl. Sad times. :(
        All this is just to illustrate that the uproar over the movie isn't totally black and white. It's not all "Hail Snyder" versus "Burn Whedon". For some, it's this mixed up grey area where we're just frustrated and disillusioned.

        I've been nitpicking the movie a lot, but there are tons of moments that I think are amazing, and some of those are among my favorite moments in DC history so far. :)

        All of those moments were awesome. I am a very quiet person at the movie theater - I almost never make audible reactions unless the rest of the theater is already clapping (I got to go to an early, free screening of BvS in IMAX and everyone was cheering and laughing and clapping; best movie experience I've ever had!).
        When we see Superman's eye look over his shoulder in the Speed Force at Flash? I couldn't help a big "OHH!" and I slammed down into my seat. hahaha :D That's how you know it was a favorite moment.
        Whaaaat! I loved Barry geeking out at the signal. He's like their cute little brother there, and they seem to find him charming even if they play it off like they're the grown-ups. I'm a fan of the chemistry between the three of them. :) lol
        My favorite moments are definitely things like the material with Batman reflecting deeply on Superman that you mentioned. I wanted more of that. You could tell that sort of thing was the focus Zack wanted this movie to have.
        Another big highlight for me was where Bruce is wincing in private, badly bruised, and Diana goes to help him fix his shoulder. She is silently recognizing his mortality, and thus his bravery and conviction to doing what's right, even if his body can't take it like hers can.
        More than that, it was also a revelation the real intention behind Bruce antagonizing her earlier. That was a classic Batman moment, where he is willing to make himself look like an asshole (in Cyborg's words) for the greater good of the team, even if secretly he's a teddy bear. We usually only find out he was actually being a good guy behind the scenes later, and I love that it created a sort of intimate, respect-filled moment between him and Diana. :) The apology from him feels so genuine and wise.
        This staple of Batman's role in the JL is also in solo Batman stories, like the way he takes the fall for Harvey in The Dark Knight. Beautiful, and a big part of why Batman is my favorite character.
        Out of fear that my comment will be cut short again, I'll throw out a couple of quickies (but there are more!):
        Every moment of J.K. Simmons at Gordon made me very happy. I believed he was Jim.
        While I wanted more of it and I'm pissed it got cut down so much, Cyborg's inner struggle and relationship with his father was handled very well for what we got, and I found it to be one of the most interesting and well-acted parts of the film. Ray Fisher is the man.
        "I'm like a Black Hole of snacks. I'm a Snack Hole." was amazing, and an example of cheese done right. I bet anything that was Ezra doing a little geeky improv. lol
        Lois' monologue at the end of the film. Pure poetry. I saw someone spliced in Zimmer's Man of Steel theme over the scene and almost cried. Look that up and watch it. :)

        I wanted to add one that I think I forgot. It's called Superman: Peace on Earth, written by Paul Dini from Batman TAS, with art by the legendary Alex Ross. :)

        It was very influential for Zack Snyder's Superman, and, as you asked before, so was Birthright, as well as a novel (not a comic book) that I believe was just called Krypton. All worth a look.

