Exclusive 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' set photos hint at iconic Batman scene

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice crew built a cemetery deep in the Orion Oaks County park in Michigan this week, and filming took place this weekend. What follows is all speculation, but you may not want to continue reading if you're trying to avoid spoilers.

Our good friend Bananadoc sent Batman News some exclusive photos from the new cemetery set. You can clearly see that these are tombstones from members of the Wayne family. Will we see Ben Affleck take part in the iconic scene from the comics and animated TV series which show Bruce Wayne visiting his parents? There's also another theory that this is a flashback funeral scene, perhaps going way back to when Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered. Bananadoc spotted some very old looking cars and a hearse on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set this weekend, which back up that claim.

      Philip Wayne is Thomas's brother, and was once guardian to Bruce. Unless you are thinking of Philip Kane, who was brother to Martha.
      As for Jarvis? He's buried on the Wayne property.

    One of the stones says "Thomas" on it. I'm assuming it's intended to be an ancestor, since I would think T&M would be in the large crypt, and there's no matching stone for Martha.

So long as we don't have to sit through Thomas and Martha Wayne's demises for the umpteenth time, I'm game for just about anything with regards to the emotional arc of Batman's non-Caped Crusading alter-ego in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and beyond. Seriously, though, is it really not March 2016 yet?

      It is second installment in DCCU. And Batman,WW and other member of Justice League also there,in previous installment no members were introduced beside Superman. And first time in cinematic history Batman and Superman come together in same frame. Also WW. Her first appearance in live-action films. So in lot of angles this film is very very important. And DCCU future is heavily depend on this film's success,both critical and commercial. And this film is also biggest project in superhero genre! So,it is easy to understand why Warner bros. started this films marketing so soon. There is lot of strong reasons. And the film will pass 165 minutes i think. You need enough time to introduce all these. And personally i like long films. If made it right duration not matter. Look at The Godfather films,Titanic,Watchmen etc all are over 170 minutes. But there is not so many long films which successful! But it will deliver if it even cross 170 minutes.

  Flashback scene. I post here old cars which will use for the scene. Check. Zack going to shoot that iconic scene buddy! Now who is the young Bruce that is the question. We will see may be soon in those set photos who is the boy. I think this flashback scene will be plant in Bruce's dream scene. That will be great!

    Well if you knew the TDKR story, you would know how it works. Bruce suffers a heart attack during his fight with supes. He does not die, but lets everyone think he did, he even gets put in the ground. Carrie Kelley digs him up... but not before supes, attending the funeral, hears a heartbeat, turns back to carrie and winks with a smile, then leaves. That's how it would work my friend. I doubt that is what the scene is, but there is your explanation as to how it could work.

      I have read it. And that's all true, but the whole world still thinks he's dead. And he continues his activities underground. That is how the story ends. Here, that won't be the end of the story. This movie is just a chapter in a much bigger story. I just don't think it would work for him to pretend to be dead in this movie and then come back for a JL movie. It works in the comic, but it's not easy to make it work here.

Interesting...probably a flashback scene. Y'know, a rainy day with Young Bruce Wayne crying and Alfred comforting him. Lightning striking in the background. If Batman has his fake death, that'll just be dumb. First of all, the whole world will think Superman killed him. Second of all, they're supposed to be forming the League. The Dark Knight Returns happens decades after the Justice League disbands.

  It will be more great if there is a scene where everyone leave and Alfred stand behind with black umbrella and Bruce sit in front of grave with crying and Alfred not try to stop his crying just cover him with big something and after sometime wind blows with little anger and his cover spread and looks like huge Batman's cape! And Alfred look at that incident and feel something,that Bruce will be something very different in future!

  You mentioned Damian and that could be interesting. I actually don't like Damian (he's my least favorite Robin), but I think it could be a good move to mention him as having existed in this universe, but being dead. It could work.

      Waiting for teaser trailer man. It will release in december with Hobbit 3. Can be next month with Intersteller too. But chance is big for December! It is "Batman heavy". Internet will explode. I think it will have more hits in one day than The Lavengers 2 (2:17) trailer.

        If not then also okay. Because it will be not full trailer like aou. It will be maximum 1 minute trailer. And will not cover footage from film. Little footage may be. It will be not fair comparison between these trailers. When bvs will release full trailer where that cover original footage from films and all members then it will be right. But it is about world's biggest and second big superhero and biggest superheroin! So less than 1 minute trailer can destroy 2:17 minutes full trailer of aou.

        I have read it. I like it a lot. Not as good as Batman Year One, but still great. I just found it strange that Gotham was able to recover so quickly from what happened with the Riddler.

        Batman: Year One considered best Batman graphic nove widely,then TDKR. Those are high level art. Leave them! But in this generation Zero Year is impressive and so many other works too. You know to me Batman always like ancient creature. The Zero Year suit looks chessy man. TDKR,Batman: TAS,Nolan films suits are my favorite. And these more and more. Like in the Knightfall Batman costume also great.

      The year one stories, all of them, not just bats, seem to be excellent, excellent stories. The art is fantastic too. I own superman earth 1 vol 1 and 2 and they are amazing. Im so stoked for vol 3 but it is taking forever to come out.

      it's great but basically i don't want earth 1 influence to be there on this batman, because the entire TDK trilogy was earth one, but nonetheless a great comic book.

I'd actually rather Bruce's past NOT be referenced at all in this film. But I guess from a storytelling standpoint. It's a way to show WHERE the Bruce Wayne character's motivation, comes from.

      Man, you like to use commas quite inappropriately... but u also use them correctly in spots.... comma after 'sure,' 'be,' and 'you know,' good. Comma after 'assume,' 'flashback,' and 'more,' baaaad. Sorry, this is probably stupid, but it peeved me, like people think using a comma in a sentence, using basic grammar rules, makes them appear intelligent, or something. Just tone down the commas lol.

All the alien invasion ,destruction and the aftermath of the event, which may possibly include but not limited to fear, paranoia, protests all over the world and other things, from an alien calling itself a benevolent being to the politicians using the whole thing to create more fear, leading to more riots. All of this, has strongly shaken his beliefs and maybe he just needed something much more personal, than his butler to hold onto, something which seems real and tangible, even though a faded memory. This could nicely be under-cut by a flashback to the funeral of his parents and his father's words. Great cinematography and Hans Zimmer's music could make this scene really powerful.

If this scene is what it looks like it will be, I'm beyond excited. It would definitely add some weight to Bruce's past and make people see his motives behind what he does.

What if this scene is like the scene in Man of Steel where Lois meets Clark at his father's grave? I'm assuming this scene is a flashback, like how it was in Man of Steel. It can be deeply poetic in a sense. This could be the scene where Clark meets Bruce. Like the real Bruce.
