      Man of Steel sucked. Green Lantern sucked. The only movies that DC has that can be even remotely considered good are Nolan's Batman films, and they aren't even a part of this new "Marvel-rip-off" cinematic universe crap they're try to build. Chris also has made it quite clear that he's done with these movies.

      dude i disliked MOS but i love the DC universe better than Marvel. and can't deny that the Marvel MOVIE Universe is better(besides the Nolan Dark knight Trilogy, that was its own thing, The Dark Knight is the Best Comic book movie ever, period!) DC animation and TV is way better than Marvels though, thats why everyone grew up with Batman and Superman Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited. But if anyone is going to ruin the DC MOVIE universe its Zack Snyder and Goyer they really need to go. they are going to ruin it for us DC Fans

    u suck ratman! man of steel is the best film of the year! it taught us something that even chris nolan's batman didnt KIDS ARE FUTURE'S LAST HOPE! even though clark as a kid grew up very differently and often bullied he did not loose hope that someday people will look up to him (LITERALLY!) and praise him! he even showed that even he has a godlike power he prayed and ask guidance to JESUS! did some comic book hero did that in a movie? fuck no! they showed that they dont need God

    Agreed. Marvel's movies are good... but not great. It always feels like something is missing... and there's too much comic relief for my liking, I like the grit that DC has integrated in their recent movies. The only time Marvel steps up is when they have an amalgamation of superheroes, like Avengers or X-Men first class. Otherwise, I've been disappointed with their releases. The Dark Knight series, Watchmen and Man of Steel > any marvel movie.

      DC makes superhero movies for adults. Marvel makes superhero movies for kids. That's what it all boils down to. That's why they make more money. They're kids movies. So they get the superhero audience AND they get that same audience that all those crappy CG kids movies get. Dumb kids can go watch Avengers 15 times because it's nothing but bright colors and noises. Kids aren't going to go see Batman 15 times because there's nothing there for them. It's dark, dreary and scary with people getting their faces melted off. There is a reason why Marvel is owned by DIsney now. It's a huge kids property. This is not to say Marvel doesn't have SOME cool movies. They do. But the kid audience is what puts them over the top. I'd rather have my superhero movies targeted at me than targeted at 8 year olds.
      People also have such a skewed perception of what equals success for DC and what equals success for Marvel. If Marvel puts out a movie and it does 150-200 million, it's yet another blockbuster from Marvel Studios! If DC puts out a movie and it doesn't make 1 billion dollars it's a failure.

      Well said man, not to mention how this conglomerate is limiting the creativity and diversity that these movies can potentially have. All of Marvel's movies are suffering from this media convergence, it's a shame because I'm not a Marvel hater, I just got tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. Take the Punisher per instance, there was a fan made movie that received positive feedback from some of the official comic book artists/writers and Marvel decided to pull the plug. It's a damn shame.

      I don't know what to think about that movie. We know so much about every other major movie of 2015 and then Star Wars hasn't made a single casting announcement yet. All we know is that the script was so bad they threw it out and started over. haha Good omen.

      Wow, shut up! Typical fanboys who think they are intelligent enough to tell the difference between a good movie and a terrible movie are all too common these days. I've heard it all; "Marvel movies are for kids", "Marvel sucks", "Marvel movies are terrible *waa, waa, waa* .... the Mandarin is an actor, my life is ruined!" You can't ruin something that you didn't posses in the first place.

      Coulson got stabbed right in the heart, then Nick Fury threw his bloody baseball cards right on the screen. Nolan's Batflicks are entertaining and exciting, but by no means are they "arts of cinema", they are simply smarter than your average dumb Blockbuster. Movies like "Man of Steel" fall right into that category. A bland, unintelligent movie that is SO superficial with it's "themes", that every character at some point must recite the "destiny speech" to 'ol Clark so he doesn't lose his "moral compass".
      The fact that you support "dark, dreary and scary" superhero adaption is a prime example of EVERYTHING WRONG with the comicbook community today! Characters like Superman, who wear bright red n' blue tights and symbolize the pure embodiment of kindness and honor; who saves runaway trains and cats from trees must be transformed into a dark-emo avenger, who spills blood at every encounter and leaves movie audiences with the most depressing feeling that they can fathom.
      And at the end of the day, who gives a freak?! This whole competition is about MONEY! $$$$$$! And DC Comics will continue to envy Marvel as they smash records, while they are steady trying to build a meta-dark "epic" that will hopefully appeal to all audiences. If DC Comics was "quality over quantity", they wouldn't be trying to shove Batman and Wonder Woman into a squeal to the first movie in their supposed "cinematic universe", just to reach up with 'King Marvel'; a movie of which received so much lukewarm reception, you think they'd try to improve on it's flaws before fast tracking this "mess".

