Variety: Scott Eastwood isn't playing Steve Trevor in 'Suicide Squad'

A couple of weeks ago, Latino Review reported that Scott Eastwood would play Steve Trevor in Suicide Squad, but now Variety says that story isn't true. Yesterday news broke that director Michelle MacLaren dropped out of Wonder Woman, and Variety says the male lead of Steve Trevor has yet to be cast.

Sources tell Variety that test offers were set to go out to four actors for one of the male leads films on Monday. It had been rumored that the role Scott Eastwood had nabbed for “Suicide Squad” was Steve Trevor, the love interest of Wonder Woman, but sources now say that is not true and that the four actors testing would be for the role of Trevor.

Scott Eastwood has confirmed that he's in Suicide Squad, but it looks like he isn't playing Steve Trevor. Who do you think he'll be? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

If the Wonder Woman film is indeed going to be set during WWI (or WWII), perhaps Scott Eastwood is playing the grandson of Steve Trevor in the present, (similar to how the Wonder Woman TV show dealt with Steve Trevor in different eras or how the MCU has dealt with Peggy Carter). This would allow Clint Eastwood to cameo as an elderly Steve Trevor at the end of Wonder Woman or in another modern-day DCCU outing.
Or maybe Scott Eastwood is playing Diana Prince's talking pet tiger.

    Yeah, I know, though it's unclear whether or not WB wanted a modern-day Wonder Woman film and MacLaren rejected the idea, or vice versa.
    I personally love the idea of a WW film set in the 1920s or 40s, specifically because the art deco production designs and costumes would be awesome. Gadot could really bring the old school Hollywood glamour to the character along with her ass-kicking and lassoing skills.
    But like I said, it's likely that Scott Eastwood has been cast as Diana Prince's talking pet tiger.

      It would make a stupid movie for her to be in present time in BVS: DOJ and have the WW movie in a flashback. If that truly was MacLaren's idea then I'm glad she's not working on it (this would explain why DC said she left because of "creative differences")

        Why would it be a stupid move? I thought the first Captain America (and it's historical, flashback setting) was one of the better decisions the MCU made.
        Think of it this way. In BvS, Diana Prince has already left Themyscira behind and entered the "world of man" as an ambassador and/or defender. If the Wonder Woman movie is going to tell the classic Wonder Woman story of Diana becoming an Amazonian Ambassador, then the movie will have to take place before the events of BvS (and MoS).
        Also, assuming that the Justice League forms at the end of BvS, that would mean we'd get Diana joining the Justice League, and then going off on her own solo adventure, before coming back for a Justice League movie. To me, that makes less sense than doing a flashback origin story set in the 20s or 40s.

        But CA came BEFORE The Avengers. Diana won't have a huge role in BVS: DOJ so WW will develop her and all these movies need to lead in to the JL. Finding out why she was in BVS is accomplished by a present time story

        That's a great point. CA came before the Avengers, but still after Iron Man and Incredible Hulk.
        From everything I've heard, which is probably no different than what you've heard, WW will have a medium size role in BvS, similar to the role Lois or Faora had in MoS.
        Even if the WW film is set in the present day (and hopefully it will be largely set on Themiscyra, so the time period won't actually matter all that much), it will still need to be a 'flashback' set before the events of BvS, otherwise, they'll need to come up with a convulated reason why WW joins the Justice League, only to go off on her own solo adventure, before the events of the Justice League movie.
        What can I say. I'm a sucker for old-school Hollywood glamour, and I think Gal Gadot will look fantastic in jazz-era apparel. Also, I personally want Wonder Woman to be an retro adventure movie, similar to CA or Indiana Jones, so the historical setting works well for that. I'm thinking something along the lines of Justice League: New Frontier.
        Just my opinion. If I worked for DC they probably would fire me for 'creative differences.' At least I would never try to give Diana Prince a talking pet tiger.

        I suspect MacLaren's exit has more to do with the talking tiger rumor than the flashback rumor.
        I'll be fine with whatever era Wonder Woman is set in, as long as it doesn't involve talking animals. Save that shit for Shazam (or the MCU).

    I'll believe it when I see it, but I certainly believe that it's a possibility that WB (or MacLaren) was/is serious about pursuing.
    Anyway, if WB goes with that chronogy it would explain why Scott Eastwood is rumored to be playing Steve Trevor, but WB is rumored to still be looking for another actor to play Steve Trevor.

    If WB wants to go the traditional pretty boy beefcake route, I'd be fine with someone like Ryan Gosling. Armie Hammer is too tall to play Steve Trevor. Steve Trevor shouldn't be bigger than Batman or Superman.
    To me it really depends on who has good chemistry with Gadot.

