Yesterday two new TV spots for The Dark Knight Rises made their debut. TV spot #3 aired during the NASCAR race, but unfortunately that commercial hasn't turned up online in HD quality yet. However, TV spot #4 is online in HD and it's pretty awesome! Check it out, and I'll update this post as soon as TV spot #3 turns up.

How are they spoilers? You may have some guesses. But absolutely nothing legitimate. Nolan and team have shown us nothing that has "spoiled" anything. These pictures elicit even more interest and questions - exactly what marketing aims for.

Ah that Nascar one was the one I was hoping to see as number 4!
TO be honest it´s the first spot I disliked, all that Fox - Wayne interaction sounds deja vu much and again here comes more little cheezy dialogue to supposedly makes the audience skecth a smile. If I was going to judge this movie just for the tv spots I wouldn´t be jumping of excitement, it´s all too fast, too light hearted and more action oriented. Thank God I know better than that!
Dont worry i bet Fox gets brutaly killed at the mid point so his witty banter should be at a minimum .
I happen to love all the Lucious & Bruce moments from BB and TDK (yes they make me smile, and that's a good thing) so so far that's my favorite one! Hopefully soon it will be up in HD...

Man, they are just not letting up with this marketing are they? I kinda hope they cool it off before it's released though, or else we'll have seen the whole film via stills and tv spots. :P

So cool! This is my favorite spot so far: "you're not batman anymore;" the half-second shot of a bearded Bruce Wayne screaming in what I presume is pain sends shivers up my spine. Bruce will suffer in this film, I'm certain of it. But I also believe he will rise out of the pain, like a phoenix from the ashes, to defeat his nemesis

I honestly don't think he's going to kill him off. Maybe it will be the iconic shot of Bruce standing over his parent's grave in the rain and now that Gotham has been saved, he's finally letting them, and Batman, rest in peace.
Could be Could be ! i am not for or against it , i trust Nolan to finish his story the way he wants to .
I think it's interesting that we've now seen a couple of shots of the old base of operations that they were using in TDK and it got me thinking. I've been reading Knightfall again and I know this isn't a new theory, but I can't help but think JGL is going to be the guy who decides to fill in for Batman while he's out of commission. I don't think he'll be playing Azrael per se, but in the comics, they decide to keep Batman's presence felt so the crime bosses still fear Batman at least as much as they fear Bane. Now if "Blake" was in charge of the task force to hunt Batman down, it could be conceivable that he locates the old lair and finds the suit stashed in there and that's why we've seen those couple of shots. I also think it's interesting that in those strobe shots we see of Batman, he's carrying a backpack with him...not very Batman-esque, is it? Maybe those shots are JGL. I need to go back and look at them again...

That's what I was thinking too, but with 30 seconds to jump out and grab your attention in a TV spot, why would they bother putting an old random shot from TDK in the ad? Here's a little montage I put together just for shits and giggles.

Actually there is a Punisher Versus Batman comic book which I own, and Frank Castle aka Punisher is beaten to a pulp by Batman and then told to stay out of Gotham at the end. So there goes your theory..

I bet Bruce Wayne will die and will be buried next to his parents... And in the end, we'll see he's actually alive, but dead to the world and so he will be able to live a normal life like he tried to in Batman Begins. In the same time he asked someone to make live "Batman" for the safety of the people of Gotham. So we'll see someone (John Blake ?) on a building with the Batman suit watching Gotham.
Somebody (Bane?) seems to be going "medieval" on Bruce.
It appears that bruce is being suspended in the air with a rope and that he is watching something terrible happening in front of him, in person or via video screen.
Well, Bane did say, "You're punishment must be more severe." So there you go.(",)