      You want a serious tone for comic book characters? Men with magical rings, Gods, children who can shoot lasers out of their fingertips, rock monsters, crazy scientist? Grown men and women who spend their lives playing dress up in colorful costumes? The only way to make these characters realistic is by adding these ridiculous ideas to these outofthisworld characters and it's hampering them. None of these characters, with an exception of a very few, were ever suppose to be taken seriously. These are characters meant to appeal to 13 to 14 year old boys, and may be even a little older.
      The fact that a 50-somethin' year old man (not yourself, but if you wanna get defensive over this, then it can only be painfully true) will fanatically defend these fictional characters that spiral out of ridiculously-contrived origins and all of a sudden have a knack for being boy/girl scouts, just bewilders me to no end.
      These movies generate so much backlash because they are trying too hard to be DARK, GRITTY & REALISTIC. With Man of Steel, Superman punching Zod through a dozen buildings, in addition to the the tinted/lifeless colors in that movie and the bombastic "epic" musical score, are all moves made by the filmmakers to visually separate this film from its campy source material and movie predecessors, as they obviously don't posses the ability to effectively convey this through writing.
      Take TASM for example, I thought that was the worst "gritty, dark, realistic knock-off for a superhero movie I've ever seen. Man of Steel beats it by a mile. If you're gonna try to, for lack of a better word, erase a character's campy image from public perception, then it needs to transcend across all the mediums in which the character is present. I have a dark n' gritty Spider-Man over here and a campy, ridiculous, cheesy as hell Spider-Man over here in the "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated show. They wanna have there cake and eat it too. (I could explain this more thoroughly, but I'll stop here)
      Marvel seems to meet me "eye-to-eye" to some degree and that's why I enjoy their movies. They aren't even considering the idea that these characters can fully be taken seriously. They're are sticking to one idea for their characters and one idea only. They aren't forcing these characters to appear in the "Citizen Kane of comicbook movies", they are making Star Wars-type blockbuster. Simply Fun. While DC on the other hand wont stop until they have finally created that arthouse Superhero film and it's clearly not working for them. Let's be honest, DC Comics characters are far more ridiculous than most things at Marvel's place.

      I'm sorry, but just because Man of Steel was "dark" (had no humor etc), doesn't mean it was a movie for adults. I agree about the Batman trilogy, I really do. The Batman trilogy was great, however Man of Steel was nothing like it and the sequel is not going in the direction any DC fan should want (Gal Gadot as ww? Possibly flash?). I am a huge DC fan, but it doesn't mean I have to be a blind fanboy and be happy every time I see my characters on the big screen. I want some quality, just like with the batman trilogy, but so far everything else we got from WB was the GL movie, Jonah Hex and Man of Steel.

      So your opinion is based on popular opinion? critics? reviews?, Gimme YOUR take on what makes Marvel movies so phenomenal.

      Your stance is primarily based on popular opinion and money then. Pleasing the general public in order to make profit is not my idea of a fantastic movie, it makes for good entertainment but it doesn't go beyond that. Watchmen didn't get a great review, it isn't a family flick and it didn't make THAT much money but I still loved it anyways. As a fan of the graphic novel, I thought they made a successful adaptation, everything about that movie looked good IMO and felt right. They tweaked a couple of things here and there but they made it work. I can say the same for X-men First class, it wasn't Marvel's top grossing movie nor their most popular but it was easily one of their best. Regardless, I'm still gonna go see em all, I still love all the Marvel superheroes and hope they keep em coming (unless they pull off more bullshit like Ironman 2,3 and X-men Origins : Wolverine). But in the end, If i had to pick from ALL of the superhero movies out there, DC's outweigh Marvel in overall cinematic quality, hence the quality vs quantity argument.

