Michael Keaton calls Spider-Man a "p*ssy", says Batman would never cry (video)

Michael Keaton just can't stop being awesome! Days after he said that Batman could beat up anyone, including The Hulk, he's back in the news for another Batman quote.

Keaton appeared on The Tonight Show last night, and told host Jimmy Fallon a story about going into a store to get his broken iPhone fixed. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was playing on one of the TVs, and the clerk seemed more interested in that than Keaton himself. Keaton decided to watch some of the movie, just as Spider-Man started crying after -- spoiler alert! -- Gwen Stacy died.

Keaton asked the clerk, "This is Spider-Man? Is he crying?" The clerk replied, “Yeah.” Keaton paused for a bit and simply said, "P*ssy." The clerk gave him a look and Keaton added "Batman would never cry."

Check out the hilarious story in the video above. Even though I also run Spider-Man News, it's hard to argue with Keaton on this one. I think I'll just leave this here...

Now Keaton is just being a dick. There is clearly a big age difference between the two. Who wouldn't cry if he lost the love of his life in the most brutal way possible, more importantly the guilt that accompanies him for failing to save her by the fraction of a second. Same for Uncle Ben. Batman himself knows what it's like to lose a parent.
Did Batman not cry when he opened Thomas Wayne's letter from Flashpoint? Did he not cry over Jason Todd's body? I remember Batman shedding a tear when he tried to break free from Scarecrow's toxin. In JLA: The Nail, Joker tortured Batman to tears.
No one loves DC here more than I do but I'm not going to side with Keaton on this one if he means it seriously. I find it terribly insensitive.

    Oh alright then, the man's going places :) That scene from TASM 2 was pretty tragic, I still read that comic and it gives me chills. Cool ✌ Keaton's a tremendous actor.

  off insulting people or putting people down claiming it's humor.

    Are you still bashing? "I'm Batman" Michael Keaton: "Batman would never cry": Keaton still refers to himself as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Keaton's Batman is not Bale's Batman or Flashpoint Batman, or Adam West's Batman, etc. There are many versions of Batman in comics, films, TV, etc. Name calling Michael Keaton "an idiot and a jerk"? Shame on you. Besides, Michael Keaton is a former stand up comedian and comedy actor. He was clearly having a laugh, unlike yourself. Did he hurt Spider-Man's feelings? How do you hurt a fictional characters feelings? Lighten up.

So I guess Batman never cried remembering his parents? Maybe not his version, but apparently Mr. Keaton's never seen Batman Mask of the Phantasm or Justice League Flashpoint. It's not unmanly to cry!

To be fair, Batman does rarely cry, but when he does, then shit must have gone down, and a character crying is kind of a necessity since we need to relate to that character, and showing emotions is an important part of that, and Batman is 100% a human, he needs emotions, even though he always tries to repress them.

  You gotta admit that Batman cries a lot less than a regular human though, it's probably why he's as messed up as he is. Keaton's Batman in particular had a touch of insanity that even he acknowledged - he's probably the most messed up of all the versions of Batman.

He just wanted to get the fix-it guy's attention :P Also, it's just funny to me how Keaton has obviously not seen the Spider-man movies, nor possibly has any knowledge of the comic character. His interest only lies with Batman, and mostly, I think, because he got to play him.

Other than the falling down (which I can excuse as a feint to make his getting back up scarier for the thugs), that was an excellent Batman scene. The rest of the movie was great and it's still one of my two favorite Batman movies all-time, but its portrayal of Batman never quite got back to the promise of that scene.

I honestly can't believe the people who are getting up in arms about the stuff Keaton has been saying recently, he's just joking around/having fun. I guess it's probably just a bunch of high strung kids, no legitimate adult could get angry at this stuff. Keaton is a great personality, hope he gets a part in a DCEU movie. It'd be so sick if he played Comissioner Gordon!

That said Keaton is at best an idiot and worst an idiot and a dick. Does no one remember The Dark Knight 2008 @ about 1h:38m where Bruce, with a lump in the throat, is sobbing about Rachel to Alfred with some small tears on his face. He was clearly crying during the night. Batman does cry and is not a pussy.
