'Wonder Woman' producer explains why there's no credits scene

Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder wanted to include an additional scene during the credits, but opted not to because "Marvel does that". Suicide Squad director David Ayer didn't mind, and included a cool scene during the credits between Ben Affleck and Viola Davis. So will Wonder Woman continue that credits scene trend?

Unfortunately, the answer is "no" according to Wonder Woman producer Charles Roven, who revealed the news to Cinemablend. "I'm not going to say we'd never do one. ... There was one in Suicide Squad," Roven added. "But I don't think that we want to feel that we're forced to do something just because we didn't in the past."

I must admit, I'm a bit surprised to hear that Wonder Woman won't feature an additional credits scene. I was expecting to see Ben Affleck show up to talk to Wonder Woman and help set up Justice League some more. Are you surprised to hear this news as well? I think it'd be cool if they had a scene that maybe set up something for Wonder Woman 2 or even like a tease of another lesser Wonder Woman villain that probably wouldn't be the focus of the 2nd movie. Like I loved how the end of the animated film ended with her fighting Cheetah for that split second. That was cool, oh well.

Honestly, do we really need an end credit scene? What other tie-in could there be that they need to tease? We already know the Amazons are gonna play a role in the story of the Mother Boxes, but they should save that for JL.

Good! I am not a fan of credit scenes. Though, they can still have Ben in the main movie near the end or something, Chris. I wouldn't rule it out.

Thank God, those end credits scenes have gone from awesome wtf moment to pure gimmicks. If JL was next year and us fanboys needed something to keep the conversation alive maybe but the movie is literally 6 months after Wonder Woman so no need to tease as we about to have a second trailer and much more info about the movie.

I don´t think we need a post-credit scene. The movie is supposed to be a flashback, or I am wrong? A present day scene with Bruce can be placed during the movie, not after it. Just like the post credit scene of Suicide Squad could have been easily another scene of the movie.

Personally I think it is lazy to make the tease after the credits. I like the way Batman Begins, MoS, and BvS did how they tease you right before the credits and leave you hanging. Every time I see it after the credits I feel like it is a useless scene added to the movie just to make people say "WAIT! WHAT?".

Agreed. And a lot of people don't watch the end credit scene, so that makes any plot points less significant. Take Thor TDW's end credit scene for instance. Marvel will still have to explain what happened to the aether sometime in the future.

  Marvel has a lot of explaining t do in fact. Two things that still REALLY bothered me. How did SHIELD become well, SHIELD again in Age of Ultron? Didn't Fury said SHIELD is no more near the end of Winter Soldier? Another thing and this is also from Age of Ultron. We know Hulk left the team and his ship crashed somewhere on Earth, Fury said that himself to Black widow, also at the end of Age of Ultron. So HOW the hell did he end up in space in Thor Ragnarok? Hopefully it will be explained.

We know that the film is flashback as Diana tells her story to someone in the present. What if she's telling her story to Bruce? Unlikely...but maybe?

I am glad it doesn't have an end-credits scene. I don't think DC needs them. Not that I mind them, or don't think they're fun, but do the directors or the studio REALLY think I want to sit through about 10 minutes of credits just to see a sequel setup scene. I don't. With the runtime of about 2 and a half hours, dark story, but still has humorous parts, and no end-credits scene, this movie seems like a true DC movie. The movie I am very concerned about not taking in these things is Justice League, I feel like that movie is going to try to be like a Marvel movie, and that would make me upset. JL is the only DC movie I am a bit worried about, but I am seeing hope from hearing that the opening scene is pretty dark. Wonder Woman sounds like it is going to be great, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Please, no Bruce at the end, no sequel setup, don't make it a flashback, just make it a prequel that we can watch before Man of Steel. I am hoping that the movies are able to be watched: 1. Wonder Woman 2. Flash 3. Man of Steel 4. Batman vs. Superman 5. Suicide Squad 6. Justice League. Then we can watch whatever they have planned after Justice League. I picked Flash for the beginning because of his extra scene in Batman v Superman and his cameo in Suicide Squad.

Well SS did suggest that he is sort of new, even referred to him as a "red streak". A cool way to give him his powers would be to connect it to the Black Zero Event since it did shake up Earth's atmosphere. Even make it affect Atlantis, ruined the ocean, woke up bigger threats so Orm is using it as an excuse to attack the surface dwellers.