Okay, well in the 4th, Bruce Wayne is saying "I'm Retired". If Bane broke him before, and he came back to Gotham after he knew about the plans to destroy the city, why would he insist that he is not batman, and he doesn't wanna fight no more. HUNHHH What do u think???
Here are my thoughts:
1 - At the beginning, Bruce is retired and hasn't been Batman for years, hence Gordon's "we were in this together, and then you were gone..."
2 - Bane gets to town, but he hasn't started completely shutting the city down yet. He's causing enough trouble behind the scenes to bring Batman out of retirement and he'll use Catwoman to help him gather intel just like in the comics. There's that promo shot we've all seen of her opening an empty safe. This is like in Knightfall where Bane lures her in to a meeting with him by dropping info about something she'd be likely to steal and then showing up where she does. Then she agrees to work "with him, not for him".
3 - Bruce decides to go out as Batman again...only he's still rusty...hasn't been doing it for a while...gets all the cool new gadgets from Fox...Alfred is obviously not too thrilled with this idea.
4 - Bane has Catwoman lure Batman to their first meeting...they're fighting Bane's thugs on the roof together and take off in the Bat. Catwoman brings him to Bane where he proceeds to get his ass handed to him.
After that, we know Bruce is taken somewhere and imprisoned. Once he's gone, that's when I believe Bane really starts to overrun Gotham.
Just my two cents. I'm sure Nolan can do a million things with it. I can't wait to see what really happens.
I don't think Bruce Wayne is retired from Bane breaking him. I think he'll be retired from the events of TDK, and Bane lures him out of retirement to defeat him. We're seeing pictures of Bruce Wayne from different time spans. The second pic is when Bane first defeats Batman. The first pic we don't really know what's going on. Maybe this is a flashback? Maybe, if Bruce Wayne is being held in a prison, Bane returns to torture him?
With everything Nolan has released...it's utterly amazing how we still have no clear idea what's going on lol.
Agreed, he's retired before Bane even comes to town. Bane lures him OUT of retirement, only to send him on what he believes to be a PERMANENT one.
I agree with you completely. I think Wayne may have been injured when trying to get away from the cops at the end of the Dark Knight.
Interestingly enough we have seen amateur video of Batman being chased by the cops in TDKR but we have seen no additional footage regarding the chase.

I don't think Bane is going to break Batman's back. Nolan is going to have his own creative vision for the film like any true artist would. There is no way he is going to imitate the Knightfall storyline.
I am so excited to see how he fits Bane into this universe and why Bane wants Batman dead especially 8 years after the events of TDK.
Totally agree with you. Nothing done by Nolan up to now has been a verbatim copy of another previous Batman story. Granted, there are borrowed concepts, but they stem from many different sources. If anything, I think he's played closer to the storyline of Year One, but even then, it's been anything but verbatim. Nolan is REINTERPRETING the Batman story arc. He'll deliver his fresh interpretation of events along Batman's story.
Bane isn't a huge Mexican strongman in a unitard, that relies on venom. So why would people expect anything else to be exactly true to the comics? He will no "break the Bats" perse, but he does intend on ceasing his existence (whatever that may be) and revolutionizing Gotham by means of class upheaval and civil war.
There was a rumored scene description a long time ago from an insider describing a scene which continued immediately after TDK ends with Batman on the Batpod being chased by police. Batman, still exhausted from those events, took an underground tunnel to get away, only to be trapped by Bane. This was where Bane breaks Batmans spine.
The description was really incredible actually, and while there are alot of scenes in the trailers/tv spots that could fit that description, ultimately I'm pretty sure it was a false. I'm losing hope Nolan will show Batman get his spine broke, just because that's such an epic Batman event, but I gaurantee Nolan will have his own brilliant interpretation like you said.
I remember that video. That chase probably happens after the first time Batman goes public again...if you remember, there was another video that has him turning down a dead end alley, that's when the cops all corner him like we've seen in the trailer and he flies over them in the Bat. Guess he'd have to ditch the batpod and maybe that's how Catwoman ends up getting it...or maybe he just destroys it like he did the Tumbler in TDK. I can't wait to put an end to the speculation, but it's fun for sure.

I like how in the first tv stop Bruce is basically begging for fox to get him back in the game, but in the 3rd tv stop he's like no! I'm retired
So I guess for sure Bruce rejects Fox's proposition of carrying the mantle again, but eventually Wayne comes to his senses and knows he needs to be Batman again.
If you notice, when Bruce declares he's retired he's rocking a nice suit. But in the clip where he asks Fox to get him back in the game he's disheveled and clearly desperate.