        You can find Superman: Peace on Earth collected in a bigger book with other similar one-shot stories. It's called "The World's Greatest Super-Heroes". :) It's hard to find for a reasonable price these days (best chance is on eBay; tends to be expensive on Amazon), but I'm hoping they'll do a new print run soon as it's been a while, and they're very iconic stories that are great entry points for new readers looking to get into DC.
        There are several themes and moments literally lifted off the pages into BvS, and I think they did a beautiful job. Anyone who says that the DCEU Superman isn't true to the comics needs to read the big ones like Peace on Earth and Birthright.
        I love The Long Halloween, and it was going to be high on the list of recommendations for you. That was another book that was heavily influential on the movies - The Dark Knight in this case. :)
        The Button just arrived in the mail, and it's got this cool holographic cover with Batman and the Flash. I'm excited to finally finish reading it. If you don't know about it, and if you like Thawne as a villain, check it out for an intense interaction between him and Batman... The way Jason Fabok draws him reminds me of how Wells-Thawne (Tom Cavanagh) looked as Reverse Flash in the show! There's an intelligence and a sadistic darkness in his smile.
        Since you said you like the more detectivey stuff, there's a sequel to The Long Halloween called "Dark Victory", and the side story collection "Haunted Knight" by the same writer and artist is a good read too, with some nice introspective moments that give you a peek into Bruce's heart and mind. I've been meaning to check out "Catwoman: When in Rome" by them too (for years), but I've been distracted. Let me know how you like that one if you beat me to it. :)
        Between "Dark Victory" and "Robin: Year One", you have a great, heartfelt jumping-on point for the Dick Grayson version of Robin too, if you're interested in that.
        Other good detectivey ones are "Court of Owls" and "City of Owls" by Scott Snyder, and if you can get past the whole Face-Off Joker gimmick, "Death of the Family" and "Endgame" are very good detective thrillers too, although Endgame has a scene of Batman fending off a crazed Justice League (not with ease, though; spoiler: Diana kicks his ass at one point, and he's mostly subduing them and running away, not beating them in a straight fight). I know you're not into that, but it's worth checking out the full book for the bigger story. :)
        Detective stories I recently read were "Batman: Houdini" and "Gotham by Gaslight" (which they're making an animated movie of now, but the art is nothing like the book, which was very striking and atmospheric). I liked those too. Strong vibe of mystery and shadow to both.
        Next up in the detective style for me is "The Black Mirror", which I've owned for years because someone recommended it to me, but only peeked through a few pages of. Another near-future read will be "Heart of Hush", which is also written by Paul Dini (who is obviously a favorite of mine).
        A lot of people will suggest "Hush" as a good detective story. I do think it's good, and I enjoyed reading it, but I think people over-hyped me, so don't fall into the over-hyped state of mind like I did, and you'll like it. haha
        That one would make a great movie - especially if they cast Matt Damon as Hush opposite Ben Affleck's Batman. There's a very iconic scene between Batman and Catwoman that I would consider getting framed on my wall. :)
        That's it for now, but I have tons more Batman books, and some great stories that aren't necessarily detective-focused too.

        I agree about Scott Snyder. I only really like the Owls and Joker stuff from him. I wasn't a fan of Zero Year or Bloom, but Owls/Joker is amazing to me. :)
        I'm glad someone else sees all that stuff about Superman. I feel like he is one of the most popularly misunderstood characters ever. lol
        There was even a scene in the 00s JL cartoon everyone knows (or do they?) and loves where Superman is hellbent on killing Darkseid and Batman has to forcibly stop him, which really pisses him off. He was determined that Darkseid could not be allowed to live because of what a monster he is.
        Sometime soon I'll try to take a picture of my comic collection so far and see how many you've read. :)

        I agree on all fronts here. A lot of people thought the 89 theme didn't fit Batfleck, but I thought it was pretty powerful in that shot where he first appears to Gordon. If only the rest of the scene maintained that atmosphere.
        I think it would have flowed better, though, if they maintained the Junkie/Zimmer Batman theme and blended it with the 89 theme here and there using similar instruments. I feel like, other than that cameo 89 moment, Batman didn't really have his own musical identity in this movie (no one did really).
        Same with Superman. That Zimmer theme NEEDED to be in this movie. It's too special to just kick out the window like Elfman did. If we had a blend of Zimmer and Williams, with the focus on which one is dominant changing depending on the type of scene it is, I'd be extremely happy.

        I can easily blame Whedon for certain things. For example, he had Batman say "Alfred" on the rooftop right next to the apprehended burglar. That's a retarded piece of writing, and easily avoidable. So that's fully on him.
        Some of his jokes worked, some did not, so that's also fully on him. The lasso of truth joke was really funny, whereas Sups's joke about wanting to die again fell completely flat.