It probably will be a flashback "I used to want to save the world". That old photo of hers will be sent to her by Bruce too. i don't see why that should be a problem. She was introduced in batman v Superman, but the audience barely knew anything about her, so it would make sense for her story to be told like a flashback.
Also, you can be sure Flash won't take place before Man of Steel. He most likely got his powers after that movie, and it wouldn't be wise to squeeze in another story between MoS and BvS when they can just do it in the present after JL

Marvel drove the concept into the ground, so all should frankly stop. The mid-credit one in Squad was interesting but it only worked due to no realistic room for a Waler centric epilogue in the last proper scene.
They would thus need to organically withhold information from 3rd act scenes for a credit gimmick to work.
Batfleck shouldn´t be used as a carrot on a stick either.

Based off some clips and footage already released, I think Bruce and Diana reunite, at the beginning of Justice League. No doubt Patty Jenkins went for a hopeful ending. Having a post-BvS Diana, finally decide to return to America, and embrace her destiny again, would make sense. An Amanda Waller post-credit scene, would be awesome though. I so glad there is no post credit scenes because Patty Jeakins knows how to direct movies not teasers. Talking to you SS and MCU films (even though I liked lots of them just kinda ruin it because the final image is suppose to mean something like Logan)

sorry but to not have a end credit scene just because Marvel does it all the time, just hints it on the nose all the more. I just feel that having an end credit scene has transcended it from being just one companies thing and more of a geek thing.

At least now there is no reason to stay for the credits. Always a silver lining, I guess.

For me it doesn't matter if it is a after credit scene or mid credit or whatever you like to call it - as long as there are some tiny cameos of the already established characters or upcoming characters - just to show us this i a connected universe.

Like the cameo of Flash in Suicide Squad. Was angry that there was no cameo of Wonder Woman catching Slipknot (she or he mentioned that WW was the one who imprisoned him.

They have to show us the connection between these movies. Batman with WW talking at the end would be perfect.

Heck introducing the Rock as Black Adam could have happened at the end of Man Of Steel. Now there is still the possibility for that. Black Adam is talking to the elderly magician to get all the Powers he want's to know where Billy is to claim his Powers. He fears the Power of all these new Aliens, Gods and Metahumans that he thinks they could attack Kahdaq.

There Could be a cameo of Constantine or even Zatanna who reaches out to the JL and give them the advice to be ready for someone who they can not defeate easily because of his magic powers and boom there is the JLDark..

Dont mind it at all. The way the DCEU has structured it's universe's timeline basically renders any teaser as unnecessary.

The Flash scene with Capt. Boomerang, BvS's Justice League teasers and the Knightmare scene basically do the same job as regular post/mid-credits teasers. The intention of a credits scene is to tease future installments, the scenes I listed do that pretty well already.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Wonder Woman began or ended with a connection to Justice League or even Batman v Superman. I mean, Queen Hippolyta could say the word "Atlantis" and that would be more than enough.

The Flash cameo is more effective from an audience standpoint and a narrative one than some scene at the very end of the movie (which 95% of the audience will not stay for) that shows Thanos smiling.
Flesh out your narrative during the actual bulk of the movie, not the end of it.

Marvel kinda patented the the need for credit scenes, sort of 'next week on..' from TV, and is great for Marvel, its their thing now, at least in comic book movies, bring it over to any other franchise feels forced.
DCEU approach of connections within the story pleases me better.

lol just because Marvel has made it a trademark of their films does not mean others can not do it too. It connects the films more and creates a more cohesive narrative.

Thats like saying DC can not make a Justice League movie because Marvel already makes team up movies with the Avengers. Once again executives stupidity at its finest.

I get what you're saying but I honestly don't think your analogy is the best to use. Justice League and Avengers are adapted from the Comics, so there would've been a JL movie eventually.
I wouldn't be quick to say it "connects the films more and creates a more cohesive narrative" I believe you can set up a sequel or another movie before the movie finishes just as well if you were to use end credit scenes. Take a look at the ending for Batman Begins. It set up its next movie perfectly without an end credit scene. But that's just my opinion.
