Gotham returns on September 21 for its second season, and today FOX has kicked off their marketing campaign.
The first video picks up right where we left off in Season 1, and shows Bruce and Alfred discovering the Batcave. The second video teases some new (and returning) villains in the world of Gotham. Check out both teaser videos below.

I feel alone on loving this show, everywhere I go online people are always saying bad things about it, but I hear is the highest rated show on Fox and the most viewed, so I'm not sure what is going on lol, hopefully season 2 is an improvement so more can tune in, think of this show as an elseworld story, we aren't getting that real Comic book Batman on screen until BvS next year with Ben Affleck, just enjoy the ride and try to focus on the good things of this show as well than just the bad.

it's entirely possible to find this show disappointing regardless of "canon", hopes & expectations, or continuity. it's entirely possible that it's just not a very good show, regardless of the fact that it takes place in "Gotham".

i also sorta like Harvey which is great because i really dislike him in the comics. i just wish it were a better-written show and that Gordon was a better character.
i'd like to see Gordon be more interesting. i think they made some bad choices with him out of the gate. it's room for improvement. in the meantime i do enjoy penguin and Bruce. but i still think it's generally a poor show.

i love this show. people just love to hate DC. this show sh*ts all over agents of shield, and i like that show. its far more interesting and has a lot more depth to it. agents of shield is an easy watch not much to have to really think about, its more of a filler show and i guess people these days do not like to have to think about stuff.
It's creatin' its own canon for its universe. Each universe has their own continuities. This is nothin' different.

Once you learn to treat this show as a non-canon, it's quite fun to watch. Nobody bitched about Injustice making Superman a villain because it was declared non-canon right off the bat.

When people realise it's not a "Gordon origin" and that it's a Gotham (the actual name of the show *insert derp face here*) origin, the sooner they'll like it.
Maybe I am not remembering correctly (which happens a lot now; maybe I should change my name to Old Man Logan), but when the show first came out, I recall reading a review that said the show was more of a Jim Gordon story than a Bruce Wayne story. That could explain people looking at he show as such.
The main character is Gordon, but it's not just his Origin, it's a Gotham origin.
More Jerome please! I was so against doing the Joker on this show, and showing his origin. It seemed like such a cheap publicity ploy that I figured I would hate. But Cameron Monaghan blew me away and I love the character they've created for a pre-Joker. Now it's one of my most anticipated parts of season 2, bravo!

You know what the problem with Jerome was? Fox's stupid-ass advertising that spoiled the twist the week before. Imagine that moment if we didn't see it coming. I'm looking forward to seeing how the show continues to develop and mature.
Exactly. Everything else was perfect. Jerome was awesome. He was a mix of the other Jokers but the only reason they did that was to get a lot more viewers.
I KNOW. I was like whatever at first because I thought it was a dumb idea to have the Joker in this show. Then he blew me away and I was SOOO pissed that they spoiled it a week before just to get people to tune in. They did that with a lot of their sneak peak previews, like with the batcave
He becomes Batman around season 3 because why not?

Where most people go wrong in disliking this show is that they believe all of these origin stories are being presented as the definitive origin stories. People need to get educated.
This show gets hate for the dumbest reasons
It's not perfect but it's a hell of a lot of fun.
And the problem is, you're right- people don't comment on the actual flaws of it like some weak arcs, an off soundtrack and very rare spotty dialogue, they just whine because it's different from the comics.
I didn't even notice the soundtrack haha expect for when they show the logo. The dialogue is meh 90% of the time. And I feel like when they would write things for Barbara they would screw her over so badly so they can introduce Rene and The Orge. She was crap.
And for good reasons as well.

My dad and I are loyal "Gotham" viewers--he is far less a comic fan than I am, but he loves Batman--and what we always say is that you don't tune into "Gotham" expecting perfection; you tune in expecting it to be different from the other offerings on TV. It brings Gotham to life, in a more stylized sense than the Nolan trilogy while being more grounded than the Burton films, and it manages to balance tones and themes and visuals from Burton, Nolan and even Schumacher. It's immensely watchable and entertaining, and that's what really matters.

He agreed at the moment it's a 'dreadful love story,' basically, and wants it to get back to how it was. Like my show. I say if Deathstroke tells you to do it, you do it.
It takes a lot of 'work' to have Ra's as your main villain, and to screw almost whole season.
Story WAS good until season mid-finale ended. After that - it was hardly bearable to watch that shit.

I don't blame the CW, that's on the writers. These days the CW has several shows out now which well and truly defy that stigma.

oh god they're bringing that weird Joker kid back? I preferred it when they kept his identity a secret and teased who it might be (then again i think they only did that for like a few episodes). Also i'd love to see some flash forward to like 10-20 years in the future since its like 20 episodes long per season and they'll eventually run out of ideas and probably rush into things.

I'm rewatching Harry Potter and seriously the last few remind me how much faith I have in Warner Bros to adapt source material and keep things dark, serious, grounded, but mythic, funny and epic. The DCEU is their new Potter, really, their next big titan franchise to do well and bring in money. Couldn't have more faith in them as a studio and all of the people working on the DCEU.
More to the point I want a scene like this in the DCEU, probably a Batman movie in terms of cinematography, or from the magic aspect any of the JL Dark stuff, just because of how well it's shot. Yeah, their doing the spinoffs, but HP was their titan, leading series for a decade or so, and Fantastic Beasts won't really bring that for them. DC is their flagship these days.
Just as Marvel was really Disney's flagship but will now be replaced by Star Wars.

Like I said..its subjective, but when you call 6 of the most loved and successful franchises of all time 'worst fucking movies ever', there's something wrong here. If you wouldve said that you dont like these movies, it wouldve been different, but proclaiming that these are the worst movies ever means youre just looking for attention. Its like you went out of your way to name these, because you know these are movies that are almost universally liked.

Well, I thought it was pretty good. I don't know if this was directly a result of it exceeding my expectations or what, but it definitely felt like the other Greg Berlanti shows. It being on CBS and going up against things like Gotham & Monday Night Football are all reasons as to why I think it could wind up getting cancelled, though.
It really wasn't. Terrible acting, cliche and lazy writing and bullshit special effects but luckily it's only the pilot. Things can always change.

It's not my personal favorite comic based show, but I do enjoy it for what it is. It's sort of nice that it doesn't always take itself too seriously or anything. Brings a fresh take to a modern day Batman themed story.
Agreed. Sometimes people have to detach themselves from the canon a bit and just enjoy something on its own merits. But I guess that's asking for too much. I mean, it's really no different than the people who hate the Nolan movies because it was a grounded and realistic Batman. They'll completely ignore the fact that they're great movies and bash on it for the most absurd reasons.
Gotham is pretty fun! It can be super gritty and it can also be a little quirky. Not to mention, I absolutely LOVE the visual take on the show! It's almost a PERFECT representation of the Gotham City!
I loved all the episodes of Gotham except for a few strange and oddly placed moments here and there. It makes me think that not all episodes are written/overseen by Bruno Heller to maintain quality control. Perhaps there's too much focus on rushing episodes. I sure hope they take more time on Season 2 to ensure top quality stuff, with as few loopholes as possible. Other than that, I love the war between the mafia groups, the foreshadowing of comic villains, the fact that there are consequences to certain actions, the relationship between Bruce and Selina and their take on characters like Alfred, Nygma, Penguin and Bullock. I think they've done top notch work on those aspects, and hope they keep it up.
yeah I love the show...some (well, a lot if I'm being 100% honest) stuff just needs to be tightened up a bit. The casting and acting is great, it's just the writing that makes me cringe occasionally
