'Kingsman' director Matthew Vaughn confirms 'Man of Steel 2' talks

Earlier this year it was reported that Warner Bros. wanted X-Men: First Class and Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn to direct Man of Steel 2. HeyUGuys caught up with Vaughn, who is promoting his new movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and he confirmed that talks have taken place.

“I am planning another Kingman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes... I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman," Vaughn said.

It turns out, Vaughn is a big geek like us. "If somebody asks me to do Indiana Jones, most of the superheros, or Star Wars, the fanboy in me can’t help but be excited," he added.

  I'm not having a problem with the headline, I'm having a problem with WB pushing all sorts of crap, whereas, they should be focusing on their most famous hero, and definitely be securing someone as talented as Vaughn. Yet, all I hear is "I've had chats." You bet your ass, I have a problem.

      I guarantee you Superman is more famous than Batman. The very name of Superman has become a term of its own -- a "person who is exceptionally capable or strong." It is not uncommon for one person to complement another by saying, "He is a real superman." Batman may be currently more prominent, but Superman is on a whole different level.

        Let me draw you a picture from personal experience -- over in my country, the young generation knows well who both of them are. But the older generation does not know Batman nearly as well as it knows Superman. The fact is, Batman is only prominent now, whereas Superman has been prominent for generations all over the world. He is one of the staples of the US culture, along with hamburgers, Uncle Sam, Coka Cola, and cowboy hats.

        If Kent was more famous up to that, globally, wouldn't the popularity of Batman since actually make that character "more famous"? Especially since the older generations are getting smaller, while the younger generation is getting bigger?

        And as to Sups, he is among those. His image is instantly associated with the US in the minds of people all over the world. Batman -- not so much. And it's so deeply ingrained that I don't see it changing any time soon. For that matter, I think that even Spiderman is more associated with the US than Batman. I believe it also has to do with the color scheme. Nothing about Batman screams "AMERICA."
        Personally, me and my friends learned of Batman's existence only in the mid 90s, thanks to Burton. Of Superman we knew before that.

        Actually, I'd think the Rubik's Cube. Most of my friends had the Rubik's Cube back in the 80s. Only a handful had a Batmobile...mostly because they weren't interested in comic books.

      man I have to agree... as solid as man of steel is BvS has kept the conversation going since march 2016 and I'm still finding more and more Easter eggs and symbolism... for me BvS did to comic book movies what the dark knight did without sacrificing comic book magic (like having the joker just wear face paint as opposed to him having actual bleached skin)... and the changes that were made? Just made everything fresh and new again like lex jr... Man of steel is a perfect comic book movie but BvS just takes it to whole other level...there are a couple confusing moments in BvS just because some scenes are non linear (im convinced that lex going into the kryptonian ship/using the finger prints all happen during the later half of the film, pay attention to his outfits...) but it only makes me love the movie even more... it's 3 hours of epic that feels like 30 minutes

  I don't know. It was one of the best Superman interpretations, but that 3rd act makes it hard to label it "the single greatest" (I think it's Unbreakable). Plus, Watchmen: Ultimate Cut is a far superior Snyder film.

Could be OK, but I loved MoS from Snyder so much. Let's hope Matthew Vaughn do not add sexual scenes like he did for Kick Ass or at the end of Kingsman 1.

        And no, action is not everything, and that's why I liked the aformentioned movie so much. And even though Jenkins got critical love, I stil prefer Snyder's ones ven though I liked WW a lot
        And stop saying "WB needs directors with good track records". Have you ever seen the tracks of some of the Marvel directors? And even if they are good, like Branagh, they can make awful cbms, like Branagh. Even Kevin Feige has his name on some of the biggest stinkers there are.         Jenkins only had one major movie but it was a pretty good one and you could tell she had a good sense of storytelling and character development. I always thought she was a great choice and turned out she was.
        Now if WB finds it too hard to hire good directors (i don't see the reason why) then they should have a very capable guy on top, watching everybody, like Marvel.

