on Warner Bros. didn't just want Ben Affleck to direct 'Justice League', they wanted him to be Batman

The always reliable El Mayimbe of Latino Review decided to drop a huge Justice League story on Twitter just hours after the report that Warner Bros. has scrapped Will Beall's script. It was heavily rumored that Warner Bros. wanted Ben Affleck to direct their superhero movie but we hadn't heard any casting rumors, or who may be the next Batman. Until now. According to El Mayimbe, Warner Bros. didn't just want Affleck to direct, they wanted him to star in the movie too... as Batman!

Affleck decided to pass on the project and now Warner Bros. is without a script, director, Batman, or any actor for that matter. El Mayimbe hints that he may be able to dig up some more information, Tweeting "Justice League. To be continued. Trust me on this fanboy nation". Do you think Ben Affleck would have made a good Batman? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

I see Batman Incorporated coming to screen. With Bale at the head of the organization and Levitt as Gotham's Batman. Bale could be JLA Batman when he is not directing Batmen around the globe.

No, he'd make a horrible Batman. But he'd make a better Superman than Henry Cavill.

Please...just continue with the Nolan series....have Superman ask Batman to join his team...and have Bale return to a gotham where the joker has been let loose and Nightwing (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) needs Batman's help to stop him :)

I wouldn't count out Bale. I don't think Batman's future has been decided yet by WB. They will need a hit movie, and if the money is right Bale will do it.

Scrap the JGL talk about who should play the next Batman - the hands down perfect choice is Jim Caviezel. Joseph Gordon Levitt ...gimme a break.

Thank god someone thinks Jim Caviezel would be an awesome Batman, just watch Jonathan Nolan´s Person of Interest and you can see how great he would be both as Bruce Wayne and Batman! He has the right face,  he´s tall as Batman should be and has his eyes would look great under the cowl...

I think wb should be commended for admitting the script sucks and looking for something else. We acuse them of rushing but at least there trying it took several scripts before we got batman begins. Its really simple,  if they get it right people will see the film They dont have to follow marvel. One thing i will say marvel is smart to get directors that know the source material. But at one time marvel had no luck on the big screen. Batman is my favorite but i love seeing all these super heros brought to life. Justice League could be huge if done well. Me personally i cant wait for the next Batman movie I always thought it would be good for a Brave and the Bold series to put The Bat and another hero together would be a great way to introduce other heros to the big screen.

You Can't Say Ben Affleck doesn't look like Bruce Wayne. I mean the guy looks sooo much like Bruce its like looking at the animated version of Bruce Wayne come to life. I think he would have been good as Batman. Better than Christian Bale for sure.

I would not at all mind seeing him as the director of a new series of Batman movies when the time comes, but playing the lead role? No. Too old, too famous, too goofy, and he was already Daredevil.

    1. Craig Clark Avatar
      Craig Clark

And Chris Evans was Human Torch before he was Captain America but that didn't stop anything. I doubt being in one superhero movie bans you from being in any more, but I will admit he is a good director

      1. Angel "Tha JackaL" Espino Avatar
        Angel "Tha JackaL" Espino

Chris Evans wasn't BAD as Human Torch while the movies did suck. Ben was actually horrible as Daredevil, and the movie sucked. PLUS Chris Evans was not a "Superstar" by any means when he landed Captain America. Ben is Much better known, and is too goofy of an actor to be taken serious as Batman.

  22. Angel "Tha JackaL" Espino Avatar
    Angel "Tha JackaL" Espino

Actually he would have been better as SUPERMAN in a throw back to the golden age set in the 50s than BATMAN... Major mistake trying to cast him as Batman he would be horrible in the role of Batman just awful idea... Either way he's far to big now as a director for those roles. Dude just won a Golden Globe, and is up for the Oscar for best picture. Noway he would do BATMAN now! LOL Silly shit to try to get him anyway.

lol. Thanks for responding. I know comic book fans would like to think that these characters are SO HARD to portray. But if Batman is "written" properly, and the suit and the voice aren't ridiculous, Affleck and millions of other actors, can do a solid job in that role. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfI...