        Those are legitimate errors from scenes shot by Whedon, but my point is, when you bring a new director in to fix certain things and you put a deadline on him, and he has to adhere to a certain framework, you should expect these kinds of errors to pop up. Who knows, if Whedon had been given more time, he might've been able to catch those mistakes and correct them. Heck, maybe he already recognized before the film went into distribution that those scenes came out sounding wrong, but with the release date approaching, he didn't have the luxury of editing them out.

The darker and longer BvS movie, will likely end up earning perhaps... 200 million dollars more than the lighter and shorter Justice League movie? That irony is really painful, considering that WB ended up gaining nothing for all the changes and alleged mandates. Both movies are perceived to be terrible movies, that don't deserve to be liked by anyone. LOL And those same critics that bashed MoS and BvS for lacking humor and fun, ended up bashing the FUN Justice League movie for being "just another superhero movie", as well as highlighting EVERY flaw.

So, keeping that in mind, and looking at the numbers we have available from sites like IMDB, RT, and Metacritic, it seems those who actually bothered to watch the movies so far did generally like them. MoS was a success, BvS made money despite bad critical reaction, SS was a hit despite bad critical reaction for itself as well as the previous movie, WW was a success financially AND critically despite all the previous movies... It makes no sense why JL opened to lower numbers than all of those movies in the same universe. There's gotta be a better explanation.

        The reviews indicated another mediocre movie - the same thing we got from Snyder in MOS and BvS (and SS) - and folks avoided it.
        As I said, they got lucky with the first few - people went to see them, people gave them a shot and now they've learned that this just isn't working.
        WW had good reviews and... good word of mouth. I heard a lot of hesitation from a lot of people before they went to see WW but the "hey, it's actually good" talk got them to go see it. The best JL got was "it's not as bad." People want "good" not "not as bad."

      JL is nowhere near as bad, but it's makeing less money because people don't want to get fooled again. Kinda like what happened with TMNT. The sequel was a better but it made less money because of the first one.

  I'd say JL had a little bit more than ZERO anticipation! LOL Obviously it needed a better set-up than what BvS provided. Both with the narrative, and with the critical reception. But it still made 873 million dollars world-wide. There was still an opportunity to course correct, and win over the butthurt fans, with the JL trailers and marketing.       Scenes that I didn't understand? The movie is very simplistic, it's very easy to understand. It's just dumb, like the rest of Snyder's movies. Hell, I liked MoS, I wanted to love it but I couldn't. BvS is one of the worst films I've ever seen and for many people as well. BvS killed the DCU with it's horrible word of mouth. The movie was tanking hard in its very first weekend from Friday-Sunday then the 2nd weekend, it broke records for biggest drop offs in box office history. That doesn't tell you anything, simpleton?         Heck that wasn't even a problem, Man Of Steel had a 75% Audience Score. BVS had a 63% audience score due to the cut released no doubt. You can see it in Zacks Filmography that for the most part Audiences like his movies (Sucker Punch Excluded of course). Funny enough there actually a bunch of people unaware of the BVS Ultimate Cut which makes me very sad. Also, at least from what I've seen, the majority of people who watched the Ultimate Cut find it it significantly superior to the standard version.

And then you just find what you're interested in, for example the Tornado scene was very controversial. Why did Pa Kent have to die? Why in tornado and no heart attack or something similar? Why did they go under the overpass when it's so much more dangerous - so many people were so smart about this one for example, but they forgot the fact that the scene was happening in around 1996 (considering Clark was 16 at that point) and back then it was in fact recommended to hide under overpass in case of tornado.... He actually made 3 episodes about this short but very influential scene. Of course it is on iTunes ! :) Enjoy, have a nice day and listening

    The extended cut of BvS is further proof that Snyder just doesn't understand some aspects of moviemaking - there's no reason BvS should run 3 hours - muchless 3 1/2. It's basic movie storytelling - this isn't Lord of the Rings.