        But a lot of the directors that you want are gonna be high quality. You may not be looking for Spielberg or Cameron, but these directors that you want aren't gonna be cheap. And again, it doesn't matter if they have zero interest in doing a CBM for various reasons.
        And having a Feige can drive away directors like Wright who doesn't like have having someone looming over their shoulder. It's why the Elsworld films can be a good idea. They'll attract directors who want to follow their own rules and not someone else's.

        Marvel has made 16 well recieved movies. WB has 3 mixed-panned movies and 1 well received one. What they are doing is clearly working a lot better than what WB is doing and that's not even debatable.

        I get it, you're one of those fanboys who live in their little bubble and think the world was wrong about BvS and are OK with DC being the laughing stock of CBM's. That's fine but I think DC characters deserve much better. They are the most iconic superheros in the world and deserve to be loved by all as they once were, not just by fanboys with zero critic eye.
        Yes Marvel hires crappy directors all the time, but guess what? They have Kevin Feige keeping an eye on them, while WB hires directors with mediocre track records and they give them full freedom. See the difference?
        Unlike Marvel, WB has a director oriented universe and thus their movies are only as good as the directors they hire. That's why Snyder delivered two mixed-panned movies while Jenkins delivered a critically acclaimed one. If you have one very capable guy on top then you don't need top notch directors, if you don't then hire good directors only.
        And yes good directors can screw up too, but that's less likely than a mediocre director screwing up.
        Something so obvious and yet WB just doesn't get it.

        Well of course they weren't. Why do you think his daughter killed her self? Do you really believe she committed a suicide? There's rumors about why it happend and it has a lot to do with Snyder being the way he is. Not putting any demonic propaganda into his movies, making real art and not willing to lower his standards. It seems like Jews finally got to him when he left.
        I'm not saying he's bad, after all it's him who gave us the ultimate batsman theme song from BTAS. What I'm trying to say is that he's definitely more "family-friendly" than Junkie XL.         Hmm. I'm going to have disagree with you on XL Junkie. I don't see anything on his resume to imply he's not anymore dark then Elfman. I'll also have to disagree about his best theme. Still going with Woe, The Darkman...Woe. That's probably because both Darkman & Batman share the same influence.
        I wouldn't say the truth is the opposite of what's told. It's buried within the narrative. If it was just "the opposite", it would be pretty easy to decipher the truth.

        Okay. Where does it talk about the new scenes & rewrites? We knew Whedon directed reshoots & new scenes without Snyder. I still don't see where it specifies how far into postproduction before Snyder walked away. Did they discuss the new scenes? We're the new scenes & revisions nearly all written when Snyder left? Did Snyder give Whedon outlines for the stuff & Whedon just fleshed it out?

  I do but not for the sake of story and depth. Kingsman was cool but I sure as hell don't remember one line from that movie. Story is so simple... Avengers the same, full of punching and blowing + one liners (Black Widow on a bike in Ultron: "Excuse me, coming through" just for a cheap laugh) but not much you can remember except the cringy moments.
  Junkie XL has a lot of great stuff, he worked with Hanz on multiple movies and has a touch for music like Zack has for movies. Listen to Bombers Over Ibiza on some solid speakers or earphones and you might understand.

Im not exactly a fan of that idea (based on what he said before), but he have street credit because 'First Class'. I just wanna somebody what understood what Zack Snyder did and keep challenging Superman in today's world, even if now he would be a more popular figure. I have my doubts if Vaugh can do it, based on past conversations about it, but again, 'First Class' made me believe he can delivered. Let's wait and see.

Honestly, I'd love to see Snyder helm Man of Steel 2 but I can more than understand that he won't do that given the recent family tragedy. Matthew Vaughn would be a welcome pick.

With all the publicity material that DC/WB is saving about Superman, I am confident that after his return to JL, the MoS 2 date will be announced with director included... and I would love that director is Matthew Vaughn!!
As for Zan Snyder, his vision that he wanted to show us of this Superman ends with the JL, so it is understandable the inclusion of another director for his sequel.
