The Dark Knight Rises has made over $733 million worldwide since debuting in theaters just a few weeks ago on July 20th. As far as the domestic gross, The Dark Knight Rises remained box office king for the third straight weekend, pulling in $36.4 in the last three days. Will Christopher Nolan's last Batman movie have the legs to pass the $1 billion mark like The Dark Knight? We'll have to wait and see!

Yes it will pass 1 billion dollars but it will take another 2 weeks. The real question is how can we find out about TICKET SALES? Amount of tickets sold for this and Avengers? If anyone can tell me I'd like that =) Just really curious since I got a bet with one of my stupid friends on which movie will make more ticket sales

That plus the colorado shooting prevented TDKR for being the biggest release ever. It was estimated between 200 million-215 opening weekend =/
Even with the shooting, only a minority of people, didn't go. Not everyone's from Colorado. But I'm sure the Olympics had a huge impact though.
That's why they realeased The Avengers in April and May, to avoid the Euro 2012 (Football, or soccer for North American) that took place in June. Like they did for Iron Man 2, to avoid the World Cup 2010.
I'll do my share by watching it another couple of times, that'll make it five :)

I hope TDKR is the best selling movie of this year--it definitely deserves to be, at least compared to the competition thus far. Can't really compare it to say The Hobbit since it's not out yet, but TDKR deserves to sell well and win awards! Great job, Nolan and co. Keep knockin' dead :)
With where it's at right now, I have no doubt it will reach and surpass $1 billion. Phenomenal. Even the disruptions haven't stunted it from kicking ass like this, right on. RISE!