  Here's the thing tho, and please know I have only read some of the graphic novels, but just like a "Gotham by Gaslight" or idk something else, is it not interesting or intriguing to have a different take on the character? To the a Batman who's broken and is emotional and is out of practice and as a result is not the detective he once was? To have a Superman that never was a super man, just an orphan from an alien planet who questions his own existence and who's just trying to figure his own shit out, who lives in a world where there was no comic book character to aspire to...like Superman, so he eventually manifested it in himself against his own initial intentions which was to hide b/c he had a father who wanted to keep him safe, yet at the same time had a father who said be the greatest thing ever (conflict God forbid)? And a Wonder Woman who actually gave up hope until Batman roped her back in after he got reinspired by Superman's inadvertent sacrifice? Like I said, I'm not a comic book zealot, altho I wish I was b/c there's so much awesome content there, but that being said b/c I'm not I don't care that they changed up the characters and brought a new approach. As somebody who subscribes to the original take in the comics, do you think I am out of order? Cheers

    To me, all those changes you detail don't betray the characters the way others irrationally exclaim.
    It's the opposite. Navigating these struggles bolsters the bigger picture of the characters by adding value to their journey to become the characters we classically recognize. It gives weight and meaning to them being heroes at all.
    You know the phrase "Respect is earned"? That's what they're doing here. :) I think you and I and a handful of other people here see that, but it seems to be somehow lost on everyone else, which blows my mind.

    Nah, man. Not at all. I love elseworlds stories and alternate takes of the characters. That being said, live action films is the medium we get to see these characters the least and most of us would rather watch first a more traditional version of them. Broken down superheroes is an interesting concept, but works more as a graphic novel where there's no time restraints and it's trying to please many people at once.
    I even once said they should give Zack his own comics for him to do all the shit he wants. I'd probably even read them.

  It's more than that. It's, in part, the legacy of these characters and their cultural impact for this generation of kids growing up looking at them.
  It unsettles me to think of a world where kids are saying "Superman sucks" because of things like this. Superman should be inspiring kids to be better people when they grow up. It's important to have solid heroes, and he's the most critical one.

Fact of the matter is because I love MoS and BvS so much I got so into JL - I started visiting this site and for the first time ever I followed a movie's production closely. Seeing the movie crash and burn during its production troubles over the past few months really deflated my hype, and now the finished product is understandably disappointing to me!

the whole thing is basically Superman II all over again. Donner originally shot a lot of stuff for Superman II but then was fired and replaced with another director who finished the movie and significantly changed Donners version (And ironically WB wanted more humor in the new version, just like with JL so many years later) Donners cut was then released 25 years later. And then there was the fact that Burton was fired from Batman Forever because again WB wanted a more family friendly and fun movie for which Burton was deemed wrong. WB has been doing this for decades.
Just like with Donners version of Superman II, Snyders version of Justice League was NEVER actually finished. So you can not just put Snyders cut on the blu ray, that cut would actually have to get finished first. Which would cost WB quite a bit of money. Not gonna happen anytime soon. Maybe in 25 years lol

  Superman II is (possibly) a case of a studio meddling with a successful formula. Whereas, Justice League seems to be much more about a studio trying to right a sinking ship.

Exactly. When it comes to Snyder, everything is CGI. This makes it very expensive to finish his scenes. It's not like they were simply cut footages... Smart directors minimize CGI as it's time consuming and balloons the film budget. Audience with good tastes also don't like it.

        Honestly MoS CGI is the one where I found to be pretty damn remarkable. I didn't even know that Zod's armour was CGI until someone mentioned it 2 days ago. I'm really impressed by MoS CGI, it was extremely impressive.
        Then I watch BvS and can spot CGI fairly easily. WW's fight with Ares showed some gamey stand out CGI but that's it.

