'Gotham City Sirens' director reignites Catwoman rumors with a Twitter follow

Over the summer, Baby Driver star Eiza González found herself in the middle of some Catwoman rumors. I didn't cover them on Batman News because I didn't think there was anything to them, but here's what went down...

First DC Films head Geoff Johns started following her on Twitter, then she posted a photo on social media of the Warner Bros. lot, and even shared selfies in a catsuit (that did look very Catwoman) with the caption "the uniform lately". So if we play along and assume that all of those events mean something, there is some more evidence today to the Catwoman theory the internet has come up with.

Gotham City Sirens director David Ayer recently started following Eiza González on Twitter. And she just got a haircut today that is definitely very "Selina Kyle".

My opinion is that this is all just one big coincidence. Gotham City Sirens wasn't even mentioned at Comic-Con over the summer, and appears to be less of priority for Warner Bros. than Suicide Squad 2 or the Joker/Harley Quinn movie.     I hear you, but my choices were Kate Beckinsale, Rhona mitra, emily blunt or eva green. Maybe Eva Green for Ivy. I prefer Emily as CW.

        Same here, either one would have brought so much depth to the character, plus those costume on either one would be eye candy 😇. Though, if they cast the young lady in this article then they are going after the younger audience. Which makes sense from a financial standpoint. Plus, in all fairness if they did cast her I’m willing to get her the benefit of the doubt. A lot of actresses and actors have what it takes. It usually comes down to bad directions or scripts. Then again some people can’t act hahha. Fingers crossed.

I would have liked for Selina to be closer to Bruce's age but oh well.

  Selina is older then those two though, Harley has always been one the younger one as well. Another thing this movie is clearly set in present day if this takes place after SS so yeah Selina should be around Bruce's age and the leader more mature one of the trio, Ivy should also be in her 30's as she's older then Harley and the more dominant one out of the two.

      Okay but you are only doing what's right for one movie though, you aren't thinking of future cases where other directors might want to use her. If Reeves want to explore the romance between the two or even just their history, he won't be able to without it looking extremely weird.

        Leto is covered in make up and actually doesn't look like he is in his 40's.
        You can clearly see the difference between Affleck and Gonzalez.

        But the age difference is still the same, regardless. Affleck is covered head to toe in rubber as Batman. If she's Catwoman, she's Catwoman. Nothing is going to change that. I don't see why people are fretting over this.

        Their relationship isn't just in costume, so both of them should be covered the entire time because you wanted a young Selina in ONE movie? I'm actually looking at pics of Affleck in the suit right now and you can clearly tell there's an old guy in it. Someone mentioned earlier that Selina will be around 17 when Bruce is in his prime. Ana also made a good point because Catwoman motivation and origin is usually tied to Batman. What kind of history is that? Why do you want to complicate things when you can simply hire a good actress in her 30's?

        All of this is moot. If WB hires Gonzalez, none of us have the power to do anything so it doesn't matter. She's not even my pick so I don't have a dog in the fight.
        There's more important things in the world to complain about.

        OK. WB will choose whatever they want, but why not give a chance to older actresses? Why not have an actress in her late thirties or even in her forties? Most Hollywood actresses look pretty good at that age, have more experience and they would fit the character. We are not complaining but we are saying that we would like to see older women on screen and we think they would be fine in an anti-heroine role.
        In the age gap between Jared and Margot, I think that is justified because the Joker is a much older fox that used his experience and his manipulative traits in order to seduce and deceive a much younger and naive woman.

        Comics fans have the bad habit to demand the actors that they think is suitable to interpret their heroes, but it will be the director and the producers that will cast whoever they think that fits better in that role.
        I just think that Hollywood producers have this misconceptions that the public doesn't want to see female comic book figures being interpreted by women over 35 years old. So I think that we have to tell them that it is ok to cast older women.

      I agree. It's hard to imagine they would bring Catwoman to the movies without referencing her relationship to Batman (even if they are not in a romantic relationship, Catwoman's origins and motivations are usually related to Batman; otherwise, she could be just another burglar dressed in black). And why wouldn't WB want to explore this popular couple on the big screen? They could easily cast a 30-something actress without any loss for Gotham City Sirens, and still use her in a Bat-movie if they want to.

    You know that's not how it works. And he's right. She's not a good actress. This isn't a Gal Gadot situation where she didn't have the right movie role to shine in. Baby Driver had it set up for her with a great director, and she's just not good.

    I have no pee-pees to move, but I did see her in From Dusk Till Dawn and she just wasn't good. Maybe she was better in Baby Driver, but the comment was hardly baseless.

Now SHE looks like Catwoman. So many bogus suggestions from fans, but based purely on visuals, I think Eiza is fantastic! She has an intelligent, classy, subtly playful look in her eyes that is just dead-on Selina - at least, the kind of Selina we see in the Sirens books that would have strong chemistry with Ivy and Harley.
Being attractive is obviously important for the character, but there is much more to her than that too, even just in her appearance. So far so good.
The thing is... will she feel right opposite Ben? She seems young for his Batman (I was leaning toward Kate Beckinsale as a good pairing for him, but she'd make a killer Talia too).
Will have to check out her acting on YouTube later. Feeling optimistic from seeing other comments around. :)

  Nah i don't think she looks like Selina at all, she's hot sure but i don't see Selina at all. She's also not that great of a actress from what i've seen her in and i feel she's been chosen on her looks rather then her acting.
  Selina should look like a seductive sexy woman rather then a pretty face girl and thats what Gonzalez is a pretty face girl.

