on 'The Dark Knight Rises' miniatures revealed, but why does Catwoman have a gun?

Jakks Pacific revealed their line of The Dark Knight Rises miniatures this week at the NYC Toy Fair. The miniatures will be available this summer, and Jakks has plans for larger figures too.

However, the main purpose of this article was to focus on Catwoman. We've yet to see any photos of Catwoman with her iconic whip, but it looks like she will have a weapon after all... a gun. It's unclear if this is a deadly pistol, or just some type of stun gun, but it looks like Catwoman will be packing heat in The Dark Knight Rises.       She might have a whip as well.... it's not like it's guaranteed that the gun will be her main weapon ;)

      That's Nolan's take of the bat-universe... a whip? I wouldn't expect that...

        Well I believe if Batman can keep his Batarangs, Catwoman should be able to keep her whip:) But I know this will be the best performance of Catwoman yet! I adore Ms. Anne Hathaway:)

          I think I read somewhere that The Dark Knight was the only Batman movie without batatangs. Odd :)

            I believe you can see them in his "display case" down in the temporary "batcave".
            But you are right he doesn't use them.  Don't think he even uses his grappeling gun until the last battle with Joker.

             I'm pretty sure the only time he actually uses them in Nolan's movies is his first appearance in BB, when he just uses them to take out a lamp.

    Why the F is she right-handed? This is bullshit! You've totally ruined the character, Nolan! Why even call her Catwoman if you're going to make her right-handed? I shant watch this movie.

      Every version of catwoman I have ever seen has been dominantly right handed:) though she is ambidextrous when it comes to using her whip!

    Has Catwoman ever had a gun in the comics? I know Catwoman from Batman Returns, Batman: The Animated Series, and most recently Arkham City...but the idea of her having a gun is new to me.

      She used to walk around with one way-back-when (as did Batman). And she still uses them in comics today, but she doesn't carry one on her person. Her most  notable act with a firearm in the past couple years was when she shot Black Mask in the face.

      In the 60's she had a gold colored gun with a barrel in the shape of a lion. And it was filled with bullets of "CATatonic" poison. However catwoman has never straight up used a legitimate gun! Except for when black mask tortured her sister and then Selina killed him in retaliation. So I am actually verrrry upset that Nolan would choose a seemingly common gun over the iconic tendencies of her whip. VERY disappointed:(

        And what makes you even think that nolan even made the decision of picking th gun over the whip?...what even gave you the thought that he even decided that catwoman is using just a gun? wow this is why people shouldnt be let in on anything for a film because of this.i cant wait to see the film and see catwoman use a whip in the film. yea she'll use a gun, maybe in a certain scene, possibly an important or a significant scene, but you'll see the whip too. and if telling me that "how do i know if the film will have a whip?" well, you should probably sit and thought about that before posting this.

I was just saying IFFFFFFFF Nolan wants his catwoman to use just a gun I'd be disappointed. And "what made me think that": THE FACT that they made a statuette of her character HOLDING A GUNNNN and not the whip. Yeah, so you're the one that should relax. I freakin swear, people these days....

    It seems Nolan's Catwoman is interested in high-tech stuff and guns rather a whip.I mean she's got the high-tech goggles and rides The Batpod and now holds a pistol.Also she wears serrated stiletto heels and must be capable of fighting well.WoW! She's gonna be bad-ass!

    well the gun sort of makes sense since a news post in the early days of filming said that hathaway caused a stuntman's injury by accidentaly shoving a gun in his eye.

    I will miss see Catwoman with a whip this time :(

    BUT, Catwoman use a gun before on comics, but just only in extreme situations (ex: when she kill Black Mask), so maybe she will use a gun on film, but we dont know THE CONTEXT of why she holding the gun.

      I'm expecting to see a huge, full, frontal, detailed image of Selina's in action. That first image of her [on the pod] is terrible.

        Not terrible. My only reaction was 'where are the ears?!' but that created a buzz and relief when we found out that there's something more complex in the design of the mask.

        However yes, with all the Bane teasing we've been treated to we Catwoman fans deserve some cool teases. But man, over 4 months to go

    Maybe John Blake as Black Mask ( seems to be happening something in the trailer ) an accident PERHAPS? ... Juno Temple as Selina" Catwoman " Kyle's friend who's been injured/murdered by that probable bad guy... and Selina has her revenge :) with the so pissing-off-plastic-figurine Gun???
    I recently thought about Nolan's way to talk about masks and the identity and games of roles his protagonists have to deal with. I think this is the thematic of his Brilliantly epic trilogy... what do you guy's think ??

    Hi guys! My hometown is in the middle of nowhere in Siberia, Russia. It's called Yakutsk. I live in Moscow now. A few days ago my sister called me and said: "Tom Hardy is in town!". I answered: "That's not funny". But it actually appeared to be true. Tom is with Discovery Channel now doing some documentary about this extremely cold place and a manager of our local theater got in contact with him asking him to come for the premiere of "This means war" and give some interview. He agreed and you can't even imagine the reaction of local viewers when they saw a Hollywood star attending the premiere! I'm big fan of TDK and really regret that I wasn't home at the time Tom came to a theater. Here are some photos of this event

      Dude, that is AWESOME!!! Hardy seems to be such a cool guy! But i've a question... whats up with all the Asiatic types over Siberia? Multi-ethnic culture, Xamanism / Tibetans or something? That's great!! :)

    Yeah... A whip is real practical to have in the 21st century. Nolan's Bat Universe thrives on trying to give these characters some grounding in the real world. You "whip" cry babies should be whining more about her stilleto heels that her carrying a gun. Go rewatch Batman Returns for your fantasy world Catwoman.

      If you are as skilled as Selina is with it, then yeah... I'd say it's pretty dang practical.

      It's practical and dangerous. A random person couldn't pick it up and use it, it takes skill and practice to use a whip. If a hater can't understand that then Batman help you.

    A whip wouldn't fit into the Nolanverse. As for the gun, it may not shoot bullets. Maybe it's like Batman's grapple gun.