        But the difference is that Affleck and Cavill were in the middle of promoting the movie when they said those things, or the movie had just come out (Cavill's case). It is in their interest to say the positive things, no matter if they are true or not. Snyder, his son, the DP and many others are either not involved with the movie or have no obligation to promote it and they appear to speak their mind.
        And if I'm correct, both Momoa and Fisher mentioned a lot of stuff being cut and they clearly did not say it as if they were happy about it.
        I don't know if the original cut would be better or earn more money or if I would like it better. I think nobody can know that, other than of course those who worked on it. For me it is a matter of principle, that this is now a third time that a movie was severely influenced by execs and reactions and test groups and changed to be more in favor of those. I completely understand that from a business standpoint. But what they delivered was rushed, unpolished, short film with often weird mixture of tones and styles. Its opening weekend numbers were probably affected by negative response to previous movies but this movie did not improve that situation. It was slammed by critics and is divisive among fans along with all this drama around it. I just think it could have and should have been avoided.

      While I'll admit Ben Affleck isn't the greatest actor, probably like a B- or so, he's fairly alright so far considering using his recent films as method of judgment. In comparison to those you're using as examples which are like what? from 14+ years ago?
      Ben did alright as Bruce Wayne for BvS but it is noticeable he doesn't care for the role that much anymore if his performance in JL is anything to go by.
      BUT, within the context of the, "Reverse_Flash's" comment - "Ben said Whedon improved the movie" - that would be using Ben's knowledge as a Director to see that change therefore that view is from Ben in a Director's perspective.

    I remember my excitement for the first Avengers movie. It was a big deal to me, and I did think it was worth it (although it hasn’t quite held up for me - I do some fast-forwarding now). After seeing some cool Marvel team-ups onscreen, I was so much more excited for my preferred team-up. And having really enjoyed Snyder’s take on the characters, Justice League was gonna be the five-star dessert I’d been waiting for.
    Sadly, I did not get my five-star dessert. I got a Twinkie.

    Really? I mean, I haven't watched Season 3 yet, but Season 1 and 2 were jokes in my opinion for Legends. By making the show so campy, they ruined any dignity Dark Archer or Reverse Flash had IMO as legitimate villains.
    But I agree on Supergirl. Definitely the worst of the bunch. And I tried... I really tried to like that show, but I was just completely done after Supergirl beat Superman in a straight up fight despite Superman having over a decade's worth more experience under his belt AND fighting at full force as the show went out of its way to remind us.

      I get that that's what they were trying to go for, but I just think it fails miserably because there's too many leaps in logic to get on board with it just goofing around IMO.
      For instance, there must have been like 20 different opportunities for the Legends to defeat Vandal Savage in season 1, but they did so many stupid things and practically let him get away on purpose each and every time they seemingly had him in their grasp.
      Maybe I'll give season 3 a chance, but with the stuff they pulled in S1 and S2, it made my head hurt.
      But I'm definitely not trying to ruin your enjoyment of it. If you like it, more power to you. I'm happy you enjoy it. I wish I could share the sentiment.

        To Um: you are right. Patty Jenkins herself has said multiple times that she credits Zack Snyder big time for the "Wonder Woman" movie's story being the way that it is.
        While Snyder did not actually write the details of the screenplay as far as I know, the bigger-picture story and how to adapt Diana's origin and character arc into movie form was Snyder's (especially the First World War angle with the struggle for women's rights during that time, chemical and mechanized warfare that shocked the world in the early century, all the disillusionment over the carnage, etc.). Patty Jenkins herself even said that --- if left to her own devices to design her own origin movie for Diana --- this wouldn't have even been her way of doing it, but she came around and saw where Zack Snyder was coming from.
        Also note that back in 2016, Gal Gadot herself said the Wonder Woman movie would be "pretty dark" like the rest of Snyder's DCEU. Publicity changed after BvS was criticized for being "too dark", and so Wonder Woman's solo movie was then marketed as "light and fun", and Patty Jenkins did say that she needed to hold back on some tougher material so that little girls could rightfully see the movie without getting traumatized, but make no mistake: it's still a pretty dark Snyder-like superhero movie (but with more classic, old-school storytelling and more restrained, story-driven action scenes -- thanks to the direction of Patty Jenkins).