Angel "Tha JackaL" Espinoreplying to Captain DC

Problem is that no matter what he does it's still Ben Affleck playing Batman. The fans will not be able to lose themselves in the character. The reason Keaton's Batman worked was because he wasn't a superstar actor, and the same can be said for Christian Bale who was acting for years but wasn't a house hold name. Ben is at a point in his acting career where he plays himself in every role. Tom Cruise has this same issue. So we are stuck with Bruce "Ben Affleck" Wayne. Not Bruce Wayne BATMAN. They should always look for unknowns for these roles. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was nobody until he got that role. Henry Cavill wasn't known to the mainstream world until he was announced to be Superman. Them going after Ben was a mistake a year ago, and it's a mistake now. Plus he's in his mid 40's by the time this movie roles around. IF There is a sequel he will be pushing 50. IF he gets his solo movie he will be in his MID 50s. IF he gets another one after that he will be close to 60.... Sorry I'm not interested in watching that.

Don't kid yourself. You'll be watching along with the rest of the world in the summer of 2016. Correction: Keaton actually was a well-known comedic actor, before Batman 89'. Didn't you watch the clip I sent you of Affleck? That's not the same dude he played in Argo or the Town. That's not who he is in real life. And Newsflash: Christian Bale isn't actually Bruce Wayne/Batman. He's an ACTOR, that played a fictional character in three Batman movies. He even played John Connor between those films. I'm pretty sure that wasn't Bruce Wayne with the fat gut and the ugly comb-over, in American Hustle. As for Ben Affleck's age. As long as he's in good shape, I got no problem with an older Batman. As long as he takes the role seriously (which of course he will) and understands the source material (which he does) he'll do the character "justice". You'll be on board, once you see the dude in costume.

          3. Angel "Tha JackaL" Espino Avatar
Angel "Tha JackaL" Espinoreplying to Captain DC

Keaton was known as Mr MOM & Beetlejuice which had a nice boxoffice runs, and brought in a domestic intake of about $64Million (Mr. MOM) & Beetlejuice which brought in 73Million. This is about the same sort of exposure Henry Cavill had before he landed the role of Superman. Actually I'd say Henry had more with his show Tudors, and Immortals. AND yet he's still considered an unknown, and it wasn't until this part that he became a House hold name.

But still Keaton wasn't a house hold name, and he was only known as a comedian. So to mainstream people he wasn't known as anything but a comic actor in a handful of indi movies, and 2 movies which had come out which did well at the boxoffice.

But he wasn't a "Superstar" and neither was Bale. Bale like I said had worked for over a decade, and had a following but he wasn't a "Superstar" and we didn't have 10 years worth of bad acting in movies from him leading to his run as BATMAN. While Ben did decent in the movies "The Town & Argo" he just doesn't have the right personality for BATMAN.

Like I said last year had they been casting for a 1950s Superman he might be perfect for it if your doing a campy period piece. But he's just wrong for this sort of role. He's also a horrible "Action" actor. HE does comedy well, and he has become a good director. But again just not right for Batman.

Last time they spent big bucks to bring in a big name actor to play BATMAN it was George Clooney... How did that turn out?

Oh, and don't worry I won't be watching this movie in theaters... I hated Man of Shit so why bother watching the sequel to a movie I didn't like with a cast I hate in theaters? I'll bootleg it like half the country.

HAHA! Good luck with your boot-leg copy. I'd rather watch the DC Trinity battle......Doomsday in 3-D on the big screen! DC to surpass Marvel in live-action films, starts in the summer of 2016. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvo...

I hated MOS. Ben is a horrible choice for batman. Henry was awful as Superman. Gal Gadot as wonder woman? Kidding right? Oh no wait the biggest joke is Jesse Eisenberg As Lex. Fuck this movie.

I'll be at captain America 3.... I seriously got no interest in this shit movie.