      Loved it. I didn't care for the CG costume or Blake Lively, but neither was deal breaking. It had some issues but they all could've been fixed in a sequel. It set up the world of Green Lantern and established the character. That's all it needed to do. Bring in a better director, with a bigger and better script for part 2 that focuses on part 1's biggest strength, Mark Strong's Sinestro, and the franchise could've blew up.
      I'd say Green Lantern is the perfect example of DC being held to a much higher standard than Marvel is. If Green Lantern had a Marvel Studios logo on the front of it it'd be a beloved classic. That movie is better than at least half of what Marvel has put out, but it's a failure because DC movies aren't allowed to be less than perfect.

Tell me again how people hold DC movies to a higher standard when the last Batman series is so hyped up despite the massive plot holes. Hell, the only reason WB hasn't produced anything from DC outside Superman and Batman is because they know people will pay the money just because it's Superman/Batman. And that's the exact dynamic they're trying to create by making this movie about Batman and Superman.

      I love it because it's a superhero movie. It doesn't matter to me if it's DC or Marvel. I like superhero movies. Period. When it comes to comics I'm DC, but movies or TV I'll watch anything with a costume and like what I think is good. My favorite superhero movie of 2012 wasn't The Dark Knight Rises, it was Amazing Spiderman. Sorry to burst your bubble.

    Yes, crossovers are an issue, but on the flip side, having different studios making Marvel movies means you can have Marvel movies every year (and sometimes even twice a year. That's money in the bank for them. And good for us who enjoy them. WB has more pressure on them because they have the entire DC universe but they can only do so much in media, and even when they do it's not always great.

  Possible...but the odds are better on a Marvel movie taking those honors, considering how Fox and Sony are also in for the stakes on Marvel's side. Plus there's also the fact that Avengers has a much better director than "BvS/JLA"

      Indeed. Suckerpunch rules. I never understand why people can't just accept a movie for what it's supposed to be. Why would you go watch Suckerpunch for great plot, acting or whatever? It's a movie about hot chicks fighting giant robot samurais and the like. That's all it promised and that's what it delivered in spades. It's not meant to be Casablanca, it's meant to be an orgy of over the top action set pieces.

      I wasn't even thinking about Sucker Punch...another stinker from Snyder. And the great majority of people disagree with you on Watchmen (all it had was the script, which wasn't even original; otherwise, the movie had no soul).
      If you're not familiar with Whedon's TV work, it explains your bias toward Snyder, who again, doesn't have a lot of standout work. Surely you've heard of Buffy, Angel and Firefly; those are all Whedon. He also co-wrote one of the greatest animated films of all time in Toy Story, and the cult film Serenity, not to mention Avengers.

I dont understand why people have to engage in this DC - Marvel feud. Personally, I enjoy both Marvel and DC movies alike. Joss Whedon is my favorite person of all time and Heath Ledgers performance as Joker continues to blow my mind.
I would also like to say, just because Marvel movies are not dark and gritty doesn't mean they are bad quality. Marvel movies capture the campy, fun tone in the comics.

Why do us comic fans have to fight? Lets just be friends.

You'll notice that it's always the DC "fans" who start this crap. Never on a Marvel article have I seen a Marvel fan bash DC's body of work. It's the exact opposite on a DC article. They go on and on about how the Mandarin sucked on an article about Flash possibly being in the MOS squeal. Going over to a Marvel article and crapping on their films seems to be the norm now though.

Who says this movie is going to be too crowded?? As far as you know WW could be slightly more than a cameo in this film. Snyder is contracted for at least three films. MoS and it's sequels. I betcha Affleck will direct some too.. He's a HUGE DC fan. Plus he can get input from Kevin Smith.. And I'm sure Goyer won't stray away from the DC franchise, he has expressed great interest in ALL of DC's characters (before you hate on Goyer, think about The Dark Knight).

I'll say something to truly break the ice: Christopher Nolan and Joss Whedon are overexposed filmmakers. Chris has this artistic view that translates his vision into pure cinematic work where he usually struggles more with characterization than with story and scenery. While Joss on the other hand actually translates his experiences into fascinating dialogue but still has difficulties with world building yet the actors he's worked with him are brilliant and witty themselves. Therefore, it's just a matter of opinion and perspective because "everyone's a hero in their own way." Also, some of the comments I've read are somewhat ignorant and at the same time extraordinarily respectful.