      Cool. Let's get rid of Lois Lane while we're at it.
      Here's an idea, let's create a brand new character to help advance the plot in the Wonder Woman movie. Maybe we can name him Treve Stevor. He can show up on Themyscira, introduce Diana Prince to the world of man, connect her with the U.S. Government, and then fade into the background without forming any further relationship with Wonder Woman, romantic or otherwise.
      The Wonder Woman story (as it has generally been told) requires that she form some sort of connection to a human man, giving her cause to leave the Amazons and become a hero for Earth. Wonder Woman needs Steve Trevor, in the same way that Superman needs Lois Lane and Batman needs Alfred. The romance isn't as important as the the role Trevor plays in helping Diana Prince become Wonder Woman.
      (And I hate to say it, but the Parker/Stacey romance from ASM2 was the most tolerable aspect of that movie.)

I am absolutely floored that this rumor may not be true. Kidding. I'll sometimes get excited about the possibility of a rumor being reality, but I never take casting or plot rumors seriously until the studio, actor, trailer or film itself confirms it. No reason to spend much time entertaining any of these Killer Croc, Steve Trevor, Slipknot, etc. rumors until there's some sort of actual confirmation.

I have no idea about his acting ability but when I read that he would be Trevor i thought "Well he definitely qualifies". If qualifying for Steve Trevor = being an attractive male lol. I wonder who he is playing and who are the other four actors they're looking at. Also I just love how much Suicide Squad is just this big ensemble film and theres still so much we DON'T know. It's fun and I hope this movie is fun too.

He's 29 and would be a perfect Dick Grayson or Jason Todd. Considering how Suicide Squad is filled with tons and tons of Batman mythos like Arkham Asylum, Gotham City, rogues gallery etc. It would also be an easy way to keep Batman off this movie physically. But what if he's a villain.... huh i mean bad guy to the bad guys. I mean the enemy to the suicide squad. Whew.

      Well not so strange when the role requires some physical capability and starting with an older guy with the universe beginning may not be so smart. They can always age the actor up and the tony daniels slade was younger . Parrack is a big 6'4 guy and has worked with Ayer before . Its going to be alright.

  Steve Trevor has been a character going back to the early 1940s. He's been a lot of things over the past several decades, sometimes he's been bland, sometimes he's been hilarious. Sometimes he's primarily a love interest, sometimes he's primarily a government agent.
  It's kind of hard to look at 70+ years of a character like Steve Trevor and make an accurate assessment about how well he'll be used in a modern-day property, especially in live-action.

        Right now Williams sucks, his music is just bland, monotonous and recycled. Listen to Tintin and Lincoln. Simply atrocious.
        Damn... Zimmer really blew it out of the park with Interstellar. It's got such a godly score. Happy that Nolan brings the best out of Zimmer. Inception was Oscar nominated for score too.

    How many episodes do I have to wait for Daredevil to get interesting? The first two episodes were so boring that I started watching the new season of Trailer Park Boys instead. I like a lot of aspects of the show and want to give it a shot, but I just need some reassurance that it's going to be worth my time. It's certainly better than Gotham (though not yet as entertaining in that batshit crazy way Gotham can be), but Gotham only asks me for 43-minutes a week. Each episode of DD is over 50-minutes long, which is about 20-minutes more than each episode's story actually seems to require (the fight scenes are well-choreographed, but they go on way too long: tedious, repetitive, dimly lit, and weirdly lacking in tension as if the people throwing punches could be interchangeable or on any other basic-cable crime show.)
    If I'm not hooked on DD after the first two episodes, is it worth giving it more time?

      It's not for you man. I think it's universally agreed that episode 2 is one of the best episodes. My personal favorite episodes were episode 6 and 7 but I don't think you have enough patience for it. The show has a slow pace and has a lot of story build up. It's the polar opposite of the Avengers, so I find it weird that you don't like it. But I'll respect your opinion. I still think it's the greatest TV show I've ever seen but I have a lot of patience and I'm big on story telling.

      Daredevil got a lot of things right. The origin story, Kingpin and the fights, goddamnit. Flash will always be my favourite although nothing beats a good case on Gotham.

        Well NBC's giving it a chance so Cerone and Goyer will pitch ideas and if NBC likes it season 2 is happening. I like Constantine as much as I like Daredevil. NBC gets dumb and tries to cancel good shows like Fresh Prince of Bel Air but lets shows that used to be until Steve Carell left go on

      I didn't even make it to the 2nd episode. I can't believe how disappointing Daredevil was. Just terrible in every way. I want to continue watching it at some point and hope it gets better but I can't imagine I'll ever get around to it.

        You people and you're inability to understand that somebody disagreeing with you doesn't make them a troll is nauseating.
        It was 50 minutes of people talking, 5 minutes of action. The acting was horrendous, particularly that douche that plays Foggy. It was boooooooooriiiing. Nothing grabbed me. Nothing held my interest. The pacing was horrendous. Right off the bat, instead of starting with a nice action scene to suck you in, it instead has Murdock droning on and on and on in the confessional. I was so bored by the end of that one scene it really just sucked all my excitement about watching the show right out of me. It also looked really cheap. It felt like an over-hyped fan film.
        Marvel's lame attempt to go dark was laughable. They simply didn't use light bulbs. BRILLIANT!
        I went into that show super excited planning on watching at least 3 of them that night and at the end of the first one I went into a depression. I'd rather watch the movie 12 more times than 12 more episodes like that.