    I agree. Also if they can get someone with those electric green eyes then that would be amazing.
    However, I understand that Ayer is looking forward to have diversity in his cast, to better represent our modern reality. A black Deadshot etc. If we're constricted to choose a Latino actress, there are others out there that fit better on playing Catwoman.
    Keep in mind that we'll be stuck with this actress for a possible solo Batman movie as well. That's why it's so important to choose well.

  Just came back from the future!
  -Aquaman did really well.
  -The Batman solo film is considered amazing on par with TDK, some say even better.
  -All the JL films are fairly mediocre.
  -WW 2 was great but just wasn't as good as the first.
  -The Green Lantern corps was pretty awesome with the detective buddy cop type thing going on.
  -The Flash film was eh, it was pretty complicated to understand and the narrative jumped around a bit but it recieved fairly well.
  - Cyborg was a fairly deep film with the struggle of can I truly accept myself and be apart of this World? It was quite an internal struggle.
  You've heard it hear first folks!!!
  ps. If I'm right for any one of them I demand some free likes or else.

        I kinda laugh at BvS UE R-Rating because hear in the UK that cut is still a 12, SS on the otherhand is 15 despite BvS UE being far worse by dropping the F-Bomb, Afflecks's bare naked ass and brutal violence.

  Where did you get that Bruce is 45+ years old? They've never said his age and the only thing we have to go on is his "20 years in Gotham" comment. Yes, this comment would probably date him is his 40's, but they've never said 45+.

    Zack Snyder said he’s 45 in several interviews. Bruce became Batman at 25 in comics, and Alfred says he’s been fighting crime for 20 years and Ben is 45. Not sure what there is to deny in those proven facts.

He is the one who said in an interview that Batman knocked out Joker’s teeth and Joker got “Damaged” and dead Robin tattoo and grill after he killed Robin, but then also put in copy that Harley helped kill Robin during her introduction but showed her meeting Joker in Arkham with the grill and tattoos already. So you’re right, he could be that dumb. Hopefully Johns or some Quality Assurance type Producer will step in and make sure Ayer doesn’t mess up his own continuity again.

If diversity is a requirement for the role (seeing as the other two might already be "white"), then Eliza is the perfect choice. Hopefully they'll have her in her current comic book Catwoman outfit, not some weird high tech version of the Adam West series.

So a young Catwoman is the speculation. Romantically not unheard of, but for dceu Batman it might be pushing it. Close to margos age and 42 year old Joker so also not unheard of in universe. I imagined a young old dynamic between the three women with Selina mature, Ivy slightly younger and Harley the baby. Its Ayer and I liked her in BDriver so I don't mind if true but...

  I prefer Selina to be the (mostly) grown-up of the trio too. Worked so beautifully in the books. There's a lot of story potential in their chemistry.
  Hopefully we get Riddler to really complete the Sirens experience. Loved him in that opposite all of them.

  Where did you hear that Joker is 42 years old? That is news to me. Are you just assuming that? Because we don't know Bruce Wayne's age in the DCEU, only that it's been "20 years in Gotham". There's no reason why Joker can't be younger, and if anyone can pull it off, wearing make up, Jared Leto can.

Fuck sake why can't they go for someone Bruce's age, Selina has always been around his age and considering we have 20 year+ Batman can't they have a epic off and on again relationship what has lasted nearly two decades in the DCEU? No offense to the actress but everything i've seen her in she hasn't been good in and it feels like if she is cast its more because she's a pretty face rather then because she looks the part (she doesn't) and is a good actress. Hopefully its just a rumor as between her mediocre acting history, not looking like Selina and being too young i don't think she's right for Selina at all.

Based on this speculation of the rumours and such, I bet it is her, this Eiza chick.
When news broke about Affleck uploading the Deathstroke vid I straight up went to Joe Manganiello's twitter and instagram and what did I find? Joe with the Slade haircut and goatee on-point, and from that I knew that it simply had to be him, and in the end it was.

I´m from Mexico, I have seen some of the soap operas where Eiza was involved, and she is awful XD I don´t know if she has improved since she moved to USA, and maybe she was a bad actress in those soap operas because she had bad direction or horrible scripts, but I would prefer another actress for the role.

My guess is that GCS will be after both SS2 and Joker/Harley (Mad Love?), and I have a hunch that that happened because Matt Reeves might want either Ivy or Catwoman for The Batman (or a sequel). Let me know if he follows this young lady, then it might mean something.

I've seen her in Mexican soap operas, she's a Mexican actress that definitely got that hot badgirl vibe about her. Extremely sexy and lethal, would love to see her as Catwomen. That would be the sexiest lineup in cinematic history for that Sirens movie. I also get the feeling Suicide Squad 2 or Joker/Harley movie will be a prequel to Sirenz

    I checked it out. She was okay in it, but I also don't think it's a role that shows off much acting ability. The whole movie isn't really a strong, deep character thing. There are a lot of comedic stereotypes with some tepid drama and that's kind of it.

As a white Mexican aspiring actor myself I'd be happy to see her there cause she's paving the road for us. But as a Batman fan I can't stand the idea of her being selina.

LOL Yeah it's a pretty old rumor, based off of fancasting and Twitter detective work. No doubt her age, ethnicity, and lack of movie star power, would make her an annoyingly divisive casting choice for Catwoman. But I think she'd be great! Obviously her performance in Baby Driver, was very Selina Kyle-esque.
